No one cared what price Wang Bing would pay for pulling out those spider threads; all they wondered was how this guy had gained such a power.
Someone had already confirmed before: if you kill an evil spirit, you can gain one of its abilities.
It happened by accident—a person killed an evil spirit by chance and got its power.
That person is now a big shot in his own right.
Everyone stared at Wang Bing; was it his final moment, some retaliation from the evil spirit?
He killed it and got its power?
Not impossible!
"Zhao Qi is dead, Zhao Qi is dead!" Ya answered quickly, so anxious she was on the verge of tears.
Why won't he believe her when she says Zhao Qi is dead?
The main thing was, Ya could clearly feel her life force being drawn away by the spider silk.
She'd only been restrained for a few minutes, but she felt her strength and sanity slipping away, her mind suffocating bit by bit.
"It's true, just after we escaped, Zhao Qi got killed by that psycho's parents," Ya said, nearly crying but unable to shed any tears.
She could see the suspicion in Wang Bing's eyes; honestly, if she hadn't seen it herself, she would never have imagined someone as ruthless as Zhao Qi would die so theatrically.
She didn't even know how to explain—how could she say the psycho's parents were actually evil spirits, using him as bait to lure humans home?
"Everything I'm saying is true; I can take you to see Zhao Qi's corpse," Ya explained hurriedly. "And now you've gained the evil spirit's abilities—I wouldn't dare lie to you."
"I also know Jiang Che has a hand chain, and that's why the Spider-Man didn't attack him," Ya blurted out, betraying Jiang Che without a second thought.
Wang Bing hadn't believed Ya, but hearing that last sentence, he finally remembered: that evil spirit had indeed bypassed Jiang Che and gone straight for him.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have been shot, and Zhao Qi wouldn't have opened fire to drag him down while being chased.
And even more importantly, he really did gain an ability.
He wondered if he could escape with it, but the evil spirit was convinced he couldn't run.
No matter where the spider's prey went, as long as they touched spider silk, the spider could sense their every move through it.
He'd given up on escaping already, but now, hearing Ya talk about the hand chain, he suddenly grew interested.
"What hand chain?" He remembered after he'd collapsed and been grabbed by the Spider-Man, Jiang Che had jogged past behind him, brushing by.
He'd always wondered why the Spider-Man hadn't gone after Jiang Che, and now he finally had an answer.
If he could get that hand chain, could he really escape with his new skill?
He didn't care about all that talk about how each use of the spider silk drained your flesh and blood; as long as he could get out, he'd gorge himself on whatever he wanted, make up for every loss, and it wouldn't matter.
"It's a chain an evil spirit gave Jiang Che. I don't know exactly what it does, but it definitely kept him safe from evil spirit attacks," Ya explained hurriedly.
"So now you trust me, right? Zhao Qi really is dead—and it's because of Jiang Che's hand chain," Ya said, trying her hardest to make things simple and clear.
Explaining about the parents being evil spirits sounded way too crazy; there was no easy way to tell all that.
Even if her explanation differed from the truth, at least the outcome was the same.
Wang Bing believed.
Ya didn't mention Jiang Che's clothes.
The coat just looked like a regular doctor's white lab coat; if Ya hadn't seen an evil spirit hand it to Jiang Che herself, seen him put it on and hide his presence, she never would have guessed it had such a power.
The hand chain was even stranger: pale red phalanges, each segment polished until it shone.
You could tell from a glance it was special—and completely impossible to hide.
Wang Bing eyed her seriously, then asked coolly, "Where's Jiang Che?"
He scanned the surroundings—didn't see any trace of Jiang Che.
"I wanted his hand chain, so I set him up to run into trouble with an evil spirit," Ya muttered softly.
Wang Bing suddenly broke into an easy smile on hearing that.
In a split second, he understood why Ya had been hiding alone here.
And he absolutely believed what she said—she set up Jiang Che to die, just for his hand chain.
This is exactly the kind of thing she'd do.
"Oh right, bro, can you tell me how you killed the evil spirit?" Feeling safe for now, Ya twisted her body and threw him a flirtatious wink.
Humans fighting back at death? She didn't believe anyone could do something that powerful.
She didn't care at all about her actions being broadcast live to the whole internet.
Compared to the live stream, mastering that ability mattered way more to her.
"I didn't," Wang Bing said mockingly, watching her squirm twice and wink at him. "I didn't kill it."
"Then how'd you get its power?" Ya asked, momentarily at a loss.
That was the biggest question in her mind; Wang Bing had been so badly wounded, there was no way he could have killed an evil spirit.
And now, apart from being a little gaunt, he'd gotten a power—and survived.
That was about as good an outcome as you could ask for.
"You actually don't need to kill the evil spirit," Wang Bing said with a half-smile. "I just found out—if the evil spirit is willing, it can bestow its ability on you."
"Why would it be willing?" Ya blurted out, not caring if the question might piss Wang Bing off.
She only wanted an answer.
Meanwhile, in her live stream, the number of viewers hit an all-time peak.
[From now on, as long as Ya survives, whatever she does in the dungeon, I'm convinced she's right!]
[What if she sells her body?]
[That's right too! Who says selling can't win!]
[As long as she finds out how to get the skill, if she makes the evil spirit willing, I'll call her Mom, I swear!]
...
The audience was desperate, just wishing they could send a comment straight into the survivor's ears.
"It's simple—I agreed to hunt for him, catch humans to bring back, and he gave me his ability," Wang Bing said. He knew the audience outside was watching this unfold.
A mocking glint flashed in his eyes as he looked at Ya, as if he were staring at millions of people all at once.
There's still no telling if he'll make it out alive—Jiang Che's hand chain is his only hope.
If he can't get that hand chain, he'll never escape the Spider Evil Spirit's pursuit; having this power only delays his death.
There's only one thing he can do now: tell everyone that evil spirits can give humans their abilities.
Let them throw themselves into the meat grinder.
Why would an evil spirit willingly gift humans abilities? Anyone with a brain knows it always costs you your life.
A bunch of idiots!
