Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Dream That Felt Like Home

Narration:

Morning sunlight spilled into Hanaya's apartment, warm and golden.

She sat by her bed, staring at the message history that hadn't moved for days.

That one sentence — "Please adopt me, I love you, mummy."

It still echoed in her mind like a song she couldn't forget.

She whispered to herself,

> "I never got married… My life is colorful, but… maybe something's missing."

Her eyes softened as she smiled faintly.

> "Was I… searching for something like this all along?

Taking care of a child… maybe that's what I was meant to do."

Then came another thought — a heavier one.

> "But what would my parents say? They'd probably throw me out of the house…

Still… he needs me."

She stood up, opened her laptop, and said with a quiet laugh —

Hanaya: "Fine. I'll do it. I'll book a flight. Maybe… maybe this is what love feels like."

Her fingers trembled slightly as she confirmed the flight booking.

She wasn't sure if she was crazy or just human.

But her heart felt alive again.

Scene: MK's Room

MK (smiling proudly): "Finally… I did it."

He leaned back in his chair, looking at the charts and numbers glowing on his monitor.

> "My company's up, the profits are great, and my bank account's healthy."

Yet, when he looked around, there was silence.

The kind that made success feel meaningless.

He muttered softly,

> "Still, my parents don't care. They don't even see me. I'm just… a mistake."

He stared at his phone, at the streaming app that once connected him to her.

His eyes softened.

> "Maybe it's time… to say sorry."

He opened the app. The live stream went on.

Hanaya was there — same background, same quiet smile, talking casually to her viewers.

MK (typing): Hello mummy. Do you miss me?

The moment she saw that name — her heart stopped.

Hanaya: "M-MK?! Where have you been?! You scared me! You just disappeared—"

MK: "Mummy… calm down, please. And don't say I'm not your son again, okay?"

Hanaya's eyes welled up as she read his message.

Hanaya: "Do you have any idea how worried I was?"

MK (smiling faintly): "I'm sorry, mummy. I… I shouldn't have said those things before. Please forgive me."

Hanaya: "You know what's funny, MK? Because of you… I booked a flight ticket."

MK: "Wait, what? Why?"

Hanaya: "Because I thought… maybe I should really adopt you. But looks like I'll have to cancel now, huh?"

MK (grinning through tears): "Haha… maybe next time, mummy."

Their chat scrolled with hearts and teasing comments from viewers:

"Aww, her son's back!"

"Family reunion!"

"Just marry already!"

Hanaya laughed, covering her face.

Hanaya: "Stop it, everyone! He's just my baby!"

MK laughed too, tears quietly rolling down.

MK: "Goodnight, mummy."

Hanaya: "Goodnight, my boy."

Narration:

That night, Hanaya dreamt again.

The sky was golden — the same light as the morning she once held him in her arms.

A small boy ran toward her, his eyes bright, his smile just like MK's.

He threw his arms around her waist.

Boy (whispering): "You know what, mummy? I missed you so much… Don't ever scare me again, okay?"

She hugged him back tightly, tears flowing down her cheeks.

Hanaya: "I won't. Never again."

The dream felt too real — so real that when she opened her eyes, her pillow was wet with tears.

She looked at the ceiling, her hand pressed to her chest.

Hanaya (whispering):

> "So it's true… maybe we were mother and son once.

And maybe… we just found each other again."

Narration:

At the same time, far away, MK woke up too — his heart racing, eyes wet.

He looked at the same sky through his window and smiled faintly.

MK: "So… you were really my mummy, huh?"

He c

losed his eyes, a single tear slipping down as morning light filled the room.
