Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Correct Way to Use the Golden Finger

Evening.

In a farmland at the southeast corner of Mill Town.

A patch of golden rice was trampled and scattered, as if several wild boars had ravaged it.

"Huff~ Huff~"

Raine panted heavily.

Following his gaze, you could see two short green-skinned creatures sprawled in a pool of blood.

Raine looked down again at the bloodstained fork in his hand, his mind a bit dazed. This was the first time he had killed any intelligent creature, whether in this life or the last.

This was also his third day after crossing into this world.

In his previous life, he did well academically, smoothly entering college. But unfortunately, as a liberal arts graduate, graduating almost meant unemployment.

Sure enough, after graduation, after months of wandering, he ultimately chose to hop onto a small electric scooter for flexible employment.

But unfortunately, during a rush order, he met with love at the corner.

And so, he came to this world, reborn in the body of an eighteen-year-old farmer.

A true farmer!

On the first day after crossing over, Raine awakened his "Golden Finger,"

[Name: Raine]

[Class: Farmer]

[Power: 5] (Represents muscle intensity and physical strength)

[Agility: 5] (Represents bodily coordination, flexibility, reaction speed, and balance)

[Constitution: 5] (Represents health status, endurance, and life force, reflected in disease resistance, fatigue resistance, and damage tolerance)

[Intelligence: 7] (Represents mental capacity, memory, learning, reasoning, and logical thinking)

[Perception: 5] (Represents willpower, intuition, insight, and common sense judgment)

[Charm: 5] (Represents inner attraction, persuasion, and leadership ability)

(Note: The attributes of a normal adult male are 5 points each.)

The text was very clear, Class—Farmer.

The only attribute with a higher intelligence, Raine guessed, was due to his soul as a modern person, having gone through over a decade of hard study.

"Sigh~"

"Monsters are showing up around me, so how exactly am I supposed to use this Golden Finger?"

Raine couldn't help but sigh.

Upon crossing over, he learned from his predecessor's memories that this world was filled with all sorts of fantastical monsters and miraculous forces.

Whether it was the goblins, oozes, and kobolds that could be encountered around Mill Town, or the distant legends of giant dragons and divine beings, it seemed they were not just tales from a minstrel's mouth.

Because Raine had personally seen in Mill Town's Oak Inn a slender and graceful female elf with a big bow on her back.

Those pointed long furry ears were so striking.

When he first crossed over, Raine was rather happy; after all, with a Golden Finger, a bright road awaited him.

But after two continuous days, he discovered that this Golden Finger seemed to have no other function but to display his body's various attributes.

Oh, and below the attribute panel, there was a row of square blanks similar to a skill bar in online games.

But strangely, all four blanks were empty.

In the past two days, he also tried concentrating while weeding, harvesting rice, and even chopping a wooden sword, imagining a generation of corresponding skill icons, but unfortunately, all attempts failed.

"Hmm?"

"Wait! Aren't the blanks not empty now?"

Suddenly, Raine froze, as he caught a glimpse of something from the corner of his eye!

He immediately focused again on the four square blanks under the attribute panel.

To his astonishment, at this moment, the first and second squares contained two identical monster icons—

Precisely portraits of the goblins he had just killed with his fork.

However, the pattern exuded a faint gray, like some kind of monochrome memorial image.

"Is this.....some sort of kill record?"

In fact, killing the goblins was an accidental incident.

Today Raine had come to stack a part of the family's harvested rice straw in the field.

Yes, stacking.

Don't be surprised; this was an ability from his predecessor.

After crossing over, Raine inherited a series of skills necessary for a farmer, such as weeding, composting, farming, stacking, etc.

He could pat his chest and guarantee that if he returned, in terms of familiarity with farming, he could outdo most undergraduate students in agricultural universities.

At that moment, while stacking with a fork, he suddenly turned and saw a sneaky green-skinned dwarf planning to sneak attack him from behind!

Raine initially had no intention of fighting; he fled.

Because the opponent held a short dart and, according to the instructor during military training in his previous life, encountering a criminal with a weapon means not hesitating and fleeing at the first moment.

Raine was obedient.

But unfortunately, after running two steps, he found that the other end of the path was also blocked by a second green-skinned dwarf with a club.

This forced Raine into a fight backed by adversity.

Once in battle, he discovered that with the fork in hand, he was like a war god incarnate.

Whether it was the first goblin's short dart or the second goblin's club, they couldn't attack him in a short time.

In the end, though somewhat flustered, after a few jabs, he managed to kill those two goblins.

"Because I personally killed them, the goblin souls were absorbed by the system?" A joyful Raine surmised.

Thinking it over, he attempted to focus his spiritual power on the icon of the first goblin.

Suddenly, the icon seemed to be pressed like an elevator button.

In the next moment, the square blank lit up.

The original monochrome memorial image suddenly turned colorful, and the goblin on the icon immediately became lifelike.

Whether it was its mouthful of sharp teeth, or the saliva that seemed to almost drip, all were so vivid.

For a moment, the goblin seemed to come alive.

Before Raine could think more, he suddenly felt all his muscles seemed to tighten a bit, and simultaneously, a warm current rose in his lower abdomen, with a particular desire for reproduction emerging in his mind.

"This...."

As he remained a bit perplexed, the corner of his eye again swept over the attribute panel,

[Name: Raine]

[Class: Farmer]

[Blessed Bloodline: Ordinary Goblin Bloodline]

[Bloodline Talent: High-speed Reproduction Lv2...Dexterity Lv1....]

[Power: 5]

[Agility: 5 (+1)]

[Constitution: 5]

[Intelligence: 7]

[Perception: 5]

[Charm: 5]

"I can bless myself with the goblin bloodline I just killed?" Raine glanced, dumbstruck.

Next, he naturally focused on the bloodline talent.

"High-speed Reproduction Lv2?"

"It's even a Lv2 skill?!

For someone with some knowledge of games, he naturally knew that Lv2 skills were stronger than Lv1 skills.

He just noticed a small line behind High-speed Reproduction, seemingly describing its effects.

High-speed Reproduction Lv2 effect: Allows reproduction with the vast majority of mammalian species without reproductive isolation, with more than seven sperm at once, offspring showing strong dominance and growing rapidly.

"This effect..."

Seeing the skill's effect, Raine was somewhat speechless.

However, it helped Raine gain some insight into why goblins, these green-skinned dwarfs, could proliferate so much in this world.

From his limited biological knowledge in understanding the system's description, more sperm meant that even if a goblin's mating partner had only one egg, multiple sperms would enter it, forming semi-identical multiple offspring.

And the offspring's strong dominance meant that when goblin offspring were from cross-species mating, they largely retained goblin traits.

Although they might absorb some traits of the mating species, the majority of physical traits would display goblin features.

Like double eyelids being dominant.

"Dexterity Lv1?" Soon, Raine noticed the second bloodline talent.

Evidently, compared to the previous "High-speed Reproduction Lv2," the current "Dexterity Lv1" was more practical for him.

Dexterity Lv1 effect: Agility +1.

(Note: Under current physical condition)

The tight muscle effect just now must have originated from this.

Although the system's description of Dexterity Lv1 effect was just a few short words.

The fewer words, the greater the matter.

Raine had already realized this must be the correct way to open his Golden Finger—killing monsters.
