Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Recuperation

"Sigh, I said it's nothing~ It just looks scary, but they're actually just superficial wounds," Lu Xun said in a helpless tone.

"Superficial wounds?" His aunt's voice suddenly rose.

She pointed incredulously at the wounds on her nephew's back, "I can see the bone! Look, look, it's still moving! Such a deep wound and you call it superficial?"

"You actually just slept through the night like this? No, no, I need to take you to the hospital. I'll call an ambulance now."

Seeing his aunt's eyes brimming with tears, Lu Xun had no choice but to patiently explain to her:

"Due to certain reasons, my physical condition has undergone a transformation. These wounds are really nothing. If you don't believe me, look."

With that said, he stood up, showing his height of over 1.8 meters and his well-proportioned, muscular body.

He even jumped in place, showing that he could move without difficulty.

Seeing her nephew lively and energetic, not at all like someone injured, his aunt's anxiety eased a bit.

"Did you get an enhancement needle? It's over, it's over; you'll lose your college entrance exam eligibility," she now worried about Lu Xun's future.

"I didn't get a shot, don't worry. I'll pass the drug test," Lu Xun said confidently.

The law prohibits minors from injecting genetic enhancement potions because these drugs have significant side effects on the human body and can shorten lifespan.

Especially for adolescents whose bodies are not fully developed, the damage is greater, and it's irreversible.

However, Lu Xun's "Projection" process was essentially perfect-level gene fusion, with no drug components, equivalent to pure natural evolution.

There's no fear of a drug test at all!

With Lu Xun's continuous reassurances, his aunt gradually calmed down.

She wasn't foolish and knew that the fortune over a hundred million in the living room couldn't see the light of day.

The source of the injuries on her nephew wasn't simple either, and going to a hospital could easily cause trouble.

"Sigh."

She sighed, heart aching, and gently rubbed Lu Xun's head, saying softly:

"Lie down, let me stitch up the wounds on your back."

Lu Xun responded with an "Mm" and obediently lay down.

As she stitched his wounds, his aunt hesitated to speak.

She actually had many questions she wanted to ask her nephew, wanting to know what exactly happened last night.

Where did the money come from?

How did he get covered in wounds?

Had he done something terrible?

And so on.

But she ultimately didn't voice them.

She just murmured, "Silly child, we're not worth you doing this."

Though she had raised him for over a decade, he wasn't her own, and he didn't have to do these things.

Lu Xun remained silent.

After a long pause, he finally said softly:

"Don't worry, I've taken care of all the troubles. I partnered with someone else to complete this job, but he's dead now. The money can save two lives: one for uncle, and the other..."

He briefly mentioned Old Octopus's situation.

After all, his family knew he worked at a black clinic over the years, so it wasn't a secret.

After listening, his aunt couldn't help but sigh, feeling a wave of fear in hindsight.

Old Octopus was dead, and her nephew came home covered in wounds.

All for the price of 120 million!

Lu Xun didn't go into specific details; even for family, explaining this much was enough.

"I haven't done anything against my conscience. I'm at peace with taking this money," he smiled and told his aunt. "Once uncle is cured, our family life will return to normal, and we won't have to live so hard."

"I'd rather endure more hardship than have you take risks," she said, poking Lu Xun's head, her eyebrows raised sternly:

"You've always been more mature than your peers, so I won't ask too much about your affairs. But you have to promise me, never do this again... Not even for the family."

"Mm." Lu Xun nodded earnestly, "Don't worry, I won't make you worry again."

They chatted idly.

Soon, his aunt finished stitching the wounds on his back and bandaged them.

"You must be famished. I'll go buy some groceries and come back to cook for you," she instructed seriously, "Don't go anywhere for now, rest well, and heal your wounds."

"Regarding school, I'll ask the homeroom teacher for leave on your behalf. Just stay home obediently, I'll be watching you!"

Her tone didn't sound like a suggestion, so Lu Xun had no choice but to nod helplessly.

His aunt left the bedroom, closing the door behind her.

He lay on the bed, wrapped in bandages, staring blankly at the ceiling, his thoughts churning.

Though the experience was thrilling, they managed to accomplish everything in one go.

After shedding the "Black Doctor" persona, he could return to normal life and stay away from those conflicts.

From now on, he would attend school normally, take the college entrance exam, and go to a prestigious university.

It seemed a beautiful life was beckoning him!

Lu Xun's ideal major was "Mecha Manufacturing and Repair," and considering his future as a strong individual, he could also take "Archaeology" as a minor.

With the identity of an archaeologist, it would be easier for Lu Xun to collect entries for the Biological Illustrated Guide, accumulate Trait Points, and continue to grow stronger.

Though the world seemed stable now, this incident made Lu Xun aware of the dark sides of society.

Everything appeared calm on the surface, but in reality, powerful storms were brewing. Jinghai City was far from being as peaceful or safe as it seemed.

Unseen corners were full of astonishing dangers.

Therefore, he had to continue enhancing his strength and couldn't settle for the status quo.

After fusing the Red Orge Gene, the compatibility of the nearly hundred different Otherworld species he had recorded in his illustrated guide had all slightly increased.

But after spending 65,000 Trait Points to elevate the Ghost God Body to the "Special Level," the compatibility showed no change.

This indicated that only by continuing to merge new genes could he gradually improve compatibility.

Moreover,

After evolving to a Special-level life form, Lu Xun felt he had hit a bottleneck.

To further elevate the Ghost God Body would require consuming a vast amount of Trait Points.

Before reaching the Special Level, upgrading was easy and without pressure.

After all, Lu Xun's fusion was with the Special-level Red Orge Gene, meaning he was essentially retracing the same path he had walked before.

But beyond the Special Level, there was no path ahead, requiring exponentially more Trait Points to forcefully blaze a trail and continue forward.

The cost-to-benefit ratio was too low.

So Lu Xun's Plan A was: save up Trait Points for now. Once he had collected the Lord-level Red Orge Gene, upgrading would be much more efficient.

Of course, there was also Plan B: find other species with 99%+ compatibility, merge with new genes—the more, the better.

The two plans weren't conflicting and could proceed simultaneously.

"I have to find a way to earn Trait Points..."

Seeing the balance showing "0" Trait Points, Lu Xun felt an unmistakable sense of melancholy.

Thirteen years of accumulation spent in one night.

It would be almost impossible to accelerate through four Great Realm levels in one go like this ever again.

There was only one way to earn Trait Points: analyze new things and record new entries.

It's a process of gradual accumulation over time.

Since crossing over at the age of 4, Lu Xun had to touch everything new he encountered.

As of today, he had analyzed almost all the biological and non-biological entities he could encounter in daily life.

Only books could provide him with stable Trait Points.

Books were just carriers; the real value lay in the knowledge and information within.

But the efficiency of obtaining Trait Points through "reading" was very low.

According to Lu Xun's calculations, he needed to analyze hundreds of unread books to gain one Trait Point.

If he relied solely on "reading," he'd have to toil for many years to break through to the Lord Level.

"Take it slow, haste makes waste."

Lu Xun comforted himself with these words.

Then he remembered that he had won a trophy last night, which seemed yet to be analyzed!

He immediately rolled out of bed, retrieving a pure black metal handle from deep in the wardrobe.

It was the very green Plasma Light Saber!

"Analyze!"
