Chapter 4 - The Vesperian Court

"Mom, you're here," Vesper said as he saw Elora.

"Yes, honey, I'm here...how are you feeling?" Elora replied

"I feel fine...I feel good," Vesper replied, deciding to keep what happened silent.

"That's good...we checked you out, and everything was fine. But do you remember what happened, anything at all?" Elora asked

"...N-no, I don't. One moment I was walking home after dropping off Sakura, and then I suddenly felt really lightheaded, and then nothing," Vesper replied

"Phew... that's good," Elora said under her breath.

"What was that?" Vesper asked even though he heard her

"No, nothing...I'm just glad it wasn't an attack or something worse," Elora quickly replied, waving her hand.s

"But anyway, I will call the doctor. Once they do a second scan to make sure thier are no new developed head injuries, I will have them release you to come home," Elora said as she stood up and walked away.

Once Elora left the room, Vesper let out a small sigh and leaned back on his bed. Opening his system, he opened his apostle tab.

[Apostles]

[Current Apostles: None]

[Possible Apostles: None]

[Would you like to summon an Apostle]

[Minimum Divine Energy: 5,000]

"So I can use diving energy to gain apostles... that's good, but the cost is steep," Vesper thought as he looked at the tab.

"But I guess it will be worth it. As long as they act in my name and spread my belief, I can gain more divinity."

[Master, I would recommend summoning an Apostle. Once you gain one, you will earn half of the experience they gain, allowing you to gain strength passively] Astrid added

"Is that so...Very well, I will summon my first one tonight, but for now, I should focus on absorbing more divine energy," Vesper replied as he viewed how much divine energy he had.

[Divine Energy: 8,800]

As the day went on, Vesper underwent a few more tests, and the doctors made sure he had no hidden injuries after giving him the thumbs up. Elora brought him home and started making dinner for them.

"I will be taking off work for a few days just to look after you and make sure you are fine," Elora said as she cut vegetables.

"No, you don't have to do that. I'm fine, really," Vesper replied

"No, you are not. You were found in the middle of the park in tattered clothing covered in your own blood with no sign of injury, which should be impossible, so I am not letting you out of my sight," Elora said as she chopped the vegetables faster and got emotional.

"Mom...I promise I'm okay...What happened that night was one of those in-a-billion incidents. I promise I really am okay, please don't worry," Vesper said, and he grabbed her hands to reassure her.

"You are growing up too fast. When did you learn to comfort people like this?" Elora said with a small laugh as she wiped her tears.

"I learned from the best and kindest mother of all," Vesper said as he hugged her.

"...Such a silver tongue you have...Alright, but I want you to call me every day. In the morning, in the afternoon, and if anything happens, I will come home immediately," Elora listed.

"Okay, okay, I will just don't stay worried the whole day," Vesper replied

After eating dinner, Vesper and Elora went to sleep, and the next day, Elora got ready for work as Vesper kept reassuring her that he would be fine.

"Are you sure...Maybe I should just stay home at least for today," Elora said nervously.

"No, mother goes to work, I will be fine," Vesper said, and he slowly moved her towards the door.

"Okay, remember to call me in two hours and around 12, I will be on lunch then. I already talked to Mrs.Momamoto, he and Dusk will check up on you in a few hours," Elora said as he put her shoes on.

"Okay, Mom...now you go to work and save some lives, don't worry about me, I'm okay," Vesper replied

"Alright...bye, baby, I will see you tonight," Elora said, giving him a kiss on the cheek and leaving.

Waving her goodbye from the window, Vesper went back up to his room and opened his system once more.

[Would you like to summon an Apostle]

[Minimum Divine Energy: 5,000]

[Divine Energy: 12,340]

"Astrid uses 10,000 divine energy and summons an apostle," Vesper said without hesitation.

[Yes, but before that, you must choose which message your apostles will spread]

"hmm...The evening star...a star that represents the end of the struggle of the day and the light in the darkness]

[Very well]

[You have established your own pantheon]

[The Vesperian Court]

[Reward: +10,000 Divinity]

[Commencing summon]

[Divine Energy: -10,000]

[Apsotle Grade: A-Rank]

As the notifications radiated a golden light that seemed to emanate from the floor, they pooled together, forming the figure of a person. Once the figure was fully formed, the light faded away, exposing the person.

[New Apostle Of The Vesperian Court]

[Apostle: Seraphina Ravenscroft]

[Grade: A-Rank][Potential: Peusdo-God-Rank]

[Loyalty: 0]

[Trust: 0]

[Belief: 0]

Standing before him was a woman standing around 170cm(5'7). With long braided white hair, pale white skin, in a grey and black skin-tight suit that hugged her hourglass figure and left a cleavage view, a cape that had white feathers on the shoulder guards, and sitting on her shoulder was a large raven with six eyes all blood red, just like her.

"I greet the great lord," Serephina said, and she submitted and got down on one knee.

(She may not be loyal, but she understands the situation she is in...good)

"I will be blunt. I am going to be expecting a lot from you. I am a low god, but I have large aspirations. I won't have time to deal with internal uprisings. I expect you to listen to my commands if you understand," Vesper spoke.

"Yes, of course, great lord...but may I ask something of you?" Seraphina quickly replied

"Speak"

"What kind of god do you wish to be?" Seraphina asked with a hint of nervousness in her voice

"...That kind of god I plan to become. I plan to become the hope people can look towards. I want to become a god that people can turn to in times of crisis. I plan to be a god that breaks the old rules that have restricted other gods from answering questions. Or interacting with humanity," Vesper replied, his eyes glowing slightly with his conviction.

"Yes, I understand my Lord...As you apostle, I will spread your goals and hopes to all," Seraphina said with a sigh of relief and a slight smile.
