Chapter 49 - Chapter 49

John suddenly felt a pang of conscience; Art could still produce some surprises.

Would I hurt him too much by treating him this way?

However, this thought was instantly thrown to the back of his mind when Sophie stumbled back.

John took the medicine and saw that it was indeed medication for mental illness.

Huh? There's also one for photosensitivity. This is good, feed him this.

"Art, pry open her mouth."

John looked at the pitch-black Evil Spirit and didn't dare to reach out carelessly; it wouldn't be good if his hand was bitten off.

Art reached out, fumbling tremblingly, and finally found the mouth, but his wrist was bitten off directly by the Evil Spirit.

"Wuwuwu."

Art held up his gushing, severed hand to John, whimpering incessantly, his expression as if to say,

My hand, my hand!

"If it's broken, it's broken. Just put it back on, isn't it?"

John pushed Art away and poured all the medicine into the Evil Spirit's mouth, then had Jeepers Creepers cover the Evil Spirit's mouth.

The Evil Spirit, which was in a temporary state of dizziness, immediately went berserk.

It directly shook off the Jeepers Creepers pressing on it and started scurrying around in place, as if it was about to mutate.

Seeing this scene, John silently shielded Art in front of him.

At the same time, a phantom card appeared in his hand.

"Evil Spirit Diana detected."

"Status: About to shed skin."

John frowned upon seeing the status. What does 'shedding skin' mean after feeding it two pills?

Logically, isn't Diana just an Evil Spirit?

Unless this skin is about to be discarded.

"WC, Jeepers Creepers, hold her down for me!"

Jeepers Creepers received the command, and the bat wings on his back immediately spread out, filling the basement.

Sophie fainted directly upon seeing this scene.

John had Art carry the disoriented old woman upstairs first, then released Evil Spirit to compress the Evil Spirit's movement space as much as possible.

"Oh right, Art, and your hand."

John didn't forget to pick up the severed hand and stuff it into Art's arms.

Upstairs in the living room.

Several people were trembling, especially Rebecca's boyfriend, Brett, who seemed to have developed a high fever after being scratched by the Evil Spirit.

Coupled with the commotion from the basement, it was like a World War II battle was happening.

Anyone would be scared in such a situation.

Martin wanted to bravely go down and see, but the basement door seemed to be sucked by a magnet and was not something a child like him could open at all.

"Wuaa wuaa."

The wailing siren was unusually conspicuous in the neighborhood.

Two police officers got out of the car.

The Black police officer stepped on the ground and said uncertainly,

"Milan, it felt like an earthquake just now, did you feel it?"

The White female police officer rolled her eyes at him and said,

"I think you've had too much to drink. Let's go handle the caller's issue first."

The Black police officer thought the same, asked a random person, arrived at the reported location, and then knocked on the door.

The door opened.

It was a small boy.

The female police officer bent down slightly and asked the small boy,

"Hey, where are your family? Why are you alone?"

Ma Ding pointed inside the house and said,

"They are injured inside, and the Exorcist Master is fighting the demon in the basement."

The female police officer and the Black police officer exchanged glances, thinking the small boy had watched too much TV, even mentioning exorcists and demons.

The caller had reported a mentally deranged woman.

Out of caution, both still drew their guns. There was no other way; in this chaotic country, the death rate of American police officers during missions was too high.

Some people who seemed harmless could pull out a gun and shoot the next second.

Experienced old police chiefs would always draw their guns immediately.

Led by Martin.

The two police officers entered the house.

Their handguns were equipped with flashlights, allowing them to barely make out the situation in the living room.

A severely injured man lay in a woman's arms.

There was also an unconscious old woman on the floor.

And a man dressed as a clown hiding in a dark corner, seemingly piecing something together.

"Hey, hands up!"

The Black police officer naturally assumed that this seemingly comical clown was the culprit, not to mention he was covered in blood.

The female police officer was confused, but hearing her partner's warning, she instinctively raised her handgun and aimed it at the clown in the corner.

"Clatter."

Art looked at the severed hand that had fallen to the ground and slowly turned around, looking darkly at the two police officers.

Rebecca quickly spoke up.

"No, the clown is innocent. He's the Exorcist Master's helper. The real mentally ill person is in the basement."

As if responding to Rebecca's explanation.

A strange cry came from the basement, attracting the attention of the two police officers.

It made them cautiously approach the basement, preparing to investigate.

"Click."

The door suddenly opened from the inside.

If it were according to usual routines, the two police officers would have already been dragged into the basement and finished.

But the one who walked out was John.

The two highly nervous police officers held their guns aimed at John, but there was no panic on his face as he faced the warnings from the two police officers.

As the Black police officer was loudly yelling, he suddenly noticed a pair of black claws on the dark doorframe behind John; those were definitely not human.

"Milan, on the doorframe!"

Milan looked up: "There's nothing."

The Black police officer was sure he wasn't seeing things.

"This is impossible."

"Want to know? Just go in and see for yourself, won't you?"

John ignored the dark muzzle. After fusing with the Undying Body, even a weakened version, a handgun couldn't cause him much damage.

Unless someone came with a rocket launcher and fired a shot, leaving him no chance to recover, otherwise he could recover.

Of course, there was still a limit; it consumed stamina and his own energy. Jeepers Creepers's Undying Body was fundamentally different from Jason's and theirs.

The two police officers exchanged glances and were not reckless enough to actually rush in to see.

John walked up to Rebecca and comforted her.

"Your mother is fine, she just fainted from fright. I'm taking Diana with me. Brett will be fine."

Rebecca still couldn't believe it.

"Is it really alright?"

"It's fine. I still have some things to do, so I'll be leaving first." John then patted Martin's head and walked out the door.

Under the gaze of several people.

Under the illumination of the police car lights outside the door, a black figure could faintly be seen, indistinctly following John's figure as he slowly walked away.

...

Having already contained the Evil Spirit, John wouldn't stay any longer. Was he supposed to stay for dinner?

Forget it, no need to make it too sentimental.

But it was indeed a close call.

The cunningness of this Evil Spirit was unusually high; it actually feigned death to trick him into giving it medicine. The skin was the key to the seal, and Diana's true body was trapped inside.

If the Evil Spirit had truly escaped the skin.

John estimated his first target would be him, or perhaps Sophie and Rebecca on the ground.

It had a bit of a 'Painted Skin' feel to it, but this one was even more sinister.

The Evil Spirit was born by using a believer's skin, killing Rebecca's father and employees.

But ultimately, it was trapped by the skin.

A phantom card appeared in John's hand. Against a pitch-black background, a doorframe stood upright, and a black Evil Spirit could vaguely be seen lurking in the darkness behind the door.
