Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Yin and Yang

"How soon can we begin?"

Despite what he said, John wasn't in much of a hurry. He wanted to explore everything about his dream so he could go back and write a book about it. What kind of book? Well, that was the ultimate question.

Maybe if he had some kind of comment section full of readers, he would know.

{Note: We can begin now. The moons' personalities will be randomized unless you wish to take over yourself.}

John thought about it for a minute. He wanted to defy the system as much as he could, but this time it was giving him two options. Clearly it wanted to push him into a choice. As expected of his imagination.

He continued thinking until something obvious hit him.

"How many moons do I have? And will this hurt?"

Even he couldn't believe he'd forgotten to ask that.

{You have 112 moons, but you only have enough yin energy to create 31 sentient moons. As for pain—yes, it will hurt a lot. However, most of the contaminated yin energy has also been further contaminated by foreign yang energy. The system will use that yang energy to heal you.}

{Remark: You might even become manlier?}

"Manlier? What does that mean? I know yin energy represents women, so does that mean I'll be absorbing the yang energy of other men??? That sounds a little…"

He shivered.

'Ugh, I should've stayed a virgin.'

"Gross as that sounds, I guess I should do it. Having loyal servants—moons—sounds like a good idea, and I don't trust this thing yet."

As soon as he said that, another screen appeared in front of him. This one looked like a full character creation kit. It had everything.

"Um, system? Why can I adjust body parts and clothes? And why are they all female?"

The system really was offering way too many details. It reminded him of that cyberware game—except here he could design the personality and the private parts.

{Host must understand that your servants will only be able to project themselves within a certain radius of their true bodies. They can only visit you or each other for now. As for why they are all female, that is because you will be using yin energy to make them… unless, of course, you want to heal yourself with yin energy. That would make you more feminine, however.}

John tried imagining that. He didn't know how that would work. A dream couldn't affect his personality—obviously—but at the same time… being around 31 obscenely loyal women he could literally design?

"Wait… does this count as grooming?"

'Best not to think about it.'

He returned to the creation kit.

After scrolling through all the options, he noticed a search bar at the top. Curious, he clicked it. Underneath the search bar were icons for more… exotic choices.

"ALIENS!"

Female aliens—some oddly familiar, like dwarves, elves, and beastmen. The beastwoman option even let him change her subrace at any moment.

He immediately chose all three before looking at the stranger options.

One was a giant insect-looking creature. When he asked about it, [God's Eye] provided details. Apparently they were known for birthing galaxy-devouring pests.

Very cool.

'I'm not that interested in anything too alien, though. I've always been an advocate for human supremacy. Although… maybe I should extend that belief to humanoid races as well.'

With that thought, he typed in the names of every humanoid race he could think of.

"This might even help me create some great lore."

Of course, that was all John cared about—entertainment.

"Every saga needs backstories. Maria was born from the first universe listed in her race bio. She met me about a billion years ago, we married in secret in another dimension, she's loving, compassionate, loyal… and done. Wait—what?"

He looked at the status window and noticed something called Personality Points, which had just dropped the moment he added Maria to the cart.

{Personality Points differ from physical traits. If you want your future subordinates to be loyal, you must spend wisely.}

{Note: All personality types are taken from the yin energies attached to you, measured and simplified for your understanding.}

John scratched his head and examined Maria's screen. Some categories listed things like compassion 0/10 or hotheaded 0/10.

'I didn't realize I had a limited number.'

Even worse, all these points came from the women John had slept with—and that group was definitely larger than 31.

"Why can't I have more points?"

{Host, more points means fewer sentient moons.}

That actually made a lot of sense.

If John created 112 sentient moons, they would almost certainly be emotionally void—or worse, disloyal.

That might be fine for a normal girlfriend or a real person, but a sentient moon that revolves around him 24/7 developing rebellious thoughts?

Never.

He went back to Maria's settings and adjusted her traits—nothing too crazy. Just removing traits that didn't match her personality or her future "laws" (whatever those were).

She didn't need curiosity, anger, contempt, or any negative emotions. As an archangel, she was above that.

Her honesty needed to be a bit lower, too.

Finally, he assigned her to a moon with a high concentration of white marble.

The moon looked incredibly white.

"This kinda makes sense…"

Next, he moved on to Sofia the archdemon. She also had 10/10 obsession points.

"Who obsessed over me that much…? Oh yeah, how could I forget her? The one who shall not be named. Pretty sure she broke into my house and stole my dirty socks. No doubt that when I wake up, she'll try to ask for child support. Crazy bitch."

That "chick" was a stalker who refused to leave him alone—but she wasn't the only one. John had a strong tendency to date women who were bold and absolutely unhinged.

Most of them seemed straight out of a mental ward.

Some probably were.

"There was also that chick who put cement powder in my gas tank because she thought I was cheating… No wonder I have so many obsession points…"

Moving on.

"Sofia will be the hot and spicy one… Big or flat…? Ahem. Does it matter?"

He set Sofia to 7/10 hot-tempered and 8/10 revenge-driven.

Next came Elizabeth.

'There are races I've never even heard of. Apparently celestials are immune to the corrosive power of divine energy and the personality changes caused by deity cultivation. That sounds wicked! I want one.'

'These aren't real bodies yet, but according to the system, it's probably temporary. We'll likely gain real bodies sooner or later. If so, I need to make sure they're perfect.'

Elizabeth was made to be arrogant, prideful, and, of course, obsessively loyal to John.

With big boobs.

Author's Note

Hello! It's me, the author.

I hope you're all enjoying the story. I've been reading and writing long enough to know what people usually want. Let me tell you—I still don't know if I want to take the harem direction. I've always been on the fence about it, mostly because I like realistic scenarios, and sadly, harems (even reverse harems) do exist.

But honestly? Most are written terribly. Too many women who disappear after being introduced, and the MC is almost always a massive d-bag.

I mentioned the MC hates hedonism—and I do too—but I still wanted to make a character who feels a bit more human. So I've decided: if people do want harems, then I'm going all in with pure negligence.

In other words, screw these chicks. There are 31 women. That's 31 backstories, 31 romantic arcs, 31 headaches to write—and even worse, 31 headaches to read.

So I made it so they have no backstory or deep emotional bond. I made them artificial because all these "women" are just tools, and that's all they ever will be.

Either trophy wives or props John uses to build self-made lore and make enemies jealous.

And with that out of the way, I hope you all enjoy the story and drop a few comments.
