Chapter 41 - ## CHAPTER 41## The Visit to Grandfather's Estate

The old-money scent of antique beeswax, damp stone, and sixty years of unpolished mahogany hit Jayden Brii before he even cleared the double-doors of the primary study.

He did not look at the manicured gravel driveway or the three rolling acres of the family estate behind his heels; his eyes were fixed entirely on the frail, skeletal figure sitting behind the massive desk at the far end of the room.

------------------------------

Mr. Garrison Brii sat perfectly straight despite the gray wool blanket pinned across his shoulders, his thin chest moving in slow, hollow rasps under a tailored flannel waistcoat.

His face was a pasty, translucent mask of old age, but his dark eyes remained wide, clear, and completely unblinking as they locked onto his grandson's face.

------------------------------

Jayden stopped four feet from the edge of the desk, his knuckles white as he jammed his hands deep into his blazer pockets to hide the violent tremor in his wrist.

He hadn't slept since the Singapore compliance desk flagged his unlisted tech infrastructure vouchers, and his linen shirt was damp around the collar with cold sweat.

------------------------------

"You look like hell, Jayden," the patriarch said, his voice dropping into a dry, gravelly scratch that sounded like dead leaves dragging across a stone courtyard.

He did not offer a polite grandfatherly greeting; he adjusted his spectacles with a slow, heavy movement of his thick thumb that made his vintage gold watch click against the desk.

------------------------------

"The expansion project in Jakarta is fully solvent, Grandfather," Jayden hissed, his voice rising into a sharp, thin screech that turned the corner of his twitching mouth into a jagged grimace.

"I used a supplementary corporate proxy to clear the short-term margin requirements before the morning market sessions closed."

------------------------------

"The corporate proxy you used was a direct breach of our family alliance bylaws," Garrison said flatly, his words cutting through the room like an axe hitting dry timber.

"Sam's administrative assistants spent the morning downloading your digital validation codes from the central customs network."

------------------------------

The old man reached down and slid a single sheet of heavy, wax-stamped parchment paper down the dark macassar wood table.

"You didn't secure a competitive edge, you idiot. You triggered a systematic structural audit from the state prosecutor's detail."

------------------------------

Jayden's face turned an ugly, mottled purple shade beneath his skin as his eyes scanned the text-heavy rows of the liquidation schedule.

"Marcus Chen verified the ledger timelines! He told me the logistics joint venture with the Clay Corporation would satisfy the underwriting desks!"

------------------------------

"Marcus is an employee who follows the fat of the ledger, Jayden," the patriarch whispered, his clear eyes looking straight through his grandson's frantic posture.

"And Sonya Clay has already signed the formal dissolution papers for the logistics contracts. Her mother's company is out of the channel."

------------------------------

Jayden took two uncoordinated steps backward, his back hitting the cedar bookshelves, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps under the unshielded amber glow of the library lamps.

The room felt suddenly microscopic, the heavy ceiling beams seeming to drop lower over his head like an iron vice.

------------------------------

"She... she backed out of the deep-water licenses?" Jayden stammered, his fingers tearing at the lining of his pockets as his knees began to buckle beneath his trousers.

------------------------------

"She backed out because she has eyes, Jayden," Garrison said flatly, his ancient hand sliding across the table to pick up his book with a final, heavy gesture.

"The board met an hour ago. As of today, your name is officially pulled from the corporate registry node."

------------------------------

The words hit the master study with a cold, permanent finality that seemed to stop the mechanical clock on the mantle entirely.

"The will has been adjusted, grandson. When my heart gives out, the primary estate goes fully to your father. You inherit nothing but a fixed monetary settlement."

------------------------------

"You can't do that!" Jayden roared, his spit flying across the clean mahogany surface as he lunged forward, his fists slamming against the desk hard enough to make the crystal inkwell rattle.

"I am the first-in-line heir! I spent three weeks coordinating those capital drops while my father was too cowardly to stand up to your rules!"

------------------------------

"You are a weak, unstable child playing with legacy assets you don't have the character to protect," the old man said softly, his voice cutting through his grandson's mania with a terrifying, calm neutrality.

"Get out of my sight before I have the estate security detail treat you as a common trespasser."

------------------------------

Jayden didn't answer with corporate data. He slowly backed away from the mahogany desk, his hands shaking violently as he stepped through the threshold into the dark corridor outside.

He felt a cold, electric sense of absolute animal fury crawling up his spine, entirely blind to the fact that the archive Austin Dre had left inside the tower's memory was already waiting to turn his grandfather's rejection into a permanent execution file before the sun went down.
