Chapter 27: Wind Release Ninjutsu Training

Kaito's first question was:

"Why is Wind Clone listed as only an E-rank jutsu?"

After reading the scroll carefully, he understood the reason.

Wind Clone is extremely simple in principle. Elemental clones, like regular illusory clones, are simply constructed from their respective elements.

This is why they can launch basic attacks. They disperse when struck with sufficient force.

Because the materials required for Wind Clone are essentially the surrounding air, it's extremely easy to create.

However, it's still very useful, and definitely something he would learn.

He continued reading the rest of the jutsu to understand their effects and applications.

He first finished reading all the E-rank techniques. After studying them thoroughly, he analyzed:

"These jutsu aren't particularly powerful in direct combat. Compared to other offensive techniques, they aren't immediately useful in battle. Instead, I think they're primarily meant to improve Wind Release control and manipulation. They'll likely be very important prerequisites for learning more complex and powerful Wind Release jutsu in the future."

Wind Levitation basically uses wind currents to lift inanimate objects into the air. The weight of objects that can be levitated, the height they can reach, and the duration of levitation all depend on the user's control over Wind Release, as well as their stamina and concentration.

Projectile Control Technique uses wind to manipulate projectiles launched by the user. Thus, shuriken, kunai, or senbon can be guided by wind currents to change direction mid-flight.

Wind Muffling Technique uses wind to suppress sounds around the user, making stealth operations much easier.

Wind Breathing Technique simply creates a subtle current of wind in one direction. It doesn't cause any damage, but it has several practical benefits. For example, it can be used to cover up footprints left behind, or to alter wind direction around you to limit how far your scent can spread. Furthermore, it's probably the foundational technique for all Wind Release jutsu that involve directing air flow.

After finishing his analysis, he sighed and thought to himself:

"I must learn all these techniques. Not necessarily for combat purposes, but to improve my fundamental control over wind chakra."

That being said, Wind Clone, Wind Levitation, Projectile Control, and Wind Muffling—these are all excellent prank jutsu!

Kaito wondered if the shinobi who created these techniques was someone who enjoyed pranks.

As he thought about it, an extremely mischievous idea suddenly popped into Kaito's mind.

This idea could turn the lives of Konoha villagers into absolute chaos! He thought:

"I wonder what Naruto would do if he knew these five techniques! He's terrible as a student and mediocre as a shinobi right now, but he's definitely S-rank when it comes to pranks. Damn, I really want to teach him these someday! I could laugh for years!"

Kaito chuckled at the thought.

He calmed down a bit later, set aside those distracting thoughts, and began reading the D-rank scrolls.

After reading them all carefully, he came to a realization:

"Wow, Wind Release jutsu have incredible potential!"

This thought wasn't because the techniques themselves were overwhelmingly powerful, but because of the remarkable growth potential inherent in Wind Release ninjutsu.

Some of these jutsu, if truly mastered and applied creatively, could eventually become as effective as B-rank or even A-rank techniques.

He then proceeded to analyze each jutsu individually.

Dust Wind Technique is basically a wind-generated smoke screen. It should be particularly suitable for Kaito as a sensory-type ninja who doesn't need visual sight to track enemies. And it's relatively simple, so it's worth learning if he has time.

Wind Cutter was demonstrated by Temari during the Chunin Exams. Although powerful, it requires the use of a large fan as a catalyst. This isn't a weapon Kaito particularly likes. So he might skip this one.

Great Breakthrough is a signature Wind Release technique that creates a powerful gust of wind. There's definitely value in learning it.

Kaito thought he could master this first, and also add Wind Release: Pressure Damage to his future training list as a more advanced version.

Gale Palm is a defensive jutsu. The user releases surrounding air outward from their palms. It can deflect incoming projectiles and also disrupt an enemy's rhythm and balance. However, its effective range is quite short—only about 3 meters.

Wind Pushing Technique is a mobility-enhancement jutsu. Small controlled gusts of wind are released from the hands to aid in evasion and rapid directional changes.

Well, this technique is also relatively simple. Kaito didn't find it particularly impressive on its own, but he had some ideas for future development that might require this jutsu as a foundation.

Air Bullets seems very versatile. Wind chakra is compressed and shaped into spherical projectiles that explode upon impact. Although its power isn't as devastating as the Rasengan, and it only causes moderate damage, it's a very interesting and practical technique.

Kaito wondered if this jutsu could be combined with Wind Clone Technique. This combination could make Wind Clones extremely lethal as suicide attackers.

After analyzing all the available jutsu, he had to make the difficult final decision on which ones to prioritize learning. He thought:

"All these techniques have valuable applications. But can I realistically learn them all?"

He fell into deep thought.

Unable to decide immediately, he decided to calm down and analyze more systematically:

"How many of these jutsu I can learn depends on how quickly I can master them. And merely learning them superficially is meaningless—I need to truly master them. For now, let's eliminate the ones I don't want to learn. Wind Cutter."

He sighed.

"That's the only one I don't want to learn. I want to master all the others! Hmm, I'll prioritize them by importance. The E-rank jutsu are extremely important for developing better control over Wind Release chakra. So they're mandatory."

Among the remaining techniques, considering future potential, Air Bullets might be the most useful offensively.

Next is Wind Pushing Technique. Although not outstanding on its own, if Kaito could later freely create small wind blasts around his body to propel himself in combat, it might become a deadly fighting style.

Great Breakthrough is next in priority, as it forms the foundation for more powerful area-of-effect Wind Release jutsu.

Gale Palm and Dust Wind Technique would be learned last.

Gale Palm provides defensive capability in one direction, but this protection is very brief. And Dust Wind Technique merely provides visual cover, which he doesn't necessarily need.

Kaito thought: "Let's settle on this training plan for now. I still have several years before I might need to participate in actual combat missions."

Kaito hoped to learn all these jutsu within a year. Because next year he wanted to begin studying Earth Release techniques, and perhaps one or two genjutsu as well.

He also wanted to start learning kenjutsu this year—perhaps one or two sword styles that could synergize effectively with Wind Release.

Ending his planning session, he carefully studied the Wind Clone Technique scroll one more time to memorize every detail.

With his preparation complete, he left the Library and went to a secluded training forest to begin practice.

However, what happened next truly surprised him.

He was able to successfully perform the Wind Clone Technique after only one attempt! He was genuinely speechless at the apparent simplicity of this jutsu.

After his initial shock wore off, he analyzed the situation:

"This technique is structurally very similar to the regular Clone Jutsu, and I've already mastered the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Furthermore, my chakra nature is Wind Release, and I've already developed good control over this element through extensive leaf-cutting training. So it's not particularly surprising that I succeeded on my first attempt."

In fact, compared to prodigies like Itachi Uchiha, this achievement wasn't worth mentioning at all.

Itachi had been able to perform a C-rank jutsu—Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique—successfully on his very first try at age six. So mastering an E-rank technique on the first attempt really shouldn't be considered exceptional.
