Chapter 361 - Chapter 361: Disgusting and Useless Monsters

"Good thing," When Ethan saw it was meant for feeding pets, he immediately let out a breath and said, "Good thing it's not for people to eat, otherwise even if I sold it on the world channel, I doubt many would be able to swallow it."

["Ugh! These things look way too disgusting,"] the scarecrow said with disgust, ["This is basically disgusting's mom opening the door for disgusting, disgusting all the way home!"]

"What the hell kind of phrase is that?", Ethan jumped up from the pit and leaped straight out of the one-meter-deep hole, "Let's go! Let's check up ahead."

["You're still going deeper? This place is way too gross. How about we head back?"], the scarecrow said nervously.

"Sure. If you're scared, just go back," Ethan didn't force it and simply waved his hand, "But if you run into something like that again later, don't expect me to come save you."

"No, no, I thought it over carefully. Since we're a team, we should share both good times and bad."

The scarecrow shamelessly hopped up out of the pit as well, and the two of them continued heading deeper.

Fortunately, Ethan could see the prompts and knew the location of the diamond treasure chest.

Otherwise, trying to search blindly in this foggy place… there was no telling how long it would take to find anything.

Whoosh!

As they walked, another dark shadow flashed past Ethan.

["Ahhh!"]

The scarecrow screamed in fright.

Having learned his lesson from before, Ethan resisted the urge to cast a Great Fireball. Instead, he raised the Dragon-Slaying Saber and slashed at the fast-moving shadow.

Crack!

A crisp sound like chopping a cucumber rang out.

Then came a noise similar to some kind of insect. Hearing it, Ethan walked toward the source of the sound.

And then…

["Damn it! It's those cursed Cockroach Immortals again?"]

["So that black shadow just now was this thing?",] the scarecrow said, stunned, ["So cockroaches in the south really can fly?"]

"Your head! This is the Mist World," Ethan snapped back, "And look closely, can this thing even be called a cockroach? This is a straight-up monster."

["Alright… holy crap! There's so many!"]

Right at that moment, the scarecrow started screaming again.

But this time, it didn't even need to say anything, because Ethan also heard the dense "cha-cha-cha" sounds. When he looked up, he saw a large mass of black shapes flying toward him through the gray fog.

No need to guess, it had to be those damn Cockroach Immortals.

"Damn it! Why are you still standing there? Run!"

Ethan grabbed the scarecrow's arm and bolted in the opposite direction of the incoming swarm.

It wasn't that he was afraid of the Cockroach Immortals.

They were just way too disgusting.

On top of that… he couldn't use the Great Fireball in this cursed place, so he could only rely on the Dragon-Slaying Saber to hack them down.

If those Cockroach Immortals were on the ground, it'd be fine. But if they were all flying, then every swing would splash their pus right onto his face!

And there were so many of them, how long would it take to kill them all?

So, Ethan didn't hesitate to choose running.

Of course, the most important reason of all was that these Cockroach Immortals weren't worth killing anyway. Barely any beast cores dropped, and he'd still end up covered in filth. He had no interest in that.

Cha-cha-cha!

Cha-cha-cha-cha-cha!

A massive swarm of flying Cockroach Immortals was rapidly closing in on Ethan and the scarecrow.

Meanwhile, the scarecrow hopped along frantically, shouting in panic, ["Ethan, where are we going to hide? This thing is terrifying! They were just trying to dig out my eyeballs to eat them. If you had come a second later, I'd really be blind!"]

"Stop yelling, you're giving me a headache!"

Seeing that the scarecrow was hopping way too slowly, Ethan simply hoisted it onto his shoulder and ran toward a nearby cave.

["Ethan, hurry up!"]

But his words had no effect at all on the chatterbox scarecrow.

It kept shouting, ["They're catching up! I can see those things holding weapons!"]

["Holy crap, how can a cockroach hold weapons? And it's holding four weapons, this is insane!"]

["Damn it! Some of them are getting ready to shoot arrows!"]

"Damn!"

Hearing that the Cockroach Immortals behind him could actually wield weapons, Ethan pulled out his enchanted Dragon Bow and nocked a Rich Arrow.

There were plenty of Cockroach Immortals here. If one Rich Arrow could wipe out this whole disgusting swarm, it wouldn't be a waste.

Whoosh!

But the moment the Rich Arrow was fired… Ethan was shocked to see that the arrowhead was rapidly corroding in the poison fog.

In the end, only a wooden shaft remained, dropping uselessly to the ground.

"Holy crap!"

Ethan exclaimed.

The attack and defense of these Cockroach Immortals were indeed pretty average, but their environment was just too ridiculous.

It could even corrode a Rich Arrow.

What couldn't it corrode?

Ethan pulled out a Wind Arrow, but before he could even fire it, the arrowhead had already started rusting.

Cha-cha-cha!

During that brief delay, quite a few Cockroach Immortals had already flown right up to him.

With no other choice, Ethan swung his Dragon-Slaying Saber again, hacking wildly at them.

Countless Cockroach Immortals were instantly split in half and fell to the ground.

But at the same time… Ethan was splattered all over with their pus again. The stench was overpowering, foul beyond belief.

["Ahhh, Ethan, more are coming,"] the scarecrow kept screaming, ["Over there, over there, another big group!"]

"Shut up!", Seeing that things were going badly, Ethan hoisted the scarecrow again and sprinted toward the cave indicated by the prompt, "There's a cave up ahead. As soon as we get inside, we'll blow up the entrance. These things won't be able to get in."

["Ahhh! How much farther?"]

The scarecrow screamed miserably, probably having been shot by a Cockroach Immortal.

But back in the treasure area, it had taken arrows without any problem at all, so Ethan was confident it would be fine here too. He didn't even bother asking what happened and simply replied, "About fifty meters. I can already see the entrance."

Deep within the foggy poison area, a pitch-black cave entrance over two meters tall suddenly appeared within the mist.

And surrounding the entrance were cliffs nearly ten meters high, so Ethan didn't have many options. He could only rush into the cave first.
