Golden eyes stared into honey-brown ones.
Yasaka and I were currently in her office, discussing some of my future plans and how that will affect us going forwards.
Kunou and Hana were elsewhere in the mansion, watching some old magical girl cartoons.
Finally breaking eye contact to pinch the bridge of her nose, Yasaka sighed.
"Do you know how complicated you made this?" She seemed defeated.
"Not really, no. Those books you gave me had a lot of the 'how' of a Sage, but not much else. Did you do that on purpose?" I had always wondered about some of those books. Lots of it was basic stuff, but there was the odd note or advanced book that felt out of place compared to the rest.
"Yes, but that was a miscalculation on our part. We noticed you had met the minimum for the Path of Body, and being in good graces with a nascent Sage is never a bad idea." She explained, trying to sound patient but failing.
"Ok, that makes sense. What is the issue?" I tiled my head.
"The issue, Sage, is that you weren't supposed to be so fast!" She was nearly shouting by the end.
"Fast?" I was taken aback. Sure the motes sped things along, but realistically my talent is kind of average when not propped up by a mote.
Yasaka took a deep breath while closing her eyes, trying to figure out how to word her next sentence.
"Those books on Sagehood we gave you were supposed to be bait. They might as well have been pamphlets that said 'Sages exist' and nothing else. They had none of the rituals usually used, none of the medicines used to support training, none of the libraries of experiences from ancestors who have walked that path before."
"So what? This was some elaborate plan to trick me into your faction?" I asked, slightly offended. I might have to rethink some of my plans depending on how this conversation goes.
"No, there is some information you're either missing or just not understanding properly. All those senjutsu books we gave you were enough for 10 to 20 years of self-study, depending on your talent and how much you focused on them. I thought you would barely read the Sage books, not become one." She accused.
"Huh? I ruined your plans by being too talented?" I asked in shock, and she shot me a glare. This was taking a weird turn, but not as bad as it could have been.
"Stop making it sound so malicious. You were a talented child, and if you had come back to visit in 30 years as a Mid-Class or even a High-Class, our investment would have already repaid itself many times over."
"So it was more just you giving me some cheap books for helping Kunou, and if we stayed friends because of it then you get a double win. Sly fox." Yasaka shrugged as if to say 'yeah, basically' but she did preen a little bit at the end.
Are both foxes weak to praise? Interesting.
"You went and ruined that plan by becoming a Sage. That's supposed to take hundreds of years optimistically, not ten. As a faction leader, even if I'm not trying to screw you over, I still have to adjust my plans." She complained, sagging into her seat.
I can see that, alot of her actions aren't just about herself. She has expectations placed on her about how she interacts with high value people.
Suddenly her expression turned teasing.
"Speaking of you being a Sage, I hope you like people groveling." There was an edge to her voice that I did not like.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked with a slowly growing dread.
"As a Sage, you are basically a walking god for all yokai, especially the ones more in tune with nature. If they aren't worshipping the ground you walk on, prepare for a lot of single ladies to 'get lost' straight into your room." She explained with a growing grin, amusement heavy in her voice.
"It can't be that serious, right?" I have never talked to a girl before, I was too busy with research and then Hana.
"Nathan, I will personally grind your hips to dust if you purify some of the more cursed corners of the yokai subdimension. It is that serious." Yasaka was staring at me with heat in her eyes.
"There's no need to go that far, right?" I gulped, my throat feeling dry with a blush growing on my cheeks.
Yasaka's response was to tug her yukata down her shoulders, freeing her large breasts.
They looked even larger when they weren't covered, perky for their size with puffy pink nipples standing erect.
I stood frozen, staring straight at them, unable to process what was happening.
"Like what you see?" Yasaka asked, her expression explicitly foxlike.
She reached down with one hand and lifted a breast, squeezing it to show how soft it was.
"They are...very nice ma'am, but I don't think this is appropriate." I gulped, shifting my gaze from breast to breast, sometimes tracing her delicate neck to her shoulders.
"Fufu, all you have to do is say the word and these are ~all~ yours." She purred, popping her chest slightly to cause them both to bounce enticingly.
Finally breaking my gaze away from her wonderful tits, I looked into her heated eyes.
She just licked her lips.
"I think we should stop here, ma'am. I do appreciate the show though." I managed to stutter out.
"Alright, I wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable. I can tell you liked it." She added, glancing at my waist.
She still did not cover herself, but she did seem to relax.
The casual nudity was almost hotter.
"Thank you."
"This was just a taste of what's to come for you. I don't think you realize how huge of a deal a Sage is, especially one as young as you. Honey traps will be the nicest recruitment attempts." She lectured
"I'll keep that in mind." I said as I walked towards the door.
"Oh, and Nathan?" Yasaka called to me as I neared the exit.
I turned around, once again getting an eyeful of those tasty looking nipples.
"Kunou might hide it, but she is hornier than me. You have my full blessing." She said with a sultry smirk, pinching one of her nipples.
"I have a lot to think about."
Leaving Yasaka's office, I should have been thinking about what it means for me to be a sage.
Instead I couldn't stop thinking about Yasaka.
[LINE BREAK]
Taking a few minutes to calm myself down, I eventually made my way to where I detected Hana's amulet was.
Opening the door, I saw Hana and Kunou following along with the magical girl transformation on the TV, jumping around and waving their arms in sync.
Hana looked absolutely adorable, I wish I had my camera on me. My mother would have loved to see this.
Kunou on the other hand, she looked good prancing around. I had to put effort into blocking out what her mother said.
"Daddy!" Hana called out, spotting me watching from the door.
"Hey Little Flower, having fun?" I asked.
"Nuh uh. I'm not Little Flower right now!" She denied.
"Oh?"
"Yeah, right now I'm Magical Girl Fleur, protector of all flowers everywhere!" She declared while pointing to the flower currently pinned in her hair.
"Every flower?" I gasped. "That's a lot of flowers." I played along.
"That's why Fleur is stronger than Magical Girl Foxy." Hana said with satisfaction.
Kunou, listening to our little by-play pretended she was struck by Hana's words.
"You wound me Fleur, I thought that was our secret!" She gritted out.
Haha just laughed and ran away, plopping herself in front of the TV.
Kunou just watched her leave and smiled before turning to me.
"How was your meeting with my mom?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. It made her ears wobble in an adorable way.
"It was enlightening." I replied, struggling to make eye contact with her.
"Enlightening?"
"Yup. We talked about what it means to be a Sage and some of my possible duties while I'm here." I explained. It was technically the truth, I couldn't just tell Kunou her mom has amazing tits.
"Oh right. How could I forget? How can this lowly fox help an exalted Sage?" She deadpanned while I groaned. She was still upset about dinner last night.
No appreciation for dramatics.
"Don't start with that. Your mother warned me about how people might treat me once they know what I am. We didn't even talk about Hana yet, that is its own can of worms." I was not looking forward to dealing with any of that.
"Heh, serves you right." She scoffed. Woman can really hold a grudge.
"If you're still upset, why don't you show Hana and me around the yokai dimension tonight? I have only seen your house so far, and I want to try some of the food." That must have been the right thing to say, as Kunou perked right up.
"Really?" She asked, jumping close to me and staring straight into my eyes.
She realized she was too close, as she did a little fake cough and stepped back.
"I mean, I would love to show you around. I can show you all my favorite spots." She tried to not look too interested, but her tails were wagging again. I could hear some of them brushing against the floor.
"Sounds good then. We can go after Hana's afternoon nap?" I offered.
"That sounds wonderful!" She smiled brightly. I never noticed she had slightly pronounced canines, but they were more cute than anything.
After hashing out the rest of our plans, we joined Hana on the couch to watch TV.
Hana just snuggled into me and started narrating what was happening.
[LINE BREAK]
We spent the afternoon touring around the dimension, Kunou showing us some interesting stores and parks.
The restaurant Kunou ended up choosing for us at the end of the night was not the highest end place in the entire dimension, but she swore by their food and had a pass to get us into the nicer section.
Our waiter gave me and Hana some looks for being guided by Kunou, but we were seated without fuss.
Hana happily started browsing the menu, wowed by all the colorful pictures of delicious food. I took the more direct route.
"What do you recommend here?" I asked my host.
Kunou was dressed up nice, and had her hair in a half up but still left some hair loose in the back. It looked really good on her.
Meanwhile, Hana and I were borrowing some cheap dress clothes. Nicer than you would wear normally, but nothing outrageous.
Depending on how long we stay here, I might need to go shopping for some clothes and such.
"Today's special is always good, that is what I'm getting." She didn't even touch the menu, I guess she really does come here a lot.
"I'll do the same then." I politely replied, and she just smirked.
"I want the fishy-fingers!" Hana added from the side, pointing to a picture on her menu.
I glanced at Kunou, and she nodded her head.
"Sure, you can get the fish fingers." Hana was vibrating in excitement.
Leaning down to her, I whispered in her ear. "Remember, don't eat any natural energy until we are home, and I'll give you some candy."
She just nodded her head over and over.
We just chatted for a while before the waiter took our order. We talked about our families, what we usually do, anything and everything was a topic.
Hana sometimes cut in, adding her own 4 year old view to the conversation.
Eventually our food arrived, one set of fish fingers and two daily special soups. Some sort of fish broth.
The conversation died as we all enjoyed our hot food.
It was a wonderful evening, but the atmosphere did not last.
"Well well well, look who is here." Came an annoying voice from the entrance.
Hana and I looked towards the voice, but Kunou just winced and whispered "Oh no."
In strode what could only be called a stereotypical young master. He even had lackeys. His only distinguishing features was a single bushy tail and a pair of dog ears.
"Kunou my dearest, you brushed me off tonight for 'official business', but here you are dining with a human." He almost spat that last word.
"Don't call me that. I am on official business right now, mother pulled me off all my duties to be our guest's guide." Kunou almost growled at him.
I'm sensing she doesn't like this guy.
"Tsk, so cold. If we married we could lead the yokai to new heights. Why can't you see that?" His tone was like he was doing her a favor, but his words didn't match up.
He tried to put his hand on her shoulder but she slapped it away.
It caused his facade to crack a little, and he turned to direct his hostility to me instead.
"And who are you to be dining with the princess, huh?" He sneered at me.
"I'm just a humble human senjutsu user. I met Kunou when we were young and I was visiting to catch up with her." I explained with a smile.
It caused his smile to totally drop.
"So you are a nobody?" He then lifted his hand, signaling to his posse " Men... take him out back and rough him up a bit. Make sure he stays away from my future wife."
Kunou just looked disgusted, but knowing how strong even the weakest Sage was, just watched. She did pull Hana into her lap.
"Boss? What about the girl?" One of the lackeys asked.
"What about her? She's a child you moron, use your brain!" The Young Master snapped back.
At least he gets to survive the night. He seems stupid, not evil.
The group of lackeys approached me while Kunou was content to watch. The Young Master took this as permission.
"If you come quietly we won't even have to break anything." One of them mock-offered while his hands started to glow with the familiar flames of touki.
They were much less controlled than mine, honed by years of Touki running.
Looking around and seeing all the other guests staring, I realized there was no way out of this.
Sighing, I picked up some of the spare utensils on the table and applied some Formations to them.
After years of practice, imprinting multiple energy related Formations with a flash of touki was a breeze.
The lackeys couldn't even react as I threw a utensil at each of them and hit center mass.
The one flaring his touki had it extinguish, and they all collapsed.
Making a formation that scrambles someone's Ki was easy, and add another to keep them paralyzed?
I could do that years ago for someone so weak.
The Young Master looked shocked at what happened, seeing his lackeys on the floor but breathing.
Hana started cheering and Kunou had a smirk that she was trying to hide.
Young Master looked like he was going to explode before he turned around and yelled.
"Uncle! Help me!"
"What's going on?" Asked an aged voice, an older dog yokai walking into the restaurant.
"He attacked my guards." Said the Young Master, pointing at me.
The older yokai hummed and turned to look at me.
He then blinked.
And blinked again.
Before smacking the Young Master so hard even Hana winced, before forcing him into a bow.
"We are sorry Elder, I don't know what my nephew was thinking. I'll take him home and make sure he is properly educated at once!" The older yokai rambled, peaking at me to gauge my reaction.
I was too shocked by the turn around, so I just waved him off.
"Yeah sure, just... take him away. He ruined our meal." I said to him, faking what little composure I had for this bizarre situation.
"Thank you Elder. We will be leaving now." He hurriedly turned and yanked the Young Master away, with some older looking guards carrying the lackeys out.
Young Master tried to spit out some words, but the older yokai just smacked him again.
Once they left, Kunou and I made eye contact before bursting out laughing.
"Did you see his face when he got smacked? He was so confused."
"I'm never letting him live this down." Kunou got out once the giggles subsided.
"Who was that?" I asked.
"That was the Heir of the Dog Clan, one of the bigger yokai clans." She explained.
"One of those marriage woes you explained yesterday?"
Kunou scrunched her nose up and nodded.
"Yeah, their clan has been particularly persistent. They claim that 'it's only natural for foxes and dogs to mix', it's really annoying."
I looked around, seeing the other guests still staring and whispering, before I turned back to Kunou.
"I think our meal is over now, would you like to go home?"
Hana was nodding off but still hungry from not purifying any natural energy yet.
"I think that's a good idea." Kunou was still cracking up at what happened.
She told the waiter to put the meal on her tab, and we walked out into the streets.
I was carrying Hana while Kunou walked beside me.
"Tonight was really nice, and the after dinner show was a riot." She snickered. I think her kitsune instincts are making her like the chaos too much.
"It's no problem. They brought that on themselves." I shrugged back.
We walked back to her mansion in peaceful silence.
"You know, that was my first date?" Kunou opened out of nowhere.
"Really? I would think you would have Heiress duties or something that would count."
"Nope, it's my first. It was a lot of fun too, so...."
"So what?" I turned to ask, but was cut off with a kiss.
She tasted of spiced fish, but I couldn't bring myself to care.
Finally breaking the kiss, Kunou leaned back and licked the saliva string that formed.
I couldn't tell what was brighter, her smile or her blush.
"Thanks for the night, I'llseeyoulater." Was all I heard and she dashed inside, leaving me holding Hana at the door.
I just stood in silence for a minute.
"Nice." I mumbled to myself.
"Whuzzat, Daddy?" Hana mumbled in my arms.
"Nothing, go back to sleep."
"Kay."
Japan is great.
