Liu Laobo had been a long-time resident inside Xuanwu Gate for many years. The kind-hearted old man, upon learning that Qin Yuesheng wanted to stay here for a few days, volunteered to give up a room for him, refusing to accept even a tael of silver.
Just as Qin Yuesheng was staring blankly at the sky, the nearby houses suddenly became chaotic. Many of the villagers hurriedly pulled their children, who were still playing outside, back into their homes, locking the doors tightly as if preparing for an impending great enemy.
Qin Yuesheng was instantly alert, remembering from his previous chats with Liu Laobo that only when Xuanwu Gate was threatened would the people become so tense.
"Liu Laobo, I'm going out for a bit." Qin Yuesheng immediately stood up, calling out to Liu Laobo, who was still grinding soybeans.
"Exterminate maggots? Where are the maggots?" Liu Laobo asked nervously.
