Archer Quinn had long known that Bella Acker wasn't the type to play with ambiguity, so he was mentally prepared to be rejected after confessing.
But being mentally prepared is one thing; truly hearing her rejection is another.
Archer looked at her, and after a long moment, he smiled bitterly, "I understand."
"Senior Quinn..." Bella didn't know how to comfort him, paused, and said, "I'll go up myself, good night."
The apartment building was not far ahead, and Archer nodded, "Okay, good night."
She nodded at him and walked toward the base of the apartment building.
In matters of the heart, if you can't give a response, not giving the other person hope is the best way.
Archer watched her walk into the apartment building, and only then did he turn to leave.
The feeling of being rejected after confessing wasn't really good; it felt like a pin had pricked his heart. While it didn't hurt much, there was an empty hole letting cold wind in, suffocating.
