Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7: Why me?

The lady bent her head down and kept staring at the rusted-up ground that appeared to be fighting for its life. For any minute now the ground could collapse right underneath her feet. Like at any moment if a gargantuan rock was placed on it, before it could even collide with the ground it would collapse from the pressure. The lady was now crying, nothing could have prepared her for this day. She thought that her life was perfect and that she had gotten the attention of the leader of their group. Expect their group wasn't all that tiny, it was a variety of people all looking for the same thing. Money. It offered a better amount of money than the minimum wage, and since all those jobs had rejected them. Their whole group came to reside within the grasps of their leader. When the lady couldn't hear anyone talking to her, she slowly brought her head up. Only to find that the figure was still staring at her, and so were her minions but the lady didn't even notice them. The figure now fixed up their posture, "now my assistant is going to ask you this question one more f*cking time got it!" The lady winced back at the sudden raise in voice, she could still feel the figure's minion grasping her hand. Now it felt like the minion was grasping it far too tight, "ONE LAST F*CKING TIME B*TCH, DID YOU OR DID YOU NOT LIE TO US WHEN WE FIRST ASSIGNED YOU THIS MISSION!?" The Lady now slightly brought her head up even more, "I- I-I didn't!" she finally shouted. The minion holding her hand chuckled before checking if she was telling the truth or not. The way her ability worked was if someone was lying a red aura would shine in them. But if they were telling the truth then a green aura shined in them. And if they weren't sure or forgot than the aura would shine yellow. When she checked the lady's aura it was empty, 'but my ability never glitches!' the minion mused. Nothing being shown in the body usually meant that the ability was glitching, but the minion was confident that her ability would never just glitch out. Still though she had to say that to her master, since she knew her, master wouldn't like too much information and would want her to get straight to the point. "Master, it appears my ability is glitching and it won't let me perceive whether or not she is lying." The figure's eyes twitched slightly, "don't make me downgrade you, get the damn job done and all of us can get out of here in a good mood." The minion didn't move and just kept shaking her head to indicate that her ability was truly glitching out. The figure smirked at the lady, "why me?!" she cried out. But the figure already had her knocked out herself, "come on let's drop her off at her car than we can zoom out of here."

I was still sitting in the theater chairs completely perplexed about what just happened. It had been a while since iris left, I didn't check the time or anything, but it just felt like a while. Even if my brain was not always the best at calculating time, I wanted to improve myself just in case I was interviewed for surviving at and island and they ask me how long I've been there. I would look stupid if I said a while, then they'll just think that I stayed there for like two days. But that wasn't the only reason I was practicing, I was also practicing being able to tell how long someone had been gone. Just something that called to me I guess, but I was also worried about were Iris was. I knew she was just probably going to get something, but why this long? Almost immediately after that thought a phone started ringing, I looked all around the room and found a black telephone. Which was strange for me since Iris was so rich I didn't think these types of things would be in her possession. But I ignored that thought and picked up the phone, "hello who is this?" I asked. "Iris, I'm sorry I'm late I drove all the way to my friend, but she said that she needed to cancel so I got us some treats instead!" I was now exited, finally some treats I wasn't even sure the last time I ate was. "Just open the door," she said, "GOT IT!" I exclaimed. I briskly set the phone down to end the call and ran down to where the door should have been. But then when I kept opening doors I thought were the house door, I would just end up in another room. 'Why the heck is there so many damn rooms in this mansion!' I pondered. Another ring could be heard from all the way at the theater room, but I couldn't answer it because I was already lost. I than remembered that the way leading to the door was a huge open hall, and right in front of it was a giant door decorated with rimstones. As soon as I spotted that big hallway, I ran to it until I reached the door. When I opened the door up, Iris was standing right in front of me. Bags filled with delicious aroma, one of which I recognized as double chunk chocolate chips! I grabbed some bags from Iris as I knew it was good manners. As well as the fact that I was really hungry and I would love to have some delicious sweets! I smiled at her and started skipping with the bags in hand, Iris following close behind me. 'Maybe Iris isn't that bad or crazy,' I mused. But right behind me Iris had the bigger bunch of bags that seemed to have a lot in them. And Iris kept on making movements that made me think it was far too heavy for her to carry by herself. Still though I carried on to the table in front of me, in which I was fixated on.
