Chapter 463 - Chapter 463: Charlie's Sigh

"Charlie!"

Harriet watched as Charlie was about to be smashed to pieces and immediately shouted.

But Charlie was still in shock from beginning to end. He couldn't even make any move to lessen the impact. He simply held his arms in front of himself and fell down in a daze.

"AHHH!"

Charlie let out a scream.

However, in the next second, a pale yellow light spread across his entire body and enveloped him.

The yellow light then became like a giant bubble, wrapping around Charlie's body. It actually caused Charlie, who had been falling at high speed, to slowly stop descending, as if he were floating in midair.

Only then did the yellow light carry Charlie slowly to the ground.

It was like a fallen leaf carrying the weight of a snail, drifting gently to the ground with the wind.

"This is..."

Harriet's eyes lit up, and she said happily, "Isn't this the Lord's Holy Light? Why is it on Charlie?"

"Hah!", After landing, Charlie suddenly jumped up and said excitedly, "Sister Harriet, I'm not dead! Hahaha! I'm actually not dead! I was really almost scared to death."

"The Lord's Holy Light protected you," Harriet let out a sigh of relief, "But speaking of which, why do you have the Lord's Holy Light on you?"

"It should be this."

Charlie took out a tiny glass ball hanging around his neck, but the glass ball had already cracked.

Somewhat regretfully, he said, "The Lord gave it to me before I left. He said it was a protective charm. There was originally a yellow light inside, but it's broken now, so it's gone."

"So that's it."

Only then did Harriet relax.

At that moment, several more explosions sounded from the tree, causing the Desert Tree to lose several hundred more points of health.

Harriet looked toward Ethan and the others and discovered that Ethan, together with his birdmen, looked like old farmers working in a field. He alone was responsible for harvesting countless red mushrooms.

Meanwhile, his subjects followed behind him, continuously collecting the mushrooms he cut down with each swing of his sword.

That crescent-shaped sword energy of Ethan's, with every strike, he could clear a large area of mushrooms within dozens of meters. In fact, even with three flying birdmen collecting them, they were having trouble keeping up with the mushrooms he was cutting down.

"What... kind of sword technique is this?"

Harriet froze on the spot as she watched this overwhelmingly powerful sword technique.

Earlier, she had thought herself unmatched after releasing sword energy more than ten meters long with a single slash. But now, compared to Ethan's sword energy that could cut down everything within a range of thirty or forty meters in one strike, she was completely stunned.

So, she had thought Ethan only knew space magic and that his swordsmanship definitely couldn't compare to hers.

But only now did Harriet realize, she was the frog at the bottom of the well.

She simply wasn't qualified to compare swords with Ethan.

"Sister Harriet, I checked. Those mushrooms seem to grow only in the sand. None of them grow on the tree trunk."

After narrowly escaping death, Charlie carefully observed the Desert Tree and found that mushrooms did not grow on the tree at all.

That meant Ethan had probably put those mushrooms up there on purpose to force them down.

"And then?"

Harriet did not immediately understand what Charlie meant. She merely asked blankly.

Charlie, whose face was still pale from fright, glared at Ethan and the others and said bitterly, "It must have been because Ethan wanted to force us down, so he..."

"Shut up!"

After witnessing the terror of Ethan's sword intent, Harriet no longer had any desire to oppose him.

She quickly stepped forward and covered Charlie's mouth.

"Even if you know who did it, you can't say it! The moment you say it, you'll become enemies. Then it'll be a fight to the death!"

"Mmph..."

Only after a while did Charlie react and repeatedly nod.

But what he was actually thinking was that she had already lit Netherworld Incense. Weren't they already on a path where only one side could survive?

Was there any point in seeking peace now?

"Alright, let's go help too."

After learning what Ethan was capable of, Harriet became much more obedient.

But in truth, she was already thinking about when to run away, or what kind of benefit she could offer Ethan in exchange for a chance to survive.

[T/N: If Ethan really let's this beech get away, belive me, I am gonna crash.]

"Lord Ethan, we're here to help."

Standing behind Ethan, Harriet forced a stiff professional smile.

Ethan couldn't even be bothered to look at the two of them and said, "Then get moving. What, do you need me to make a speech just because you're helping?"

"No! No! We'll get started right away."

Harriet waved her hands repeatedly with a smile, then rolled up her sleeves and immediately began picking mushrooms behind Ethan.

Charlie naturally didn't dare slack off either and quickly joined in collecting mushrooms.

Until, the moment Charlie put a mushroom into his backpack.

Only then did he finally learn the name of those red-capped, white-stemmed mushrooms.

They were actually called Boom Boom Mushrooms.

'No wonder they exploded.'

'It seems...'

'Ethan knew from the beginning that these things would explode, which is why he deliberately put the Boom Boom Mushrooms onto the tree.'

'No, he didn't throw them up there.'

'Otherwise Sister Harriet would definitely have noticed.'

'So this man must have opened a spatial gate and transferred the Boom Boom Mushrooms onto the tree.'

'What a ruthless man!'

Charlie let out a long sigh.

After reviewing everything that had just happened, he already knew that this man would definitely not let them go.

Now, the only way to escape from this place was... Charlie glanced at Harriet.
