The mermaid princess was still thinking about what that mysterious person had said to her.
She wasn't just thinking about the words; she was trying to understand the real reason behind the offer to help her break free.
What would this person gain from freeing her?
And why offer her help so easily?
These questions raced through her mind.
The mermaid princess raised her gaze toward the darkness, trying to see the person who had spoken to her, but she could not.
She wanted to know their appearance, or even their gender, but that was impossible.
Their voice was strange...
A voice from which she couldn't determine whether it was a man or a woman.
On top of that, the person was standing in the darkness, away from the light, so she couldn't see their features at all.
She narrowed her eyes, trying to focus.
Then she began to use her mind, analyzing the situation from all angles.
If this person truly wanted to help her, why?
And if they wanted to trick her...
What were they planning?
She was trying to reach an answer, while the mysterious stranger remained standing in the dark, watching her in silence.
But in reality...
The stranger could barely keep from laughing.
Inwardly, they were laughing hard.
"Hahahaha..."
The situation was indescribably funny to them.
They thought to themselves:
"That captive is truly entertaining."
They kept watching her as she thought seriously, as if she were trying to figure out a way to escape this place.
Then they continued to themselves, laughing:
"She thinks she can escape, as if someone would rescue her that easily?"
Laughter welled up inside him once more.
"Hahahaha!"
The scene was utterly amusing to him.
Then he pondered for a moment...
And suddenly, he understood something he hadn't realized before.
"Now I get why Nott loved pulling pranks on others and playing with them."
He smiled in the darkness.
"This really is hilarious."
He tried hard to hold back from laughing out loud right in front of the princess.
Then he thought to himself:
"Nott must have been laughing so hard when he teased my sister Jord, just like I am now."
He paused for a second, then chuckled again.
"What a lucky guy... haha."
The mysterious figure playing with the mermaid princess was Eir, the Ruler of Healing.
Eir had been teasing the princess from the very beginning, greatly enjoying the sight of her trying to comprehend what was happening around her.
As for the mermaid princess...
She knew nothing about the identity of the figure standing before her.
All she knew was that she faced a mysterious individual who had suddenly appeared and offered to help her escape.
Her mind was still searching for a logical explanation for everything taking place.
She was frowning deeply, contemplating in all seriousness the possibility of escaping the cell.
And just as she was submerged in her thoughts...
Eir finally moved.
She slowly stepped out of the shadows, appearing right before the mermaid princess.
She looked at her with a mischievous smile.
And said:
"Hahaha... You really are entertaining, captive."
The princess quickly raised her head.
While Eir...
Continued with her mocking smile:
"Do you truly believe you can escape from here?"
She paused for a moment, then added:
"And also... do you really think anyone would help you just like that, so easily?"
Silence settled for a few moments after Eir said that, and a quiet stillness blanketed the place.
