Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Problematic Leather Armor

The time goes back twenty seconds.

Raine's sneak attack spear from behind pierced the Wild Boar Warrior's lower back, causing a near-penetrating massive wound.

The Long Spear is slightly different from a sword or dagger; it's a rhombus-shaped stab wound, with a strong bleeding effect.

Indeed, as Raine quickly pulled out the Long Spear, a stream of foul-smelling blood shot out instantly.

After this successful strike, Raine didn't linger in battle but quickly retreated two steps.

"Hoo!!"

The Wild Boar Warrior known as Broken Fang, who was suddenly ambushed by Raine, swung its Nail Head Hammer in a sweeping motion behind it in pain.

However, since Raine had already retreated, this blow was in vain!

"Snort, you vile insect! Broken Fang will crush you into mince!"

The only remaining eye of the Wild Boar Warrior Broken Fang was blood-red, clearly, it was enraged to the utmost extent.

And at this moment, it also saw clearly that the one who severely injured it from behind was that despicable human who had blinded its eye with Magic.

Double hatred filled its mind, and Broken Fang had only one thought at the moment, which was to crush the opponent into minced meat with its Nail Spike Warhammer!

However, the penetrating injury on its right side obviously hindered its movements.

With every step it took, fresh blood would gush out from the gaping red flesh wound.

In addition to the wound on its back and the dagger on the trapezius of its left rear neck continuously releasing poison, Thorn Fang's battle power was at most only thirty to forty percent of its peak.

After easily dodging the opponent's hammer swings twice, every sign made Raine quickly judge.

The Wild Boar Warrior in front had already reached its last stand.

"Whoosh!"

"Whoosh!"

Meanwhile, Chris and the other two held crossbow arrows, aiming at its only intact right eye, continuously harassing it with shots.

This forced Broken Fang to squint its intact right eye, sometimes stopping to wave its hand to deflect the crossbow arrows.

"Plop!"

Taking advantage of this, Raine easily found another chance, quickly maneuvering to the side of Broken Fang's blinded left eye and thrusting another spear towards its left waist.

An infant fist-sized penetrating wound appeared again on the other side of the Wild Boar Warrior's waist.

"Aooo~~~"

This strike seemed to be the last straw that broke the camel's back.

Broken Fang was having trouble moving its legs, and Raine naturally seized the opportunity to take its life, thrusting another spear towards Broken Fang's carotid artery!

This led to the scene reflected in Reya's eyes.

"Aooo~~~"

Wild Boar Warrior Broken Fang let out one last tragic cry towards the sky!

"Boom!!"

Its furry, strong body fell straight to the ground, and the large amount of blood flowing from its multiple wounds quickly stained the ground red.

Reya clearly realized that the Wild Boar Warrior in front of her wasn't the one from the start.

Moreover, as an experienced leader of the Howling Hunter Squad, she realized at once that this was a Wild Boar Warrior upon seeing the special small flag carried on its back.

A creature with a Challenge Level of as high as two!

Her red lips parted slightly but couldn't find the words to say!

On the other hand, Chris, who was clutching his injured left hand, smiled and said, "Captain, we were planning to help you; we didn't expect you to finish off that Wild Boar so quickly."

"Plop! Plop!"

At this time, Raine swiftly put in a few more thrusts, as if to confirm whether the Wild Boar Warrior was completely dead.

"Raine, I somewhat understand why you say you're a Warrior, not a Mage Apprentice."

Grande looked at Raine seriously and said, with a mix of surprise and admiration in his eyes.

"Oh?" Raine was also curious about what Grande might say.

"In that situation, a Mage Apprentice would absolutely not continue fighting, especially not as a temporary team member."

The others also nodded slightly.

Grande's words were absolutely true.

Most Mages are very cautious; they are often the first to flee when a mission goes awry.

It's not that Mages are cowardly or lack team spirit, but from a rational viewpoint, Mages see themselves as fulfilling an agreement, and if tasks have special changes, naturally the agreement is invalid.

At such times, it's every man for himself—it's time to flee separately.

"Raine, but you are different; you not only stayed but fought alongside us."

"I once heard a saying and have always kept it as my creed: Heaven to the left, Warriors to the right."

"With such qualities, you are a true Warrior!"

Raine was momentarily stunned, cheeks slightly red.

He didn't expect to hear this saying in another world one day.

Though part of why he stayed was due to Grande and Chris' fearlessness against mighty foes, the allure of the Wild Boar Warrior Bloodline cannot be disregarded.

Thus, Grande's praise made Raine feel a bit embarrassed.

However, Raine pondered the issue closely—if not for the temptation of the Wild Boar Warrior Bloodline, would he have stayed or retreated?

All of a sudden, he wasn't quite sure of the answer.

Perhaps.... he would have stayed too?

At this thought, Raine chuckled, patting Grande on the shoulder: "If given the choice, I'd choose Heaven."

"However, I hope for a choice where neither needs to be chosen."

"Hey, what are you two talking about!" Fabian at this moment clutched his chest, approaching with a grimace.

"What choice or not?"

"Oh, the Captain's back; it seems the battle over there is over too."

Fabian's interruption made Grande and Raine look over, finding Reya returned, and they waved their hands at once.

Reya finally collecting herself, walked over towards Raine with large, graceful strides.

"Raine, you truly impressed me; for a Mage Apprentice, you have such strong melee abilities." Reya observed Raine and said.

"Uh... I just think that in a battle, Magic has usage limits and there will be times when Spiritual Power is exhausted, so having decent close combat ability might be a good supplement."

Raine wasn't quite sure how to respond, so he said whatever came to mind.

....

What followed was naturally the delightful phase of collecting loot.

However, relative to the Wild Boar Warrior's superior power, it did not carry any particularly valuable spoils.

As expected, even ordinary Wild Boar People have a massive appetite, nearly five times that of an average adult male.

Most of their time and energy is exhausted in filling their stomachs—either eating or hunting.

Whatever valuable objects they occasionally find are often converted into food.

As for the Wild Boar Warrior's weapon, the Nail Spike Warhammer, although seemingly impressive, had an average material quality, and its huge size makes it unsuitable for ordinary human adventurers.

Even if an adventurer has strength on par with a Wild Boar Warrior, human adventurers would obviously choose more refined weapons.

Hence, neither the two ordinary Wild Boar People nor the Wild Boar Warrior brought any income to the group.

But actually, the biggest gain was them themselves.

According to the Adventurer's Association in Mill Town, the usual reward for ordinary Wild Boar People is 15 Silver Coins, as evidenced by the rewards for this task.

So two of them are worth 30 Silver Coins, along with today's highlight—the Wild Boar Warrior.

Although the Wild Boar Warrior's combat power is equivalent to three ordinary Wild Boar People, its customary reward is not 45 Silver Coins, nor 60 Silver Coins but as much as 70 Silver Coins.

In other words, this task, which took Raine just half a day, brought in 20 Silver Coins when equally distributed.

However, this has to wait until they return to the Adventurer's Association, complete the task settlement, and deduct a small part for Chris' healing costs before distribution.

"Hey? You guys come and look, there's something wrong with this item!"

At this time, while gathering the loot, Fabian suddenly raised the large Leather Armor Vest found on the Wild Boar Warrior and called out.
