[ Location: Frostwell Residence - Front Lawn ]
The world suddenly smelled like a dead, rotting ocean.
Thick, unnatural yellow fog poured over the asphalt of my street and rising right out of the center of it was a nightmare.
A tall figure in ragged yellow robes.
No face.
Just a pale mask hiding a squirming pile of tentacles.
Hastur.
The King in Yellow.
The temperature dropped so fast my breath turned into white puffs of smoke.
"What... what is that?" Demetri whispered.
The vampire tracker took a step back, his bright red eyes wide with absolute, primal panic.
"That's the main event," I said, spinning the Void Blade in my hand.
The dark metal hummed, sparking with violet lightning. "You guys are just the opening act."
Felix didn't like being ignored.
The giant vampire meathead growled, his diamond-hard muscles bulging under his cloak.
He didn't care about the cosmic horror rising from the street. He only cared that a human teenager had just mocked him.
"Do not turn your back on the Volturi!" Felix roared.
He blurred, launching himself at my blind spot, aiming a punch that could shatter a brick wall right at the back of my head.
'Are you kidding me? A literal god is showing up to eat the neighbourhood, and this sparkly meathead wants a turf war? Read the room, Twilight.'
I just coated my free left hand in a thick, heavy layer of Aether.
I threw a lazy, backhand slap without turning around.
WHAM.
My glowing knuckles connected with Felix's chest.
It sounded like a cannon going off in the quiet street.
Felix launched.
The giant vampire flew backward through the air like a baseball, sailed clear across my lawn, and smashed directly into my neighbour's parked Buick.
CRUNCH.
The car folded in half around him.
The alarm started blaring instantly but he didn't get back up.
"I said," I muttered, shaking my hand out, "I'm busy."
Jane and Alec stared at the wrecked car in total shock. Their invincible bodyguard had just been swatted away like a mosquito.
But I didn't have time to gloat.
"LITTLE KING." Hastur's voice didn't go through my ears. It vibrated directly into my bones. It sounded like tearing fabric and drowning men.
"YOU CANNOT HIDE."
Four massive tentacles made of rotting yellow light shot out from under the King's robes, whipping toward me faster than bullets.
"Hide? I'm right here, Bozo!" I yelled.
I charged forward.
'Let's dance.'
I ducked the first tentacle, feeling the cosmic rot burn the air next to my ear.
I swung the Void Blade.
SLASH.
The purple-black sword sliced through the yellow light like a hot knife through butter.
The severed piece of the tentacle hit the street and instantly melted the asphalt, turning it into bubbling black sludge.
'I can actually fight him,' I realized, a sharp, arrogant grin spreading across my face. 'He's a god, but down here in the physical world? I have the power to match him.'
Behind me, Jane made a massive mistake.
She was terrified.
She was used to being the scariest thing in the room.
Seeing a Outer god horror broke her brain, and she panicked, defaulting to her only weapon.
She glared at Hastur with her red eyes.
"Pain!" Jane screamed at the Outer God.
'Oh, you idiot.'
You can't torture a concept and you can't put a pain illusion into a mind that exists outside of time and space.
The psychic feedback was instant and brutal.
Jane shrieked, clutching her head. Blood poured from her red eyes, her nose, and her ears. She dropped to her knees, screaming in agony as Hastur's raw, chaotic mind bounced her tiny attack right back at her, multiplied by a thousand.
"FLEA," Hastur hissed.
A yellow tentacle whipped toward the screaming vampire to finish her off.
I sighed.
'I'm going to regret saving her.'
'Telekinesis: Yank.'
I grabbed Jane with my mind and pulled her backward just as the tentacle slammed into the exact spot where she had been kneeling, leaving a ten-foot crater in my front lawn.
Jane tumbled across the grass, sobbing and holding her bleeding eyes. Alec rushed to her side, looking completely lost.
"Stay out of the big-boy fights, Dracula's intern!" I shouted back at them. "You're out of your league on this one!"
I parried another strike from Hastur.
The shockwave of our clash shattered every window on my street.
The ground shook.
My neighbor's house started to groan.
'I can't fight him here. If I unleash my full power of Telekinesis, I'm going to level my own neighbourhood. Mom would definitely ground me. I need my sandbox.'
I blocked a heavy strike and jumped backward, creating distance.
"Hey! Yellow King!"
I yelled, my eyes blazing a bright, toxic violet.
"You want to eat my soul? Come get it on my turf!"
I sheathed my sword and raised both hands.
'Portal Manipulation'
I grabbed the fabric of reality sitting over my front lawn and literally ripped it apart.
SSSHHHRRRIIIP.
A massive, swirling portal tore open in the air.
It was the size of a garage door. On the other side, a dark, ash-filled world with a swirling violet sky waited.
The Upside Down.
"What are you doing?!" Demetri screamed over the howling wind of the portal.
"Changing the venue!" I laughed.
'Gravity Well: SUCK.'
I reversed my telekinesis.
Instead of pushing things away, I created a massive vacuum pulling directly into the portal.
The wind howled. Demetri, Alec, and a bleeding Jane screamed as they were lifted off their feet and sucked into the rift.
I grabbed Felix's unconscious body from the wrecked car with a thought and tossed him in too.
Hastur didn't fight the pull.
The Outer God actually glided forward, eager to follow me.
I jumped backward into the swirling violet light, letting the portal snap shut behind us.
[ Location: The Upside Down - Mirror Frostwell Lawn ][ Time: Frozen ]
We crashed onto the dead, rotting grass of the Upside Down.
Toxic ash drifted down like dirty snow.
The sky above was a swirling, angry violet—the exact color of my aura.
This was my kingdom.
I am the king here.
The vampires scrambled to their feet, looking around in pure horror.
They were choking on the toxic air, their flawless skin already breaking out in rashes from the spores.
"Where are we?!" Alec yelled, holding up his sister. "What is this hell?!"
"This is my kingdom and you are my prisoners ," I said, dusting off my jacket. "Don't touch anything, you might break a bone."
Hastur landed smoothly.
The Yellow King looked up at the sky.
He seemed to grow larger, his tattered robes expanding to block out the horizon.
"FOOLISH BOY," Hastur laughed.
The sound made the dead trees shatter. "YOU BROUGHT ME CLOSER TO THE DARK. I AM STRONGER HERE. THIS WORLD IS ROTTING."
I smiled.
A slow, arrogant, completely relaxed smile.
"You think this world is rotting?" I asked, spreading my arms wide. "No, Bozo. This world is just waiting for an order."
I tapped into the Hive Mind.
I pushed my will out across the entire dimension.
'Wake up.'
The ground began to shake.
From the dark woods surrounding my house, thousands of glowing red eyes appeared in the fog.
SCREEECH.
A horde of a thousand Demodogs stepped out of the shadows, snarling and drooling. They didn't attack. They formed a massive circle around us, bowing their creepy flower-heads toward me.
Then, the ground cracked open.
A massive, fifty-foot emerald snake slithered up from the earth.
The Basilisk.
She coiled around my house, rearing her giant head up and hissing viciously at the Yellow King.
The vampires backed up into a tight circle, completely surrounded by an army of monsters.
I drew my Void Blade.
It ignited with blinding white Aether, lighting up the dark dimension like a beacon.
"You're in my house now, Hastur," I smirked, pointing my glowing sword at the cosmic god. "And around here? I'm the one who knocks."
