Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: What The Hell Did That Damn Levi Do?

Honkai disease cured, and having passively achieved financial freedom through the company, Levi could finally do the things he wanted to do.

For example, right now, standing at the highest point of Exalting Sanctum, facing the sea, doing exercise routines.

Of course, the main thing was still observing Exalting Sanctum's layout and finding a suitable location to open his own office.

Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at the item that had dropped from Kiana.

[Valkyrie Armor: White Comet]

[Description: Standard-issue Valkyrie armor. After equipping it, it deals increased damage to "biological" targets.]

"No wonder it's that 'the less you wear, the higher the defense; the more bold you dress, the higher the attack' kind of anime!"

Looking at the armor in front of him that looked like lingerie.

For the sake of the little bit of integrity he had left, Levi secretly swore that even if he died, he would never wear it.

Then he thought of Bronya, whom he had justly "dealt with."

"Not sure if she'll be able to find the way out I left her."

As long as she simply filed an appeal with the authorities, all those lost accounts and data could be recovered.

Levi looked at the sun in the distance. "With her intelligence, she should be able to figure it out…"

"Hey, student up there, don't do anything drastic…"

"? What kind of nonsense is this?"

Suddenly hearing someone shouting, Levi looked down in confusion.

He discovered that the area below was packed with onlookers, with a large group of Cloud Knights maintaining order nearby to prevent a stampede.

Among them was a Cloud Knight holding a megaphone, constantly shouting upward, at Levi.

"Life's frustrations take up eight or nine out of ten things. As long as you're alive, you'll run into all kinds of hardships. Gambling ruins lives, stay away from the Universe Cup. There's no situation in life you can't get out of. Those past setbacks will only forge a more brilliant you in the future…"

Levi, "..."

'Did I walk into the wrong show?'

'I remember this being the Luofu, not Blue Planet…'

Even the Universe Cup is involved. Could it be that the Xianzhou Alliance teams can't even beat those obscure civilizations in the Universe Cup?

———

"How do you even know about that?!"

At Exalting Sanctum, Qingque stared at the Jade Abacus in front of her in shock.

This kind of humiliating matter is something Xianzhou people rarely mention in front of outsiders.

Even Qingque herself seldom complained about it in front of Levi.

Though part of that was because she didn't pay attention to that stuff, it also showed the general attitude of Xianzhou people.

For outsiders to learn about it, they'd have to live in the Luofu for a long time, slowly understanding things over time.

And they'd have to actively seek out the information themselves, news like that doesn't just fall into your ears.

Qingque frowned deeply and said gravely, [Confess honestly! Besides me, do you have any other friends on the Xianzhou?]

'Why is Qingque starting to go crazy too?'

After finishing breakfast and returning home, Levi scratched his head while looking at the message Qingque sent.

As for friends on the Xianzhou besides Qingque, there was only Bailu left.

"Other than her."

Little Bailu, whose age might not even be greater than hers, what would she know about the Xianzhou Alliance's 'gold content.'

[Qingque: Then that's it.]

[Qingque: So you really don't have any friends?]

Levi, "..."

Levi didn't want to keep arguing with Qingque on this topic and immediately asked her about last night's matter.

[Levi: The thing you promised me, did you mention it to Lady Fu Xuan?]

[Not yet.] Qingque replied while drinking the Immortal's Joy Tea that Levi had funded for her.

[Qingque: It's only been how long? The Divination Commission hasn't even started work yet. There's still one system hour to go.]

'Going now wouldn't that be the same as going in early?'

'As a qualified worker, you can't leave early!'

'And likewise, you absolutely can't arrive early either!'

'Otherwise, wouldn't you become what people call a try-hard workaholic?'

'You've got to clock in exactly on time and clock out exactly on time, that's the correct way.'

After all, going in early won't get her a raise from Fu Xuan.

Leaving late counts as overtime. Though it pays, Qingque feels it's not worth it.

She'd rather go out for late-night snacks with Levi.

Yeah, he's paying.

In one night, she could eat back the equivalent of two nights' worth of overtime pay.

Speaking of which, Qingque couldn't help but lament Levi's…

[Qingque: Damn rich bastard!]

Why doesn't that heaven-sent fortune ever fall into her own pocket?

[Like you didn't benefit from it.] Levi curled his lip.

He strongly condemned Qingque's behavior of eating while cursing.

[Levi: Enough of that. You should hurry to the Divination Commission and explain things to Lady Fu Xuan.]

[Qingque: So urgent? You're not about to cause some big scandal, are you?]

Facing Levi's urging, Qingque thought of her divination results from that morning.

'Great misfortune!'

Just thinking of those two words made Qingque shudder.

She had a strong feeling this 'great misfortune' had something to do with Levi.

'Could it be that this guy really caused some huge incident at the Divination Commission, and now he's just waiting for me to walk into it and take the punishment for him?'

Qingque stroked her chin and guessed.

Based on her understanding of Levi, this was totally something he could do.

To prevent being caught off guard, Qingque decided to properly ask Levi exactly what he had done.

So she could be mentally prepared.

Looking at the chat interface that had been quiet for a long time, Qingque muttered, "You're playing dead on me, huh?"

'Think you can outplay me by playing dead?'

'Watch how I make you fake your own resurrection!'

"Qingque…"

"Ah!"

Startled by the sudden voice, the Jade Abacus slipped from her hand. Fortunately, Qingque reacted quickly and grabbed it before it hit the ground.

Looking at the intact Jade Abacus, Qingque patted her flat chest.

"Thank goodness, thank goodness. If this had fallen and broken, I'd have had to think of another way to go cry to Levi again."

Fu Xuan was carrying her breakfast, an ordinary bowl of noodles and a cup of Immortal's Joy Tea.

Seeing Qingque get startled by her, Fu Xuan felt a bit speechless.

"Qingque, since when did you become so timid?"

Just calling your name a little and you nearly couldn't hold onto the Jade Abacus.

How come when you sneak off to slack and play cards during work hours, you're never this scared?

Putting the Jade Abacus back into her pocket, Qingque looked at Fu Xuan and awkwardly greeted her with a smile.

"Go-good morning, Lady Fu Xuan."

Whether Levi had faked his death or not, she didn't know, but she really had almost been scared into a jumping corpse just now.

Hearing Qingque's greeting, Fu Xuan's previously relaxed brows suddenly knitted together as she looked at her.

"Today is the first time I've seen you. Why are you feeling guilty?"

"No! No…"

Qingque forced a smile.

Looking at her, Fu Xuan's brows furrowed even deeper.

If there was nothing going on in her head, she wouldn't believe it one bit.

Before Fu Xuan could question her, Qingque spoke first.

"Lady Fu Xuan, why are you here buying breakfast at this hour today?"

She wanted to gloss things over so Fu Xuan wouldn't pursue the 'guilt' issue.

As for helping Levi like she said she would…

When the time came, she could just scribble a note, write a letter in his tone, and slip it into Fu Xuan's drawer. That should about do it.

Qingque looked at her with a 'curious' gaze.

Normally at this time, Fu Xuan would already be at the Divination Commission on standby, starting work.

Fu Xuan quietly looked at her, already 100% certain that Qingque had definitely done something wrong.

She just didn't know what it was yet.

Fu Xuan snorted coldly and said, "Something happened at the Divination Commission today that nearly made me faint with anger. Even my morning meal was spilled because of an accident. Simply rotten luck!"

"The person who did such a thing had better not let me catch them, or else…"

"I will personally send her to the Shackling Prison!"

'Whew~'

Qingque let out a sigh of relief. "As long as it's not the Yaoqing Xianzhou, as long as it's not the Yaoqing Xianzhou…"

"Qingque, what are you muttering about over there?" Fu Xuan asked sharply.

While speaking, she had been staring at Qingque the whole time.

By now, she could already be sure that the intrusion at the Divination Commission absolutely had something to do with her.

Seeing Fu Xuan's sharp gaze, Qingque's heart tightened.

Not giving her a chance to speak, Fu Xuan stepped forward in two or three strides, looking at Qingque with a serious expression.

In a clear "confess and you'll be treated leniently, resist and you'll be punished harshly" manner, she said,

"Confess honestly! Was the matter at the Divination Commission your doing?!"

"W-what matter?"

"And you're still playing dumb here!"

Fu Xuan said with a tone of frustration at her lack of ambition. "If you wanted to get back at me for not letting you slack off, you could have come straight to me. Resorting to such low and disgraceful tactics, what kind of conduct is that!"

"I-I didn't do anything! Lady Fu Xuan!"

This time, Qingque was truly dumbfounded. She didn't even know what crime she had supposedly committed.

'What the hell did Levi do?!'

'Did he steal Fu Xuan's stockings and put them on public display or something?'

Crack!

A strange sound came from nearby. Fu Xuan and Qingque both turned to look.

A man's head suddenly pulled back.
