Lilian's POV
Augusto lingered in the doorway, his dark eyes studying me with an intensity that made my skin burn.
I twisted away from his gaze, mortified beyond belief. In all my years of living, I had never felt so utterly humiliated.
His footsteps approached slowly across the hardwood floor.
My hands flew to cover myself, heat flooding my cheeks in waves I couldn't control.
He dropped to his knees directly in front of me, a hint of amusement dancing in his voice. "So what was your grand plan if I hadn't walked in? Were you going to army crawl your way out of here?"
I stared down at the floor, refusing to meet his eyes. The shame was so overwhelming I could feel tears threatening to spill.
Augusto exhaled a quiet breath, then effortlessly lifted me into his arms. His gaze swept over my flushed face as he spoke. "It's nothing I haven't seen before. Why are you acting like this is the end of the world?"
