Chapter 231 - The Capture

Before the dragon could even think...

Before he could come up with a plan...

He acted purely on instinct.

He raised one of his enormous claws and swung it with all his might toward the place where he had heard the voice.

But...

The attack missed.

It struck nothing but the fading afterimage of Odin and his winged warhorse.

For Odin had already moved.

He now sat calmly upon his winged steed directly above the dragon's back, as though he had been waiting for that very moment from the beginning.

A faint smile appeared on Odin's face.

He raised his spear and said,

"You will make a magnificent trophy..."

"And the perfect material for Asgard."

The moment he finished speaking...

He drove his spear downward toward the dragon's back.

The dragon reacted with astonishing speed, twisting around and blocking the strike with his razor-sharp claws.

Yet...

Although he successfully intercepted the spear...

He was no match for Odin's overwhelming physical strength.

The force of the collision hurled him violently through the sky.

As he was thrown backward...

He suddenly opened his jaws.

Then he unleashed a gigantic fireball, as large as several ships combined, sending it straight toward Odin.

Odin smiled calmly.

"Not bad..."

"Not bad at all."

"But you'll need far more than that..."

"If you want me to fight seriously."

He casually grasped something in his hand.

Then gave it a light wave.

In the next instant...

A colossal gale erupted.

It slammed into the fireball from the side.

Tearing it apart completely.

The flames were wiped from existence...

Before they could even reach Odin.

The dragon's shock deepened.

Disbelief filled his eyes.

But Odin...

Never gave him a chance to recover.

He shot forward with blinding speed.

Within a single second...

He was already standing before the dragon once again.

His winged warhorse cut steadily through the storm-filled sky.

His spear gleamed brilliantly in his hands.

Then he launched a second strike.

This time...

Straight toward the dragon's chest.

The dragon could not react quickly enough.

The spear struck true.

It carved into his chest with terrifying force.

Although the dragon's body was dozens of times larger than Odin's...

The seemingly small wound left by the spear...

Began expanding at an unnatural speed.

Within moments...

It had become a massive gash that tore open a large portion of the dragon's chest.

The dragon released a thunderous scream of agony.

Then he tried to flee at full speed.

At last...

He realized the truth.

He could not match Odin in raw physical strength.

But Odin had no intention of letting him escape.

He calmly raised one hand.

Then uttered a single word.

"Farewell."

The instant those words left his lips...

An enormous rift opened across the heavens, vast enough to rival an entire island.

From within it...

A colossal bolt of lightning descended, no smaller than the rift itself.

It crashed downward at terrifying speed.

And struck the dragon directly.

The dragon never even saw it coming.

He experienced only his final fleeting moments...

Before his consciousness faded into darkness.

Odin watched him silently.

Then a faint smile crossed his face as the dragon's gigantic body fell unconscious, smoke rising from its scorched scales.

Odin raised his hand once more.

The winds answered his command.

They caught the dragon's immense body...

Preventing it from sinking into the depths of the ocean.

Odin burst into laughter.

"Oh..."

"Now we have a roasted dragon!"

"Hahahahaha!"

The moment his laughter echoed across the heavens...

Nature itself responded to his power.

Chaos spread throughout the region.

The enormous rift in the sky disappeared.

But it was replaced by an even more violent storm.

The winds grew fiercer.

Thunder roared louder.

Black clouds thickened overhead.

Torrential rain poured endlessly.

Vast sheets of snow fell from the sky while lightning struck everywhere without pause.

Within moments...

That stretch of the ocean had become a terrifying natural catastrophe.

Every living creature beneath those waters...

Was either struck by the relentless lightning...

Swept away by the raging storms...

Or frozen solid by the merciless cold unleashed by Odin's tempest.

But...

Somewhere nearby...

A small serpent swam silently through the depths of the sea.

It slowly raised its head.

Its eyes turned toward the distant storms.

A mysterious smile spread across its face.

It thought to itself,

"I've found you..."
