Chapter 2 - A brutal awakening

*Ten years earlier*

*The World of Mortals, Empire of Alexandria*

Kaiser D. Paragon's POV

"... What the hell is wrong with my head?!"

Lying in a luxurious bed, worthy of the finest suites in a five-star hotel, I struggled to keep my eyelids open as a flood of information poured incessantly into my head.

Names… faces… memories that were not mine but that nevertheless left a disturbing sense of familiarity.

"What the hell kind of alcohol did those bastards give me to get me in such a state!" I exclaimed, cursing my friends.

Amidst the growing chaos in my head, somehow, I was almost certain… before this inexplicable pain, I was partying with my few friends… yes, after those damn exams that had lasted forever, we were finally on vacation. How could we not celebrate that?

"What a hit!"

I massaged my temple, desperately searching for a way to calm the pain that was pounding in my skull, but nothing worked.

About ten minutes had quickly passed as the pain gradually subsided, allowing me to open my eyes.

"Damn!"

The words came out on their own, as my eyes fell on the golden patterns of this unknown ceiling. Now that I was more or less lucid, I could perceive the mess I was in.

The room was so spacious that it could be compared to a mini tennis court, furnished with various elements made of precious wood. The curtains covering the five large windows of the room were also not normal… everything in this room breathed luxury and opulence. There was also this bed, this king-size bed, so soft, a slight scent even emanated from the mattress…

I didn't know where I had landed, or how I had gotten there, but one thing was certain, it could only have been done illegally… unless I had robbed a bank, neither I nor my friends had the means to afford such a room. And the fact that I was alone in the room didn't help the situation at all.

"Every time… every time I'm with those lunatics, something stupid happens to me." As I continued to curse them, I got up, looking for a way out to get out of this place and possibly find them. They couldn't be too far away anyway.

But, as they say, misfortune never comes alone. As I walked towards the door, it opened, revealing an unknown but strangely familiar silhouette.

'Damn… I'm screwed!' This thought quickly crossed my mind as I thought about the words I was going to use to get myself out of this mess.

Besides, I think breaking into someone else's house could guarantee a stay in custody and maybe even worse, given this room. Only a fool would not conclude that the domain must belong to a powerful man. But the words spoken by this person left me speechless.

"Oh… young master, you're awake," said the young girl, visibly surprised. She bowed respectfully, recalling the principles of nobility. It wasn't just her behavior that referred to that era, her clothes also looked terribly like those of that time.

The scene was so unreal that I forgot to answer. Was this servant blind? And what was this way of calling me… young master. Did she think she was in a novel or something?

"Young master, you don't feel well… I can call the doctor," she continued, noticing the lack of response from her interlocutor.

"Hmm… I'm fine, you can leave that here and go" I replied nonchalantly, playing the role perfectly. If she took me for her master or some other bullshit, that was good, I could get out of here more easily.

Upon hearing my words, she instantly obeyed, leaving the room. I simply watched her gently close the door, moving away down the hallway. Honestly, I didn't know what to think of this girl. Was she stupid enough not to recognize her master? Nevertheless, she was really very beautiful. Her black hair and brown eyes matched perfectly with her black servant outfit, which itself hugged every curve of her body.

"Pfff… women will continue to cause our downfall, it's a sad truth…" I sighed, determined to resume my search, but I wasn't done with my surprises. As I passed by one of those long mirrors that allowed me to easily see my entire body, my heart skipped a beat as I saw my reflection.

"Who is that… what is… why… why my hair… what the hell is this" Unable to pronounce my sentence correctly, my heart was beating wildly, sweat quickly formed on my forehead as I trembled, then suddenly my feet gave way, leaving me to crash to the ground with a deafening noise.

It took me about ten minutes to completely calm down. What I was experiencing no longer made any sense. In the end, the servant was right to have reacted normally. It seemed that the idiot in the story was none other than me. I thought about the possibility that alcohol had made me break into someone else's house, but what alcohol could change someone's body? The possibility of a dream was not conceivable. The pain was too real, and I had hit myself several times and hadn't woken up.

"Silver mid-length hair, blue eyes… and this body… younger, good physical condition…" I looked at myself intently, trying to unravel this mystery while unconsciously running my hand through my hair. As I searched for an answer, a name emerged from my thoughts: "Kaiser… Kaiser D. Paragon."

The more I progressed in my reasoning, the more I doubted my mental condition… Why did I feel convinced that I was Kaiser D. Paragon? A character from a crappy novel I read to pass the time. But the craziest thing was that the description of my current body matched the character perfectly.

Was this… a reincarnation?

"Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah"

The very idea of reincarnation made me laugh, a hysterical laugh for no reason. After all, what was so funny? I found myself in the body of a character from a novel, and on top of that, one of a pariah close to an antagonist destined to die to serve as a springboard for the hero…

The answer was absolutely nothing, but strangely I began to gradually accept my reality by putting the pieces of the puzzle together, and it terrified me.

"So I reincarnated into Heavenly Milf?" I said, letting out a sigh as I stared at the ceiling. "What god have I offended? I'm not even the fucking protagonist of this damn story… just a lousy extra. And where the hell is my system? Why hasn't it manifested itself yet? It's common in novels for guys who reincarnate to have one, so where is it?!"

After venting my anger in this empty room, tears flowed down my pale cheeks. I suddenly began to think about my family… How would they react to my disappearance while their beloved son was stuck in this damn imaginary world…

*Knock knock*

Lost in my dark thoughts, I hadn't even realized that someone was knocking on the door. It was only after the person insisted that I got up from the floor.

"Who is it? Come in…"
