The girls are thrown into a dungeon cell together, locking the door. Coraline looks around for an escape route as soon as the guards leave the room as Violet looks around the dungeon.
The dungeon is an ugly yellow brick, the metal an old and rusted yellow. There's a window in the cell, at least five bricks tall. Yellow rust chains align the wall. For holding powerful people perhaps? The yellow stone floor damp slightly, making the walls around it look even more dull.
"How in the Seven Kingdoms are we going to get out of this!?" Coraline yelled in frustration as she found no escape. We can't sneak out of here, Violet contrasts too much. And I can't do my spells without my grimoire!
"Cora, calm down! Yelling won't make it better!" Violet says with a shaky voice, clearly frustrated that her cousin is acting and not thinking of a plan.
"Can't you just use a teleportation spell or something?" Violet asks, running her hands through her hair. "Vye, remember what Aunt Ira - I mean your mother - said? She said each kingdom has a special item that they use to perform magic, and without it, they are as powerless as their subjects."
"True, but remember the stories of Raya? They say she was able to control all the colors with her bare hands!" Violet says as she smiles like a child. She's 15, yet she acts as a five year old. What am I going to do with her?
"Yes Vye, I remember that, but those are just stories. And plus, if they are true, Queen Iris Rainbow could probably be that one to control magic with her bare hands," Coraline replies matter of factually.
Classic Cora, not believing stories - that are probably true. But, what if she's right this time and mother's stories were…. Fake…? Violet thought, doubt clinging to her mind but she quickly pushes it away, reminding herself that she made a promise.
"Cora?" Violet calls out to her cousin as she's lost in thought. "Yes, Violet? Can't you see I'm thinking?" Coraline replies, her voice slightly annoyed.
"Is it just me or is the sun rising?" Violet says as she looks out the window.
"In the name of Beliarosa…. We spent all night thinking and we didn't even notice!" Coraline punches the wall in frustration, but a spark of magic flies off her hand that only Violet seems to see.
Is that…. Hand magic….? Violet thinks for a second, No, it's probably just a trick of the light…
Suddenly, the dungeon doors open with a golden light like the sun itself. We're screwed! Both Violet and Coraline thought as they were dragged outside, where the whole Yellow Kingdom was, awaiting their execution.
Coraline was held back by some guards as Violet was brought to the chopping block. I don't care if I die, please Beliarosa, give me the power to save my cousin! Coraline thought asshe thrashed against the guards.
King Albert is talking on and on about how this is an example, Sunny is nowhere to be seen and the other royals are standing with the king.
No… this can't be the end… What about my brother and sisters? My kingdom? I need to escape… but how? Violet thought as they prepared to behead her.
