Superboy vs. Wonder Woman: First Test of the Quake Fruit
The Watchtower shook.
Not from an attack…
but from Superboy simply breathing too hard.
Connor's body was still adjusting to the new power coiled inside him like a sleeping titan.
Raw, unstable.
Uncharted.
Batman spoke first.
Batman
"We need to test him. Immediately."
Superman nodded grimly.
Superman
"We need to understand how dangerous this ability is… and if Connor can control it at all."
Then Wonder Woman stepped forward, gaze steady, spear-like and unbreakable.
Wonder Woman
"I will face him."
Silence.
Superboy's eyes widened.
Superboy
"…Are you sure?"
Wonder Woman
"You carry a power capable of reshaping the world.
The League must know if you can withstand yourself.
And I am the only one here capable of surviving the worst-case scenario."
She wasn't wrong.
Superman hesitated—but eventually gave a tight nod.
And so the test was decided.
The Desert Arena
The Watchtower teleportation system hummed, light rippling across the room—then in a blink:
They stood in a desolate expanse of cracked desert and barren mesas.
No cities.
No wildlife.
No civilization for hundreds of miles.
Perfect for a battle that could level mountains.
Green Lantern flew upward first and constructed a massive hard-light platform—large enough for the entire League to stand on while observing from the sky.
Batman stepped onto it immediately.
Superman joined him.
Flash, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow—all watching.
And then:
Wonder Woman and Superboy walked to opposite ends of a natural rocky arena.
The Fight Begins
The wind stilled.
The sand froze midair.
Inside Superboy, the quake power pulsed—low, thrumming, like the heartbeat of the earth itself.
He clenched his fists.
Superboy
"…I'm scared of hurting you."
Wonder Woman smiled.
Not mockingly.
Proudly.
Wonder Woman
"Then trust yourself.
And trust me."
She drew her sword and shield.
Pure Themysciran steel glinted in the sunlight.
Wonder Woman
"Begin."
Superboy exhaled—
And the world shuddered.
A ring-shaped shockwave burst from his hands, small but heavy.
Wonder Woman raised her shield—
KRNNNNNNNNNGH!
The impact launched her backward fifty feet, boots gouging the earth, but she held firm.
The League gasped.
Flash
"That—THAT was him holding back?!"
Green Lantern
"He didn't even throw a punch!"
Up above, Batman's eyes narrowed behind the cowl.
This was power beyond anything he'd expected.
Superboy's Second Attack
Connor steadied himself.
He didn't want to cause an earthquake.
He didn't want to open the ground like a wound.
So he tried something smaller.
He snapped his fingers.
Just snapped his fingers.
CRACK.
The air fractured like glass hit by a bullet—
a visible splinter in space.
The energy shot forward in a conical blast.
Wonder Woman crossed her gauntlets just in time.
BOOOOOOOM!
The ground behind her tore open, splitting a trench more than two hundred meters long.
The shockwave continued past it and shattered a distant butte into dust.
And Wonder Woman—
She was sent flying through three stone pillars.
The Moment That Changed Everything
Diana rose, rolling her shoulders, brushing dirt from her hair.
Wonder Woman
"…That will bruise."
Her eyes sharpened.
She actually looked excited.
But the League above?
Horrified.
Green Arrow
"HE CRACKED THE AIR."
Superman
"…That wasn't super strength.
That was something else entirely."
Batman
"…Space cannot 'crack.'
Not naturally."
But it had.
Everyone saw it.
Everyone felt it.
The Quake
Wonder Woman charged forward, shield raised.
Superboy panicked.
His emotions surged—
And the quake-fruit power answered.
He stomped the ground.
Just once.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!
Space in front of him cracked like a spiderweb—
White fractures of vibrating force expanded outward.
Then—
THE EARTH QUAKED.
Not a rumble.
A violent spasm that shot through the desert like a living creature.
Wonder Woman was hit full force.
Her shield buckled.
Her armor shook.
Her knees slammed into the earth as the shockwave consumed her.
The entire desert floor rippled like water.
Up above, the League grabbed the edge of the construct as Lantern's platform itself trembled.
Even Superman's eyes widened.
Superman
"…He created a local earthquake. With a single stomp."
Martian Manhunter
"And the space around him responded to the vibrations…
as if reality was bending."
Batman didn't speak.
He was calculating.
Simulating.
And for the first time in years…
he felt fear.
Not for Earth.
But for the boy who now held the power to break it.
Superboy Realizes What He's Done
Connor stared at his own trembling hands, horrified.
Superboy
"…I didn't mean to—
I just—
Diana, I'm sorry!"
Wonder Woman rose slowly from the crater she'd been driven into.
She wasn't angry.
She wasn't afraid.
She was proud.
Wonder Woman
"You have nothing to apologize for.
That was incredible strength—tempered by hesitation, not malice."
She sheathed her sword.
Wonder Woman
"You are capable of wielding this power, Superboy.
But you must learn restraint…
because this ability is equal parts salvation and destruction."
Superboy nodded shakily.
The League descended from Lantern's platform.
Every one of them looked at him differently now.
Not as a clone.
Not as a sidekick.
But as a walking natural disaster
wearing a teenager's face.
