Chapter 359 - Chapter 359: Charging into the Poison Fog Area

"In theory, yes."

Nostradamus nodded and said, "But that also depends on what kind of lost prophetic statue you find. If it's some kind of evil god statue, it might even drag you straight down to hell."

"I see."

Ethan nodded, then handed the lost prophetic statue over to Nostradamus and asked, "Master, then how long can the amplification effect of your formation last? Or does it disappear automatically after I leave?"

He glanced at his attributes.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

He remembered his previous stats. His elemental perception had only been 46 before. It seemed that this replica of the lost prophetic statue made by Nostradamus had directly doubled his elemental perception.

It had shot straight up to 92.

Ethan casually tossed out a Great Fireball spell to test it.

However… what shocked him was that the ordinary level-one Great Fireball he cast had directly expanded by a whole circle.

It looked like it was almost on par with that level-three Great Fireball, the Giant Great Fireball.

Then how big would the Giant Great Fireball itself be?

Still, sticking to his rule of not messing around at home, Ethan gave up testing the massively destructive Giant Great Fireball and instead tried something less dangerous, Great Fireball Split.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

With a casual flick of his hand, the Great Fireball that could originally only split into four suddenly surged to eight fireballs.

And even without using the instant-cast wand to increase the number, he could now directly split it into four fireballs. That alone showed just how massive this amplification effect was.

"It won't disappear immediately," Nostradamus explained, "The amplification and stimulation from this formation are time-dependent. The longer you stay in this manor, in other words, the longer you stay within the formation, the longer it continues to stimulate you. That means this amplification can keep going until your own potential is completely developed. At that point, it won't disappear ever again."

"But if you only receive one round of stimulation from the formation, awaken your potential, and then leave the manor, then your potential will slowly fade over time."

"For example, your potential might be one hundred today. If you keep being stimulated inside the formation, it will stay at one hundred."

"But if you leave, it will gradually drop back. Maybe it becomes eighty tomorrow, seventy the day after, sixty after that, and so on, until it falls back to what it was before you ever received the formation's enhancement."

"I think I get it," Ethan said after thinking it over, "So if I want to maintain my current potential, I need to return to the range of this formation from time to time, receive another round of stimulation, and keep it going until I completely get used to it, right?"

"Smart. That's exactly it," Nostradamus nodded, then suddenly remembered something important, "Oh right…"

"Oh right, there's still one direction I haven't checked."

Ethan naturally knew what Nostradamus was about to ask. He directly left the lost prophetic statue behind and said, "Master, take your time studying this statue. I'm heading out first. We'll talk later if anything comes up."

With that said, Ethan mounted his bone horse once again and left.

As he departed, he gave a whistle. The white eagle immediately flew out from its nest, carrying flames as it followed him through the air.

Hearing the whistle, the scarecrow came running from who-knows-where, then quickly hopped to Ethan's side and followed him toward another direction.

———

The poison fog area to the north—

This place had originally been an icefield, but now it had turned into a gray, murky expanse.

The ice on the ground had become dirty gray as well, and with the polar night, the entire icefield looked like a massive black curtain.

Ethan couldn't even see what was inside.

"White… forget it. Scarecrow bro, take a Sun Worm in and check it out."

Ethan had originally wanted the white eagle to go in, but when he thought about the poison fog inside, he immediately changed his mind.

Better to send the scarecrow. That thing was basically an object anyway, it couldn't be poisoned to death.

["Okay."]

The scarecrow hadn't contributed much these past few days.

Now that it had been given a task, it didn't complain. It simply let the Sun Worm rest on its hat, then hopped step by step into the poison fog.

After going in for a short while, the scarecrow started communicating with Ethan.

["I can't see anything inside. It's gray everywhere."]

["But so far, I don't think I've run into any danger."]

["There are a lot of weird white little balls though. When they stick to you, they make a cracking sound like an egg breaking, and there's some sticky stuff inside. I don't know what it is, it's kinda gross."]

["Ah! What the hell is that? What the hell is that thing on my face?"]

["Ethan, save me! Hurry, come save me!"]

["Ahhh!!"]

"What happened? What happened?"

Ethan was instantly startled.

From outside, he could only see a blurry point of light moving through the fog. He couldn't make out anything that was actually happening inside.

Hearing the scarecrow's screams, he rushed in immediately.

[Poison Resistance +0.1]

[Poison Resistance +0.1]

[Poison Resistance…]

The moment he charged into the poison fog area, Ethan once again started receiving frequent notifications of poison resistance increases.

It was obvious just how toxic this fog was.

His poison resistance was already maxed out.

But even so, Ethan couldn't figure out why he was still getting +0.1 increases despite already being at max resistance.

Whoosh!

At that moment, a massive dark shadow suddenly flashed past right in front of him.

Without hesitation, Ethan pulled out his wand and fired a Great Fireball straight at the shadow.

BOOM!

However, the instant the fireball was launched, it exploded right in front of Ethan.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Ethan was nearly blown to death by his own spell.

'Damn it!'

'This poison fog… it is actually flammable gas?'

Now Ethan was completely dumbfounded. So in this poison fog area, he couldn't use even a single Great Fireball.

["Ethan, save me!"]

At that moment, the scarecrow's voice rang out once again in Ethan's mind.
