Chapter 36 - Chapter 38

After several rounds of haggling, Natasha finally gave up. She didn't want to waste any more time. She and Coulson immediately headed for the general's location.

Five minutes was truly too short—there was no time to lose.

"Master, you haven't extracted the general's memories yet. Should I finish extracting them and then capture him—or kill him?" Yuriko asked, watching their departing figures, as if a sudden thought occurred to her.

"Who told you I didn't extract his memories?"

"Didn't you just point at the general's head?" Yuriko looked confused.

"Who told you I need to point at someone's head to extract their memories?"

"Master… you don't need to?"

"Of course not. That's just a preparation step for extracting thoughts and doesn't necessarily mean I have to take memories. The moment I arrived, I had already entered his mind—and got what I wanted."

"I see. I was wondering why Master would kill the general so casually," Yuriko said, visibly relieved. She had thought Lu Yi forgot—but instead, he had done it silently and effortlessly. Her admiration only deepened.

Boom! Boom! Boom…

Suddenly, a thunderous roar echoed in the distance. From the sound, it was clearly a motorcycle—moving at incredible speed.

"Why does it have to be him?" Lu Yi frowned slightly.

Seeing his reaction, Yuriko's curiosity was piqued. Anyone who could make Lu Yi react like that… could not be ordinary.

She turned toward the approaching sound—and froze.

It was indeed a motorcycle, but not a normal one. It was a motorcycle engulfed in flames—and riding it was a skeleton.

Not a hint of flesh—just bones. Each bone was wreathed in fire, but strangely, the flames did not consume it. It had been burning for who knows how long, yet there was no sign of damage. Even the strange, rugged clothing it wore remained untouched by the flames.

Unable to resist, Yuriko studied the eerie figure closely.

Her gaze moved from the flaming motorcycle to the skeleton's clothes—then settled on its eyes.

Two blazing flames burned where eyes should have been. And when she looked into them, she suddenly felt something ignite inside her—a scorching heat—and faint wisps of green smoke began rising from her own body.

Visions surged into her mind—faces of the soldiers she had slain, even those she barely remembered. They appeared before her—smiling grotesquely, distorted, reaching out with claw-like hands, trying to tear her apart.

"Ahhh!"

Yuriko felt an inexplicable terror. Tears streamed down her face as she cried uncontrollably.

"Don't look into its eyes!"

Just then, a large hand grabbed her head and turned it away. Instead of the flaming skeletal gaze, she was now facing the corpses on the ground.

They were unsettling—but nowhere near as terrifying as what she saw in those eyes. The haunting visions vanished—but the burning sensation remained.

"Master… what was that? Why did I react like that?" Yuriko asked, still trembling.

"You looked directly into the Ghost Rider's eyes."

In the Marvel Universe, there is a special kind of existence—Ghost Riders.

They are cursed beings—tricked or fallen, who made pacts with the Devil for a purpose, and were transformed by the hellfire that burns the soul.

They are the Devil's agents—handling matters even demons cannot.

Because hellfire has a unique nature—it can burn the sins of the soul—Ghost Riders possess the power of judgment.Anyone they deem sinful, once they look into their eyes, will be judged—burned from within, all the way to the soul, until it is utterly destroyed.

Yuriko had been judged because she was deemed guilty—and thus, she experienced hellfire's punishment, even though she survived.

If Lu Yi hadn't intervened in time, Yuriko would have likely died—because Ghost Rider's true target was not her.

"You are guilty!" Ghost Rider's hoarse, echoing voice came—staring at Lu Yi.

And indeed—his real target was Lu Yi.

Only those steeped in sin can attract Ghost Rider.

Lu Yi had just massacred thousands.According to Ghost Rider's standards, he was extremely sinful—and that is why Ghost Rider appeared.

After all—this was his territory.

I don't know exactly why, but almost every superhero seems to have their own domain of activity. And even a barely qualified one, like Ghost Rider—has his.

New Mexico.He has arrived.
