Those people took all her money and walked away, swearing with their pants held. Shea Thorne didn't move; she couldn't move, her whole body felt as if those people had stripped the skin off her.
A glimmer of hope still lingered in her heart. She knew that it wouldn't be long before daylight broke, and Miles Crawford would run from the alley on the right to rescue her.

His fingers intertwined in her hair, massaging several acupoints to try and relax her.
"Ariana, let go, it's okay now." Her bite had wounded his shoulder, surely causing the skin to swell, but her reaction pained him more.
