"Please tell me this is a fucking lie," Phoenix said, panicking.
His voice shook, eyes wide like he'd just seen a ghost. I'd never seen him like this.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Holland…" Jamie looked back at the stall, then at me, his jaw tight.
"What's going on?" I repeated, heart starting to race. Why were they freaking out? It was just a pack of gummies. I looked at the stall again a d there was nothing there. Why were they over reacting?
"Why would you do that?" Phoenix said, voice rising. "I have a performance in a few minutes!"
"Yeah and?" I asked, genuinely confused. Did I mess something up? What did my gummies have to do with his performance?
"Holland, why did you buy that?" Sorne said, his tone sharp, like I'd done something unforgivable.
"Because it was delicious?" I said, but it came out defensive. The sweet taste still lingered on my tongue, sweet and sharp. What's the big deal?
