Chapter 330 - Chapter 330: The War for Earth Begins

Seeing that one couple was moving too slowly, Clark kindly reminded them, "Get back inside quickly. It isn't safe out here."

Harry, who was observing Clark's situation through observation runes, felt rather speechless. It was not safe outside, but was it safe inside?

For a Superman like Clark, with a body of steel, what difference was there between a solid wall and a sheet of foam? With one light touch, he could shatter it, then crush the people inside like ketchup in a sandwich.

Still, that did not mean houses were useless.

A house could still provide some protection. It simply did not protect the body, but the mind.

At least they were not as afraid anymore, right?

At the same time, countless helicopters and military forces were approaching Clark's location.

This time, their target was not Clark, but the Kryptonians fighting him.

Perhaps because they did not understand what they were truly facing, their courage was commendable.

Or perhaps even if they did know, they would still bravely charge forward without fear of sacrifice.

But no matter what, the gap between them and the Kryptonians was too great. They could not inflict any damage on the Kryptonians at all.

Compared to these superhumans, they were nothing but insects.

A helicopter was the first to arrive. It used the machine gun mounted on the aircraft to fire rapidly at the two Kryptonians, showing no concern for Clark, who was not far from them.

Those machine-gun bullets had no effect on the three of them. The hulking Kryptonian merely threw a chunk of concrete with force, and the helicopter was shot down. The pilot inside had no time to escape before being reduced to pulp.

After that, a bomber arrived. It continuously dropped high-yield bombs below.

But even though all three people below could have easily dodged, and Clark moved aside only as a show of respect, the two Kryptonians did not move at all.

Once the bombing ended, the unharmed hulking Kryptonian leaped high into the air, instantly jumping over a hundred yards and landing on the nose of the bomber.

He forcibly tore through the cockpit's reinforced glass with his hands, then grabbed the pilot's head and crushed it directly before throwing the pilot's remains out of the plane.

Without anyone piloting it, the aircraft quickly fell, smashed through the roof of an unlucky house, and exploded in a burst of dazzling flame.

Faora wanted to imitate the hulking Kryptonian and destroy the second bomber, but just as she was about to land on the nose of the aircraft, a figure suddenly slammed into her and pushed her away.

After saving the pilots inside the bomber, Clark carried Faora with him and crashed into a diner.

The two fought continuously, eventually returning to the street. But just as Clark gained a slight upper hand, the hulking Kryptonian suddenly walked over and joined Faora in beating Clark.

Facing the attacks of two Kryptonians at once, Clark was no match for them. He was forced back step by step and beaten badly.

If Kryptonians did not possess accelerated regeneration, Clark would probably have already been bruised and swollen by now.

After sending Clark flying again with a kick, the hulking Kryptonian suddenly leaped up, intending to slam a fist down on Clark's head. But at that moment, a palm suddenly appeared and stopped the fist that contained such enormous power.

Although Harry had saved him, Clark did not look happy at all. He said anxiously, "Harry, why are you here? Go back. My mother needs someone to protect her."

Harry shook his head and rejected Clark's suggestion. "No, I won't go back. After all, one mother insisted on begging me to come help her dear son."

Clark fell silent, but very soon, a faint smile appeared on his face.

"Thank you, Harry. You've helped me too much. Now let's fight together."

Clark did not hesitate and charged toward the hulking Kryptonian.

Just moments ago, Clark had been punched several times by that hulking Kryptonian. Although he was not a petty person who repaid every grievance, at this moment, he did want revenge.

So Clark vanished instantly from where he stood and appeared in front of the hulking Kryptonian, punching him in the face and sending him flying.

After Clark and the hulking Kryptonian left, only Harry and Faora remained at the scene.

Faora's face was full of caution. After her first clash with Harry earlier, she had already confirmed that Harry was a human with immense power. She was very likely no match for him.

Harry had no intention of attacking immediately either. He looked at Faora with a smile and said calmly, "Could you stand there and not move? That would make things easier for me. I think it would be more appropriate for Clark to deal with you."

To be honest, if Faora had not been a qualified warrior, she very likely would have agreed to Harry's proposal.

After all, the pressure Harry brought her was simply too strong. Facing Harry gave her the feeling of facing General Zod. No, he might even be more terrifying than General Zod.

But she was a qualified warrior. She was General Zod's adjutant. She was one of the last survivors of Kryptonian civilization. Reality did not allow her to be cowardly.

So Faora took a deep breath, roared, and rushed toward Harry at high speed.

Because she knew the gap between herself and Harry, Faora used her full strength right away.

But the moment she charged in front of Harry, a palm suddenly enlarged in her vision without warning.

There was a loud slap, and Faora's entire body abruptly froze before crashing toward the ground.

Just now, Harry had slapped this powerful female warrior into the ground with a single palm.

Faora was now sunken into the hard concrete pavement. She struggled to get up, spat out the blood in her mouth, and tried to stand.

Because of the Kryptonians' powerful recovery ability, after healing for several seconds, she did indeed succeed. She stood back up and continued swinging her fist at Harry.

Harry shook his head and slapped out again.

An even louder boom than before rang out, and Faora was embedded into the concrete ground once more.

And because Harry used more force this time than last time, Faora smashed a huge pit ten yards across into the concrete.

This attack caused almost every bone in Faora's body to burst apart.

But as a powerful, battle-hardened warrior, her will had long since become as hard as iron. So she endured the agony, slowly rose from the ground, and once again dragged her battered body forward, wanting to attack Harry.

Harry still had no intention of holding back. His palm seemed to swing out slowly, but for some reason, it gave Faora a crushing sense of pressure.

Because that palm moved slowly, yet it seemed to possess the weight of a mountain.

Rumble!

When Harry's palm landed on the top of Faora's head, her entire body instantly vanished from in front of him, completely smashed dozens, perhaps even hundreds of yards into the earth.

Harry briefly observed her with observation runes and discovered that Faora's consciousness had already fallen completely unconscious.

After confirming that this troublesome female warrior had been dealt with, Harry shook his head. "Why bother?"

On the other side, the battle between Clark and the hulking Kryptonian was still continuing.

The two moved rapidly along the road. Cars exploded like cardboard boxes beneath the hulking Kryptonian's massive fists. Shards of metal flew past Clark's cheek and pierced a helicopter in the distance, directly impaling the pilot's head.

"Kal-El," the hulking man's voice sounded like two steel plates grinding together. He grabbed a nearby tanker truck as if it were a tin can. "General Zod will tear your family apart, just like I tear apart this scrap metal."

When the tanker truck came whistling toward him, Clark dodged sideways. The metal tank slammed into a pile of cargo containers, and fuel gushed out.

Immediately afterward, the hulking Kryptonian charged out of the flames, trying to punch Clark in the cheek, but Clark dodged in time.

In the earlier battle, two Kryptonian warriors working together had been enough to suppress Clark. But with only the hulking Kryptonian left, he was not Clark's match.

Clark reached out and grabbed his opponent's incoming wrist, then drove his knee into the hulking Kryptonian's chest.

A series of explosive impacts rang out. The hulking Kryptonian's ribs caved in, and most of the bones in his chest fractured.

At this point, the hulking Kryptonian was subdued by Clark and would have no strength to resist for a short time.

After subduing the hulking Kryptonian, Clark grabbed him by the neck and flew back to Harry's side.

He looked down at the ground and saw Faora embedded in the rock below, completely unable to resist. The smile on his face became even more obvious.

"Harry, you're amazing. We won."

"That's right, Clark. We did win, temporarily." Harry was not as optimistic as Clark.

Clark nodded and said firmly, "I know, Harry. I know. Let's go back to my house first. After we rest and regroup, we'll head into outer space and destroy Zod's ship so they lose the tool they need to terraform Earth.

"After that, as long as the two of us work together, we can definitely defeat the Kryptonians and win the final victory."

A continuous rumble sounded from the distance.

Both Clark and Harry possessed long-range observation methods.

The two looked toward the source of the rumbling and saw an enormous device sitting above Metropolis, firing a high-energy beam down at the surface.

On the opposite side of Earth from Metropolis, another device was firing a high-energy beam deep into the planet.

Once the two high-energy beams interacted with Earth's core, they would transform Earth's gravity and atmosphere, turning it into a planet similar to Krypton.

Clark immediately gave up the idea of going home. He said anxiously to Harry, "Harry, they're terraforming Earth's environment. We have to act as soon as possible and stop them.

"You go to Metropolis, since it's closest, and I'll go to the ocean on the opposite side of Metropolis. Right now, only we can save Earth."

Just as Clark was about to take off toward the ocean on the opposite side of Metropolis, he suddenly discovered Lois in Metropolis through his x-ray vision.

His whole body immediately froze. Then he changed his mind and said to Harry again, "Sorry, Harry. I may need to change the plan. You go to the ocean on the opposite side of Metropolis, and I'll go to Metropolis. After all, you know I have quite a few friends working there."

Harry had no objections to stopping either device anywhere on the planet. After all, to him, distance was never a meaningful measurement.

Once Clark confirmed their plan and did not change his mind again, Harry stepped forward under Clark's surprised gaze. His entire body vanished amid ripples, appearing directly above the ocean opposite Metropolis.

It should have been some kind of spatial teleportation method. After his brief surprise, Clark stopped paying attention to Harry. He believed Harry should be able to resolve things on that side easily.

As for him, he broke through several times the speed of sound in an instant and headed for Metropolis, preparing to work with the military to destroy the Kryptonian device hovering above the city.

The closer one got to the beam where the Kryptonian device was located, the stronger the surrounding gravity became.

As time passed, the gravity around the beam increased by dozens of times.

Skyscrapers hundreds of yards tall were instantly crushed by the immense force. Glass curtain walls and steel beams snapped one after another, twisting together into tangled scrap metal before collapsing onto cars that had already been flattened into steel pancakes.

The gravity field spread outward with the device as its center. In the park, entire sheets of grass were lifted from the lawn. The exposed earth churned like boiling oatmeal, rolling and surging toward the sky.

The entrance to the subway station collapsed into a funnel shape. The train underground was yanked off the tracks by an immense force, its cars torn into several sections as they rose. Shards of steel mixed with the screams of passengers were thrown toward the clouds.

The most horrifying sight was the crowd. Their bodies distorted under the warped gravity. Some were stretched into long, thin shadows, while others were crumpled like wrinkled paper, pulled toward the white beam amid desperate screams, finally vanishing into the darkness at the core of the light.

The military reacted quickly. Only a few minutes later, squadrons of fighter jets dove out from behind the clouds.

They quickly locked onto the Kryptonian device. The missiles they launched trailed white smoke as they rushed toward the target, only to suddenly freeze a hundred yards away from the beam.

The gravity field surrounding the Kryptonian device was like an invisible wall, suspending the missiles in midair. Under the immense pressure, their bodies began to crack, and finally, with a muffled boom, they disintegrated. The fragments were likewise pulled toward the device.

The following fighter jets tried to climb and evade, but they were dragged toward the ground by the suddenly intensified gravity field and crashed one after another.

Even if a lucky bomber managed to approach the Kryptonian device without being torn apart by the gravity field, it was intercepted by the Kryptonian fighters that suddenly appeared.

At this moment, Earth had no hope of defeating the Kryptonian ship, even though this ship was only a negligible fraction of Krypton's power.

On the screens in the ground command center, the green dots representing the fighter jets vanished one after another. Everyone sank into deep despair.

But at that moment, a camera suddenly captured a figure rapidly approaching the Kryptonian device.

And that figure was Clark, whom they had initially treated with hostility and later with gratitude.

The moment that figure appeared, hope reignited in all of their hearts.

Clark did not disappoint them. As soon as he appeared, he destroyed a Kryptonian fighter, saving the woman he loved while also saving several soldiers.

At the same time, a portal opened beside Clark. It was Harry, who had spent only a few minutes completely destroying the Kryptonian device on the other side.

The two hovered side by side in the air, facing off against the dozen or so Kryptonian warriors gathered opposite them.

This war, which would decide Earth's fate, was about to begin.
