Chapter 3 - 3. Proficiency Panel

As the saying goes, 'sharpening a spear on the eve of battle, though it may not be fast, it will still gleam!'

Under the astonished gaze of the female clerk, Wen Lin, on the small open ground, earnestly practiced the basic martial art, Raging Bull Fist, which he had been training since childhood.

He went through it from beginning to end.

He practiced much slower than he remembered, only breaking a slight sweat. After finishing, he checked the time.

Exactly fifteen minutes.

Just right, the coffee was already prepared.

The female clerk even offered a small plate of Tiramisu.

"Thank you!"

Wen Lin thanked her warmly, pulled out a tissue to wipe the slight sweat from his forehead and neck, then sat down in a chair by the window and closed his eyes in deep thought.

His movements were a bit quick.

"Please enjoy!"

The female clerk, who had intended to say something, could only smile helplessly.

Although she was quite curious.

But the young man, gentle yet clearly not wanting to be disturbed, left her no choice but to put away her curiosity and return to the counter to continue practicing making pastries.

She had initially thought the young man was trying to attract her attention.

She had even planned to take the initiative and strike up a conversation.

Wen Lin paid no attention to the female clerk's attitude. He closed his eyes, a large part of it to conceal the wild joy in his heart.

Of course, another part was to study his Golden Finger.

Although it seemed he could do it without closing his eyes.

But by closing his eyes...

He could focus even more!

There was no 'ding' sound.

No mechanical sound.

Without any warning or movement, in short, after he finished practicing the entire set of Raging Bull Fist, a transparent panel appeared in his vision.

[Raging Bull Fist (Proficient): 37 / 200]

Simple and straightforward.

Apart from this line of text and numbers, there was nothing else.

Wen Lin tried to issue a command with his mind.

No result!

He tried calling out 'System' softly.

No response!

After fiddling for a while, he opened his eyes and took a sip of the cold coffee, his heated brain calming down.

So, besides an extra panel, there was nothing else?

What about adding points?

He didn't see any!

Perhaps it was an incomplete Golden Finger.

Perhaps... it was truly just a proficiency display bar.

"I really am not the protagonist..."

Wen Lin muttered softly to himself.

He had been in a commotion since waking up that morning and realizing his Transmigration, so much so that he hadn't eaten breakfast. Now he felt very hungry, and the Tiramisu in front of him was incredibly tempting.

He swallowed the tiny Tiramisu in two bites.

He didn't taste it.

He simply ordered some freshly baked pastries and bread at the coffee shop to fill his stomach.

It wasn't that Wen Lin didn't want to eat a proper meal.

It was because the food street was in the back alley; to get there, he either had to cut through a small alley or go around an entire street, which would take at least ten minutes.

And the coffee shop here was closest to the entrance of the office.

Sitting inside, he could see people coming and going through the office entrance.

Waiting for someone here was most suitable.

As for continuing to practice his fist art?

Practicing the Raging Bull Fist consumes a lot of physical strength.

Moreover, it wasn't very convenient to keep practicing here.

He couldn't be covered in sweat when he had business to attend to later.

Now, he could only wait here for two close Uncles, who had always looked after him, to arrive and go together to handle the inheritance of his parents' Legacy.

"The trouble might be related to this..."

Being targeted usually stems from either emotional entanglements or conflicts of interest.

The Self had been single since birth.

Martial Arts Middle School is a school primarily focused on martial arts training.

The Martial Apprentice Stage mainly focuses on training strength and physique. Even if the current basic fist techniques for strength training have been refined over generations, one cannot become strong without a robust physique.

Therefore, most of the girls at the school... are strong and robust... unless they have a Family Legacy and abundant resources, allowing them to choose basic martial arts that don't heavily emphasize strength training from the start, with their strength growth relying on resources.

Such girls exist.

They are generally in the First Martial Arts Middle School.

"I don't know any girls from the First Martial Arts Middle School..." Wen Lin shook his head, then seriously recalled again, confirming that he had no emotional entanglements with anyone.

So, excluding emotional troubles...

There was only... his parents' Legacy, which he could only inherit after turning 18.

"Is this amount of money very large?"

Wen Lin's parents passed away when he was ten years old.

In fact, even before their passing, he had spent little time with his parents; they were too busy, and he had always been fostered with various Uncles.

The Self was used to it and felt nothing strange.

Wen Lin, however, was quite puzzled.

Did his parents have some special status?

But in all these years, he hadn't received any special treatment; he had simply gone to school steadily, as he wished.

Or, was the trouble related to his parents?

But for so many years, everything had been peaceful, and no one had caused trouble. Now, after he turned 18, trouble arose.

The only two things related to turning 18 were the Legacy and the Awakened Divine Ability.

Wen Lin's fingers tapped lightly on the table, deep in thought.

The coffee shop had gradually filled with other people. Aside from the occasional glance, no one disturbed him, a lone sitter.

Legacy and Divine Ability... Wen Lin had many conjectures.

However, with insufficient information, he couldn't make a definitive judgment.

Thinking of Ye Huang's reminder at school, Wen Lin was about to send a message to ask Ye Huang when he saw Ye Huang walk into the Martial Arts Office building alone.

Was it because of his matter?

Or... after all, the Martial Arts Office actually had little to do with Martial Apprentices.

Unless... he had advanced to a Martial Artist.

The Martial Arts Offices in various places are responsible for all matters concerning registration, certification, cultivation subsidies, resource exchange, Legacy inheritance, and other issues for Martial Artists and higher-level martial cultivators.

Was he going to register his Awakened Divine Ability?

"But a Divine Ability cannot be detected before the Martial Warrior level..."

Wen Lin's fingers paused slightly.

Compared to Ye Huang, a classmate he wasn't particularly familiar with, he naturally felt that the Uncles who had watched him grow up were more trustworthy.

As for the possibility of his Uncles wanting to seize his parents' Legacy...

He had considered it.

The possibility was small.

After all, the previous Wen Lin had no guard against these Uncles.

It would have been incredibly easy for them to harm him!

At least before he was fifteen, even when he boarded at middle school, he would still take turns visiting his Uncles' homes each week to eat and stay for a day or half a day.

And these Uncles all had quite good Family conditions.

Basically, they were all Martial Artists.

It was only in recent years, as his Uncles each started their own families and had children, that he tried his best not to disturb their small families.

As for the daughters of his Uncles, the possibility of childhood sweethearts?

Cough, the oldest one was only ten... He wasn't that deranged!

"Moreover, sending some small-time hooligans to cause me trouble, I always feel that kind of thing is a bit childish? Crude? Not quite like something an adult with a mature mindset would do..."

If it were him, wanting to gain something from an orphan...

How would he do it?

Scare him a bit?

Too petty!

Of course... if you're going to target someone, you strike at what they care about most!

"Ding ding dong dong~~"

The sound of flowing spring water music came from his mobile phone. He instinctively pressed to answer immediately, not allowing the sound to echo in the quiet coffee shop.

Not disturbing others was a proper courtesy.

"Xiao Lin, Uncle has an urgent matter and can't make it. I've told your Uncle Cao to go with you!" Uncle Dong's slightly anxious voice came from the mobile phone pressed to his ear.
