March 7th watched everything that had just happened in a completely dazed state.
Including everything Mr. Yang had done earlier.
Even if there was an explanation for it, unleashing that kind of visibly overwhelming attack in a place like a hospital ward... Getting arrested was only natural.
Fortunately, neither she nor Stelle had been taken in as accomplices.
They could still think of a way to capture Kafka. Once they caught her, they could probably use her to get Mr. Yang out of prison.
"Hey!"
Levi turned his head toward March 7th. Suddenly, he felt his shoulder sink as she hooked an arm around his neck and stared at him with a stern face.
"Mr. Yang only acted like that because he saw you attacking Stelle."
And, more or less, Levi had personally sent him in there.
Without Mr. Yang around, just the two of them alone, not to mention whether they could even find Kafka...
Even if they did find her, there was no guarantee they could beat her.
So...
"You have to take responsibility!"
She shouted it so loudly that people outside the ward could hear it.
Stelle muttered to herself, "If I recorded that sentence, could I use it as leverage to blackmail him later?"
Unfortunately, March 7th had already finished speaking.
A wasted opportunity.
Levi sighed. Ever since the Astral Express arrived on the Luofu, it felt like more and more trouble kept finding him.
He pulled her claw-like hand off his neck.
"You two just go look for her. I'll assist from the shadows."
After getting Levi's promise, March 7th visibly relaxed. Before he left, she even asked him to make sure Mr. Yang lived comfortably in prison.
Unfortunately, that wasn't something Levi could do.
How Mr. Yang was treated wasn't up to him. That depended entirely on the Cloud Knights and Fu Xuan's arrangements.
Closing the ward door behind him, Levi noticed movement to his right, but ignored it.
Pretending not to see anything, he turned and walked the other way.
"Hey!"
Herta finally couldn't help calling out to stop him.
Levi paused and turned around, putting on a surprised expression.
"You two still haven't left? It's getting late. Please make sure to get enough rest."
After saying that, he turned to leave again, only for Herta to stop him once more.
"We don't have anywhere to stay on the Luofu yet."
'What the hell does that have to do with me?'
'You want me to recommend a hotel or something?'
"Your superior said that if we needed anything while on the Luofu, we could come to you, so..."
Hearing that, Levi rubbed his chin.
He casually booked two of the Luofu's most luxurious hotels on his jade abacus, setting the stay duration first.
"Thirty days. Max out the experience package."
Looking at the payment screen with seven zeroes on it, Levi paid without hesitation. After escorting Herta and Ruan Mei to the two standalone villas...
He returned to his own little home.
Opening his jade abacus again, he found Fu Xuan in his contacts and sent her the same amount, except with another zero added to the end.
After waiting a long time, no reply came.
Levi guessed Fu Xuan had probably gone straight back to wash up and sleep after escorting Mr. Yang away.
So he decided to wait until tomorrow morning to see her response.
And figure out how he was supposed to get reimbursed.
After washing up...
Levi changed into loose clothes, slipped on a pair of slippers, and leaned back on the sofa with his legs crossed, completely lacking in elegance.
If he had stubble on his face...
He would've looked exactly like a middle-aged shut-in uncle lounging around at home.
As usual, he opened the group chat.
The chat was full of people asking what had happened with Stelle earlier.
Levi started typing.
[Levi: Nothing much happened. Just work stuff.]
[Kiana: You have a job?]
This guy had even more free time than she did as a student. Did he seriously look like someone with a job?
[Levi: What's that supposed to mean?! What's THAT supposed to mean?! Just because someone has a job doesn't mean they can't be free!]
[Levi: My daily work is actually super simple! It's just! Just...]
"Just what was it again?"
He kept scratching his head and changing positions on the sofa, but no matter what, he simply couldn't remember what work he was actually responsible for at the Divination Commission.
Levi's sudden mental blank and silence caused an uproar in the group chat, but he quickly suppressed it with admin privileges.
[Levi: What are you all trying to do?!]
[Asta: Want to!]
[Kiana: ?]
[Elysia: ?]
[Lumine: ?]
Seeing Asta's reply, Stelle froze on the spot.
[Stelle: No, wait, Asta, you...]
'This isn't your style, is it?'
That line could've come from Kiana, from Lumine, or even from herself.
But it absolutely should not have come from Asta.
Seeing the sudden silence from everyone, Asta covered her face with both hands and quietly withdrew the message she had sent.
[Ding! Asta withdrew a message!]
[Asta: I didn't say anything.]
Judging from everyone's reactions, abstract humor probably didn't suit her after all. She should just quietly continue being a proper, serious person.
'Mm.'
'The group's one and only serious person!'
[Levi: Even if you want me, I'm not giving myself to you!]
———
"Pfft!"
Asta had just taken a sip of water and instantly sprayed it out again. Luckily, there weren't any electronic devices in front of her.
Otherwise there would've been property damage.
Wiping the water off herself, Asta stared at the group chat with a complicated expression.
"Thank you so much for specifically replying to me."
Too late now!
She was going back to being a proper person.
The topic about Levi ended there, and the girls began their before-bed chat session.
From personal hobbies to changes in the situations across their respective worlds.
In the middle of it all, there was only one recurring sentence...
"Hey! Did you know? **"
Mm. Levi was the one saying that.
Closing the lively group chat, he summoned his personal system panel.
It showed that Lumine's commission had been completed.
He claimed the reward belonging to Lumine.
Honestly, Levi wasn't especially looking forward to it. If it was just getting abilities from Lumine...
There really wasn't anything he particularly wanted.
Elemental powers would be fine, but if he ended up pulling that eternally unchanged dull blade of hers, along with all the junk she carried around...
"..."
He was afraid he wouldn't be able to resist stripping her clothes off and forcing some immortal-style outfit onto her instead.
He was a kind person. He couldn't bear seeing others live in hardship.
[Ding! Congratulations! You obtained: Adventurers' Guild Exclusive Outfit!]
Levi suddenly felt weight settle into his hands. A neatly folded set of clothes appeared there.
[Adventurers' Guild Exclusive Outfit!]
[Description: A standard outfit distributed to members of the Adventurers' Guild. Combining durability, waterproofing, and various other features suited for wilderness survival, it is the perfect choice for outdoor activities! (Note: This item is custom-tailored. Improper fit is impossible.)]
Levi showed absolutely no emotion after pulling the item.
"Custom-tailored for who?"
Why did he see something in this outfit that looked suspiciously like a skirt?
[Ding! Adventurer: Lumine!]
With a smack, Levi slammed the clothes onto the table and stared sharply at the system panel.
"I only have one question."
[...]
"Has Lumine worn it before?"
[...Ding...No...]
Disappointment.
Utter disappointment.
Levi stood up, stuffed the outfit into a cabinet without even looking at it again, then stretched lazily as he prepared to flop back onto bed for a good rest.
There was still a pile of things waiting for him tomorrow.
"But I think I forgot to ask Stelle about Jingliu..."
He'd been too busy showing off and forgot.
"Whatever. Asking tomorrow won't be too late."
Levi dove straight toward the bed.
Thud!
Squish!
"OWWWW!"
Levi pushed himself up with both hands and looked at the figure curled up on the bed, who had nearly been flattened into Qingque sauce.
He fell silent.
"Do you not have a home?"
"Thanks for asking. Sold the house. Deal closed today."
"..."
