Chapter 4 - I Love You, Husband

Suzette Afonso, the eldest daughter, stared at the blood on the floor. But beyond the terror, the expression on her beautiful face was one of astonishment. Because, from what she remembered, there should have been a corpse lying there. Not just blood — her father's body should have been there.

And the youngest ones, Pancho and Kiala, should have been crying, clinging to the corpse. But now the place was empty. Only blood, almost black and dried, and the absence of the people who should have been there.

Suzette was a Reborn. Her talent in her previous life was REINCARNATION (A). It was a powerful talent, yet also utterly useless — you could only use it after dying. And the saddest part was that she didn't even last long before the talent activated, because she died during the invasion of all the races. It happened six months after the tower appeared.

All the races united against a common enemy: humans.

When the Celestial Domain descended, people initially believed it was humanity's great chance to finally reach the level of the gods of legend. And in a way, it was.

But what nobody knew was that the opportunity wasn't given only to humans — it applied to every living creature on the planet. With the evolution of the other races, humans lost the advantage they once held: intelligence. With evolution, everyone became intelligent.

In the beginning, as if under a silent agreement, each race chose a region, gathered, and formed their colonies and kingdoms. This caused trouble, because nature was harsh. Most food came from hunting animals.

Fortunately, secret realms began opening, and monster corpses from the Celestial Domain could be brought outside.

Then, as if another silent pact had been made, on the sixth month after the domain's arrival — when people began adjusting to the new reality — a large-scale coordinated attack began. A joint assault. The races launched war against the humans.

She died during that period. She was too weak.

And the saddest part was that, as she died, her last thoughts were of her father — the father she had stopped respecting after discovering that her uncle was actually her biological father. When her uncle revealed the secret, she was shocked, scared, and furious. The truth shattered her entire world. Everything she believed had been a lie. And things got even worse when he told her that all her siblings were his children as well.

She looked at her uncle in horror. She thought of her parents' relationship — the father she admired, and the mother she respected. And finding out it was all a joke destroyed her. Worse, she discovered that everyone knew except her father and the youngest siblings.

At first, she didn't want to believe it. Later she chose not to tell her father out of fear. And with time, she began distancing herself from him and getting closer to the uncle who was her 'real' father. Respect turned into indifference, and later into contempt. Over time, she killed her father emotionally little by little — things like asking the uncle to walk her down the aisle at her wedding, giving her daughter his surname, and more. She slowly realized that, out of fear of her father's reaction if he ever learned the truth, she had gradually cut him out of her life.

She would never forget the last time she saw him — the day of the confrontation.

They were supposed to tell the twins when they turned 20, just as they had done with everyone else. But unlike the others, the twins refused to stay silent out of fear. They told their father everything.

She remembers that day vividly. His eyes full of pain, despair, disgust, and deep hatred as he faced the entire family that had betrayed him. Everyone he loved had betrayed him. Parents, in-laws, siblings, uncles — all knew, all stayed silent, and all turned him into a joke.

When he cut ties with everyone, especially her, she felt her heart split open. She wanted to run after him, but the shame was too much. She was one of the reasons for his heartbreak.

After that day, the biological father she had once admired, the mother she tried to understand, and the grandparents — she slowly began distancing herself from all of them. A feeling of revulsion and disgust grew inside her.

These people had cruelly destroyed someone they claimed to love — and still found excuses to justify their actions.

A week later, while she was thinking of how to apologize to her father — choked by guilt overwhelming her — she received a call from Pancho, crying, telling her that their father had committed suicide.

At first, she froze and thought of Daniel, but then remembered that Pancho never recognized Daniel as his father. And then everything collapsed.

Since they were at their grandparents' house, she, her mother, Tiago, Evandro, Selma, and the others ran there. On the way, the Celestial Domain descended, but they were so emotionally shattered that they ignored it completely.

When they arrived, they saw the younger siblings crying and embracing their father's corpse. And for her, everything fell apart.

She thought of her life, her childhood, the moments she shared with him — always present, affectionate, playful. And she thought of her betrayal. All her siblings cried loudly. Her mother wept uncontrollably, begging for forgiveness.

When she tried to approach the body, the youngest, Kiala, stood up furiously, slapped their mother across the face, and shoved her away.

"It's your fault. All of you. You killed my father."

Those eyes — Suzette had only seen them once before, a week earlier, when her father confronted the entire family. And now she saw the same cold fury in the twins' eyes.

"Don't you dare touch my father! You killed him!" Pancho yelled as he pushed the others away.

"It's because of YOU that my father died," Pancho said, glaring at their mother.

Everyone stepped back in shame and guilt as they cried in silence.

When they left that house, two truths were undeniable: her father died because of her, and the world had changed because of the Celestial Domain.

She walked aimlessly through the streets. Everyone was talking about the Celestial Domain. She, for the first time, opened her status panel. She didn't understand most of it.

She wandered without purpose, and at night returned to her grandparents' house to discuss the funeral and the changes in the world. She planned to cut ties with that family after her father's funeral. Most likely everyone would gather there.

But when she entered, she saw another nightmare that day.

Tiago, Evandro, Selma, the grandparents, her biological father, his family and children, the aunts and their families — all were dead.

But her uncle, her biological father — he had no eyes, no limbs. He was obviously tortured before dying.

Her mother's corpse was hanging from the ceiling by a rope, swaying gently.

On the living-room wall, written in the blood of the dead, were the words:

FORGIVE ME, HUSBAND. I BETRAYED YOU AND DESERVE TO DIE.

WE ALL DESERVE TO DIE.

IF THERE IS ANOTHER LIFE, PLEASE LET ME BE YOURS.

I WILL BE LOYAL TO YOU AND I PROMISE TO LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART.

I LOVE YOU, HUSBAND.
