Chapter 126: Accompanying Tang Ya to Buy a House
Tang Ya had just walked out of the Soul Arena when she saw Ye Chen standing outside. Instantly, her face lit up with joy.
"Ye Chen, why are you here~?"
The moment her eyes found him, Tang Ya rushed into his arms, hugging him tightly.
Since there was no one nearby, Tang Ya could finally relax a little.
"Of course I came because I missed Sister Xiao Ya~" Ye Chen lowered his head slightly and placed a quick kiss on her cheek.
"Hmph, you'd better miss me for something proper…" Tang Ya muttered softly, a faint blush spreading across her face.
After all, Ye Chen's needs in that area were quite large, and every time, she… had to help him.
"Ahem, I'm not that kind of person."
With a serious expression, Ye Chen quickly changed the topic. "Sister Xiao Ya, I think it's time for Tang Sect to have a base of its own. Let's go take a look around Shrek City. We can buy a manor to serve as Tang Sect's headquarters. It'll be more convenient for us in the future."
What Ye Chen truly meant was simple: having their own place would make things much easier.
Otherwise, they always ended up at hotels—even though the Supreme Suites were nice, they still couldn't compare to having their own home.
Although real estate prices in Shrek were quite high, they could never exceed the value of a single spirit bone.
Gold Soul Coins had great purchasing power; only things used by soul masters, like soul tools and spirit bones, were somewhat expensive.
Ye Chen had already looked into it. A manor of about 3,000 square meters would only cost a few hundred Gold Soul Coins.
He had even already found one he liked a while ago, and with his current wealth, he could easily pay in full.
However, since it was to serve as Tang Sect's future headquarters in Shrek City, it was only right to bring Tang Ya along to see it. If she was satisfied, they could complete the purchase right away.
"What? Buy a manor? Wouldn't that cost a lot of money? Isn't that too wasteful?" Tang Ya asked anxiously, clearly worried about Ye Chen's finances.
Although she had inherited a bit from the old Tang Sect, that had been when Tang Sect was already in decline. All its external industries had been divided up, leaving her with little more than enough to live comfortably for herself.
Buying a manor would definitely stretch her resources thin.
She was deeply moved, though. She hadn't expected Ye Chen to be so thoughtful about Tang Sect's future—so willing to spend his own money for it.
Indeed, she hadn't been wrong about him. Appointing Ye Chen as Tang Sect's vice sect master might have been the best decision she had ever made.
"Let's go. I'll take you to see the manor I picked out. If you like it, we'll buy it."
Ye Chen gently pulled on Tang Ya's hand as they walked out of the academy. "You don't need to worry about money," he explained. "I'm a Soul Engineer now—it's easy for me to earn. Tang Sect is still a proper sect, after all. It'd be embarrassing not to even have a headquarters."
"You're right…"
Tang Ya nodded softly, then asked, "How much would it cost, though? I have some money too. I can't let you pay for everything alone."
She lightly bit her lip, clearly ready to empty her own savings if necessary.
"No need—I'll handle it." Ye Chen waved his hand casually.
He already regarded Tang Sect as his personal backyard. Investing in it felt natural.
Buying a manor would also give him a relaxing place to bring his women for vacations in his spare time—a perfect arrangement.
As for developing Tang Sect into a greater power, that could wait. Once he became invincible under the heavens, it would only take a single command for Tang Sect to rise as the number one sect on the continent. There'd be no need for the slow, step-by-step approach of a simulation game.
"Well… then I'll let you treat me this time," Tang Ya said softly, her heart filled with even more affection and gratitude toward Ye Chen.
"As Tang Sect's vice sect master, this is just part of my duty."
Ye Chen gave a carefree smile. "Alright, Sister Xiao Ya, let's go. I've already found a great manor. If you like it, we'll make it Tang Sect's new home base."
Ye Chen took Tang Ya's hand, leading her out of Shrek Academy and toward the direction of the manor he had chosen long ago.
"Not far now, just around that corner," Ye Chen said as they walked.
Holding his hand, Tang Ya's heart filled with anticipation.
She knew how difficult it was to restore Tang Sect. For the longest time, they hadn't even been able to recruit disciples—let alone own a property in Shrek City.
Before long, a quaint and elegant manor came into view.
The walls were built with gray stone—not tall, but they exuded a sense of age and history. Two dark wooden gates stood wide open, as if awaiting their master's arrival.
"This is the place." Ye Chen stopped and pointed at the manor.
Tang Ya looked up, her eyes brightening.
It wasn't what she had imagined. Unlike the typical luxurious or attention-seeking mansions of Shrek City, this one appeared understated and serene, carrying a refined aura of quiet dignity.
The stone steps before the doors were spotless. Simple carvings adorned the lintel above, giving the entry an air of subtle grandeur.
Just the exterior alone made her feel that this was an ideal starting point for rebuilding Tang Sect—humble, dignified, and unassuming.
"Shall we go inside?" Ye Chen asked, immediately sensing that she was pleased with it.
Tang Ya nodded, both nervous and excited. "Mm!"
Ye Chen took her delicate hand and led her in.
The front courtyard wasn't large or small—paved with clean, flat bluestone tiles.
A few evergreen shrubs grew neatly in the corners, adding a touch of life and freshness.
Beyond a decorative brick wall, the inner courtyard opened up, much more spacious.
The layout was symmetrical. A pebble-paved pathway led toward several well-arranged houses in the back.
Tang Ya's gaze was quickly drawn to one corner of the courtyard.
There, she found a square pool built from polished greenstone!
"Oh! Is that a pool?" Tang Ya gasped in surprise, hurrying over for a closer look.
Though the air was still a bit chilly, the glimmering, clear water was delightfully refreshing to the eyes.
"It's a small artificial swimming pool," Ye Chen explained proudly as he joined her. "The water's from an underground source—warm in winter, cool in summer. When it gets hot, we can take a dip to cool down."
Of course, swimming meant swimsuits—and that sounded wonderful to him.
He had always envied Zhang Lexuan's hot spring, so he specifically sought a manor with its own pool.
"Hmph, you probably picked this place so you could watch us in swimsuits!" Tang Ya huffed, easily seeing through him.
"Haha, alright, alright. Let's go check out the rooms inside," Ye Chen said awkwardly after being exposed, quickly changing the subject and pulling her toward the back.
The rear houses were a bit old but structurally sound.
The main hall was bright and spacious, with several rooms behind it that could be used for living quarters or meditation. One large room, in particular, Ye Chen pointed out—he planned to turn it into a soul tool workshop.
There was also a kitchen and a sizable storeroom. It wasn't a luxurious palace, but it would easily meet the needs of Tang Sect's members for daily life or meetings. Peaceful and private, it was perfect.
Each room had large windows, letting in plenty of light.
Tang Ya went through each room, feeling increasingly satisfied.
The space was big enough, the location just right—not too close and not too far from Shrek Academy.
The dorms were small and shabby, inconvenient for many activities.
But if they could have a home of their own in Shrek City, life from then on would surely be blissful…
