Chapter 57 - scene 56

# **Earth**

## **Scene 56: The Countryside Village**

Labeeb is going through difficult times among people who do not value the feelings of a child, nor care about crushing his hopes. Their words, their expressions, their laughter—filled with negativity and destructive to dreams—strip anyone who stays among them of their identity until they become nothing.

"…You failure… What will you ever become? Your place is in the stable… You're studying? And what will school ever do for you? Come on, work… Failure… Idiot… Look at him!"

And other such words that come out of mouths like garbage dumps, their tongues moved by ignorant minds.

Mockery, self-destruction, words that poison the heart of whoever hears them, and the lack of gratitude…

Yes, Labeeb swallows all of this like poison every day.

He and his peers work in this village as if they were prisoners under enemy control.

The grandfather summoned Labeeb, sending someone to call him.

The messenger came and shouted:

"Labeeb the idiot… Labeeb, you failure… you fool… come here!"

**Labeeb entered to find his grandfather furious.**

Grandfather:

"Where is your brother?… Where does he run and hide?

Do you eat like animals without paying the price?… My animals are worth more than all of you!"

Labeeb:

"I don't know where he is… I don't know."

Grandfather:

"Insolent!… Be silent and don't speak in the presence of your masters, you nobody!

If it weren't for me, you would have died of hunger and rats would have feasted on your corpses!"

Then he threw his cigarette at Labeeb's face.

One of the men sitting with the grandfather said:

"Go on, get out, you nobody… out!"
