Chapter 8 - Travel

[A/N: I'm trying to fast forward through the childhood part. What Island should MC go to? Each island can be its own verse. For example, Overlord can be its own island. Re verse, JJK, and so on. MC would only visit a total of 3 islands after Fairy Tail, so I want his main crew to be picked, as after those 3 islands, the event of god velly shall start...]

With him proving his capability so decisively through the Sea King battle, Sinbad began taking 10-year jobs more and more often, accepting the dangerous missions whenever they became available. This led to his frequent disappearance from the guild for extended periods, sometimes vanishing for months at a time as he traveled across distant lands completing these legendary quests.

On one of his many missions, Sinbad passed through a small village named Rosemary Village, a modest settlement nestled in a remote area. This was the village that held Erza.

He was only passing by on his way to another destination, not planning to stay long. But he did take the time to introduce himself to the local children, including Erza. She was instantly captivated by the fact that an actual mage had come to her isolated village, her eyes wide with wonder. She wasn't alone in her excitement, as all of the children gathered around him with similar amazement, asking questions and wanting to hear stories.

Before leaving and continuing on his journey, he helped the village out as a gesture of goodwill. He ventured into the forest and killed a dangerous bear that had been bothering them for weeks, terrorizing their livestock and threatening their safety.

With that task completed quickly, he said goodbye to the grateful villagers, waving as he departed. But he made a mental note to himself to come back and save this village before it eventually gets attacked in the future. After all, to him, Erza was already a member of Fairy Tail in spirit, even if she didn't know it yet.

Year 773

The town of Magnolia suddenly began shaking without warning, the ground trembling beneath people's feet. Its buildings began moving on their mechanical rails, creating a clear, wide path leading from the town's entrance straight to Fairy Tail's headquarters.

Magnolia Town was completely outfitted with technological mechanisms that allowed most of its buildings to slide sideways on tracks and rise up over elevated platforms. This left only a very large, straight road that led from the city's entrance directly to Fairy Tail's headquarters without any obstacles.

Such a peculiar and expensive measure had been taken specifically to make up for the absent-mindedness and destructive tendencies of Gildarts Clive, Fairy Tail's ace member. After returning from his usual, long journeys across the island, he would accidentally walk straight through the town in a direct line. His Crush magic would activate unconsciously, destroying private houses and buildings in his path as he headed to the guild.

"It's Gildarts?" A brown-haired girl asked in shock, her voice rising with surprise. She quickly pulled out her deck of cards, shuffling through them rapidly. She had read them earlier that morning during her daily fortune-telling, and they hadn't told her anything about his return today.

"Oh, that's right. Cana, you don't know about Fairy Tail's strongest member. He is more troublesome than Gildarts since he tends to ignore things below a said level of strength." A veteran guild member explained to the new recruit, who had only joined last year, filling her in on the guild's hierarchy.

Everyone in the guild hall turned towards the entrance, their conversations stopping mid-sentence. They looked on with anticipation as, after some time waiting, Sinbad entered through the door. Or rather, he walked forward and the door shattered into splinters on contact, the wood exploding outward simply because he was too strong. Even his casual walking pace generated enough force to destroy it.

Sinbad sighed, the sound carrying across the now-silent hall. He rubbed his hair with one hand while looking down at the destroyed door with mild annoyance at himself.

"My bad," Sinbad said with a sigh, apologizing for the damage. At some point in his development, it had become extremely hard to hold back his strength properly. \

Picture a giant trying to take care of a tiny ant without crushing it. That giant, at every single moment, needed to be incredibly careful and conscious of their movements to avoid accidentally crushing the fragile ant.

Sinbad's overwhelming strength didn't come from magical power or any spells. He was simply physically powerful beyond normal comprehension. The stronger he got with each battle and each day, the less of his full capability he could safely hold back without accidentally breaking things.

"How were the missions?" Makarov asked from his position, completely unbothered by the destroyed door that would need replacing. This was a common occurrence with their strongest members.

Sinbad's mission had been to kill something that called itself the mountain eater that lived on an island; it was a 10-year quest.

"I accidentally destroyed the small island, so they were not too happy about it," Sinbad said with a sigh, his tone held zero guilt and made it sound like the people on the island had overreact. The statement made everyone's lips twitch involuntarily, some people barely suppressing groans… well, those who were on those islands clearly had it better with the monster compared to Sinbad.

Makarov almost felt like he had a heart attack right then and there, his hand clutching at his chest. Every single time Sinbad stepped out of the guild to take a mission, something significant was destroyed in the process, leading Fairy Tail to constantly get in trouble with the Magic Council and various towns.

The complaints and repair bills never stopped coming. He had to immediately take a long drink from his mug to calm himself and steady his nerves, the alcohol burning down his throat. After all, he had to remind himself repeatedly, Sinbad was only 6 years old at this point.

As Makarov sat there thinking about it more deeply… but the more he thought about it, the more he felt like his soul would literally leave his body and ascend to the afterlife early. Sinbad's strength only kept growing crazier and crazier with each passing month as he got stronger through constant fighting.

The growth seemed exponential rather than linear. Sinbad had even gotten in serious trouble with local authorities once for casually picking up an entire mountain and using it to work out, lifting it repeatedly like it was a normal weight. The officials had been furious since mountains were not supposed to be used like that, and the ecological damage had been severe.

"I have decided to stop taking missions. I plan to start traveling and finding possible people to either join Fairy Tail or me." Sinbad said with a sigh, announcing his new plans. At those wonderful words, Makarov found life and energy returning to him instantly, color flooding back into his face. He nodded happily and enthusiastically without a second thought, relief washing over him.

Sinbad shifted his attention away from Makarov, his golden eyes focusing on the new pair of eyes that had been watching him intently this whole time. It was Cana…

Sinbad and Cana quickly became friends over the following days, forming an unlikely bond. Why did they connect so easily? Simple—Sinbad told her her deepest secret without hesitation, revealing that he knew who her father was.

She was, of course, completely shocked by this revelation, her eyes going wide. She asked Sinbad desperately not to tell her father about her existence, which he agreed to readily, not wanting to get involved in other people's complicated family business.

But when Cana gathered her courage and asked him to train her, to help her become stronger, Sinbad agreed without hesitation. He had a simple reason: she would join his pirate crew in the future when the time came. She agreed to this arrangement, and without thinking twice about the cost, Sinbad immediately set out to locate powerful and rare card spells specifically for her to learn and master.

He was willing to pay a huge amount of money for these spells, emptying his savings without concern. After all, he honestly had nothing else to spend his accumulated wealth on. As a direct result of this investment and intensive training, Cana quickly became far stronger than her anime and manga counterparts would have been at this age, surpassing that timeline significantly.

Although Sinbad would never admit it out loud to anyone, the child in him genuinely enjoyed being a kid again, experiencing childhood for a second time. He had tried to fight against this feeling initially, resisting the urge to just relax and have fun. But in the end, he couldn't help but question himself seriously.

Why was he fighting so hard against the simple idea of having fun and enjoying his youth? Because people would judge him for acting his apparent age? Why should he care about such nonsense and the opinions of others? The realization freed something inside him.

Sinbad didn't stay at the guild for too long after that decision, his restless nature pulling him elsewhere. After spending about a month there reconnecting and training Cana, he set off on his journey. He left the town behind, and the citizens there breathed collective sighs of relief as soon as he departed. They had been genuinely scared the entire time that the whole town would be accidentally erased from existence just from him being nearby.

Setting off, this time, Sinbad didn't set off to do a mission or accept any job. Instead, he went off to explore the world freely, searching for a few specific people he had in mind.
