Chapter 85: Isn't This What It Means to Become a Dragon Knight?

Damn it!

The Tang God King's face darkened. The Silver Dragon King's sudden assault had forced him to act personally, expending a vast portion of his divine consciousness. Though he managed to repel her, she would definitely return stronger.

He had originally reserved three manifestations of divine will to guard against the Abyssal Plane, a final line of defense to prevent his grand plan from collapsing. But now, one of those chances had been wasted.

"Silver Dragon King, you've sought your own destruction!"

He could still sense the turbulence of the Golden Dragon King's sealed consciousness raging within Tang Wulin's body. Losing the Golden Dragon Spear's suppressive effect, he had no choice but to leave the Sea God's Trident—his own super divine weapon—upon his son to stabilize the seal.

That decision would cost him dearly. In the Divine Realm, when he faced the Destruction God King, lacking the trident meant losing his greatest weapon. The clash had nearly shattered even the Sea God's godhood itself.

All because of Huo Yuhao. Because of that man, the Golden Dragon Spear had been lost—and Tang San's anger only deepened.

Meanwhile, back in the mortal realm, Jiang Chen arrived at Gu Yue's courtyard—where he found her current… tiny state.

And yet, seeing her small and delicate, injured as she was, he'd instinctively offered her a priceless immortal herb.

Now that he had time to think about it, he was furious at himself.

"I got played! Totally scammed!"

That was a fairy herb! And he'd just handed it over to her! His heart ached with regret.

Looking at the little silver dragon lying quietly on the couch, eyes closed again, he decided it would be a waste to just let her rest scot-free.

He was also genuinely curious—what in the world had she done to end up this badly injured? Even her divine consciousness had been shattered.

"Could it be… she actually went head-to-head with the Tang God King?"

He pieced it together quickly.

The Golden Dragon Spear was currently in his possession. The Tang God King, deprived of his bloodline suppression tool, would've had to use another weapon—his super divine weapon, the Sea God's Trident.

That meant his fragment of divine consciousness could unleash its full strength.

And this semi-recovered, half-sealed, underpowered Silver Dragon King—missing her Silver Dragon Spear and far from her prime—was no match at all.

"Tsk, tsk... What on earth were you thinking, picking that fight? Where's that 'peerless Dragon God wisdom' of yours now?"

On the couch, Gu Yue's eyes twitched. She felt his mocking thoughts—and her little claws dug deep grooves into the fabric, tearing straight through the couch's soft padding.

The small Silver Dragon King was furious, though too weak to explode as usual.

Fine. Let him have his fun. When she became Dragon God again, she'd repay this humiliation a thousandfold.

"What are you doing!"

Suddenly, she jolted upright, tail tucked defensively, glaring at him.

"You—you scoundrel!"

"Come on, let me pet you!"

"Get out!" Gu Yue snapped, her violet eyes flaring with Dragon King fury.

How dare he take advantage of her when she was weak!

"Oh, come on~ I just want to touch you a little! It's not like you'll lose any scales."

Jiang Chen had gotten used to her temper. And honestly, with her reduced to the size of a kitten, who could resist?

He reached out with shameless hands and scooped the tiny dragon into his arms.

"No! Put me down! I'm warning you—put me down!"

But Jiang Chen ignored her completely.

Petting a dragon—who wouldn't want to?

Her silver scales weren't cold or rigid as he'd imagined. They were surprisingly silky, smooth beneath his hands.

"Let... me... go!" she growled, still struggling weakly.

While supporting her small body with one hand, he raised the other, dangling the Teardrop of Yearning Dew just out of her reach.

Luckily, her reflexes were quick—she snapped up the herb in one bite before he could grab it again.

But what Jiang Chen really wanted wasn't the herb.

It was an excuse to run his hand down her smooth, gleaming back.

"Mmm—"

Every time she tried to loosen her bite, he'd reach toward her, making her tighten her jaw on the herb again. Tears welled in her eyes, glistening with fury and humiliation.

She would remember this disgrace forever.

"Damn you, Jiang Chen... I'll never forgive this!"

He smiled in satisfaction as she finally went still in his arms.

"See? That's better."

Behind her, her little tail kept swishing angrily, thumping weakly against his chest as if protesting his "crime."

Though, from his perspective... that tail was dangerously distracting.

Without thinking, he reached out and grabbed it.

Gu Yue's eyes instantly turned red.

"Don't—don't touch the tail! Ahhh!"

Thus ended Jiang Chen's blissful "vacation."

He had spent the past few days caring for the injured Silver Dragon, hardly setting foot back home, while the Snow Empress hadn't even bothered to ask questions.

His "Dragon Petting Adventure" had been immensely satisfying.

One could even say—he had officially become a Dragon Knight.

He had subdued her completely; the once cold and domineering Silver Dragon King now acted quite tame (though only because of her infant form).

Dragon hatchlings really were adorable—and far more fun than the usual aloof Gu Yue.

Still, all good things must end. Duty called once more.

By the time of the Tianhai Tournament, Gu Yue had recovered. While she hadn't regained her godly strength, she had restored her sealed power to the forty-ninth level—more than enough for now.

However, when she saw Tang Wulin again, she didn't rush to him as usual. She merely stood quietly beside Jiang Chen, eyes vacant, lost in thought.

"Ugh, unbelievable!"

Behind them, Huo Yun'er pouted, glaring dagger eyes at the scene.

Her ancestor already had people clinging to both sides of him!

That Gu Yue—she used to chase Tang Wulin around every day, and now she'd switched targets to Jiang Chen? Shameless! Two-timing woman!

No matter what schemes she had, Huo Yun'er wouldn't let her succeed!

"Ancestor, don't worry! Yun'er will protect you!"

She remembered clearly what her clan leader had told her: never let bad women from outside steal away their ancestor!

Still, facing Gu Yue, who was her age yet already level forty-nine like Jiang Chen, Huo Yun'er felt helpless.

Sure, Jiang Chen was a million-year soul beast reborn as human—that she could accept.

But Gu Yue too? How was she supposed to compete with that?

"Ancestor... just wait! I'll catch up! I'll save you one day!" she swore silently.

"This time," Wu Zhangkong announced solemnly, "you're not just competitors. You represent the academy's honor. Show the Federation and the Spirit Pagoda that their investment in you was worth it. Understood?"

"Understood!"

The words rang loud and clear.

Every student grew serious, ready to prove themselves.

Especially Tang Wulin and Xie Xie—this was their chance to shine.

Most importantly—to show off in front of the senior sisters!
