Chapter 246: 265. Tang Hao, Useless but Handsome
"Honored Dragon Kings, we mean no harm," Tang Hao said respectfully. "We only wish to harvest some of the heavenly herbs in this place."
"No," the Fire Dragon King replied coldly. "Everything here exists because of the energy we released. Therefore, everything here belongs to us. Now, leave."
Tang San let out a faint snort. "You're just lingering spirits of the dead. These treasures belong to those strong enough to claim them. Since we discovered this place, why should we hold back?"
As the former God King Tang San, he knew the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings well. They were long dead; only their soul remnants remained. How much power could two half-faded spirits possibly have? And more importantly, he had his invincible father with him.
"Father," he said expectantly, shooting Tang Hao a meaningful look—it was obvious he wanted his father to display his might.
Tang Hao's face immediately turned rigid. Deep down, he knew the truth—his "cheat" had been sealed long ago. What remained was his bare, honest power. Even as a Level 96 Title Douluo, his current battle strength was far from the terrifying heights of his Level 89 days. He had originally planned to negotiate with the dragons peacefully—but his son's arrogance had already ruined the mood. Now, things were awkward.
"Never have I seen humans this arrogant before," the Ice Dragon King growled, surging forth with glacial killing intent. "Is it this Titled Douluo who gives you such courage?"
With a bone-chilling roar, the dragon soared toward them.
Tang Hao's heart sank. Looks like I'll have to handle this myself. Even if they were only lingering souls, the Dragon Kings weren't beings he could take lightly.
Steeling himself, he activated the Killing God Domain. Crimson energy erupted outward, covering the valley—but as he felt the pressure coursing through his body, disappointment crept in. Gone was that old rush of power multiplying dozens of times over.
Nine rings surrounded him—yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black, black, crimson.
Tang San looked upon the blood-red ninth ring. Because his father wasn't a spirit beast, Tang San immediately and mistakenly assumed it must have come from his mother's sacrifice.
Tang Hao raised his massive hammer. "Martial Spirit True Body!"
Above the canyon, an enormous shadow appeared—a colossal phantom of Tang Hao wielding a Haotian Hammer tens of meters long. Crimson aura rolled outward like waves of fire.
"Ring Explosion!"
Every ring except the seventh detonated, releasing pure energy that poured into his Martial Spirit True Body. The giant phantom swelled even larger.
Father, how could you… explode Mother's ring? Tang San's heart trembled. In his past life, his father had never destroyed that ring—it carried all his longing for Ah Yin. Only once, when Tang San had been slain by Bibi Dong, had his father finally sacrificed it in despair. But now? Though it felt wrong, Tang San said nothing.
The monumental phantom brought the hammer down upon the Ice Dragon King.
"Impressive display," the dragon sneered. "But flashy doesn't mean effective."
Opening its jaws, the dragon gathered enormous frost energy before unleashing it in a blinding blast.
The frozen breath collided with the hammer mid-descent—and instantly dominated it.
The bloodlust of Tang Hao's aura evaporated under that icy power. Crystals spread across the hammer's surface, freezing it solid. Within seconds, Tang Hao's enormous spirit form froze entirely into a frost sculpture.
By the time Tang San realized what had happened, his father had turned to ice.
"Father…" Tang San's voice cracked in disbelief. The invincible man he revered had fallen that easily.
Under the combined heat and chill of the two Dragon Kings, Tang Hao's trembling body began to convulse.
Seeing his father incapacitated, Tang San's pride crumbled. Bowing his head, he said humbly, "Honored Dragon Kings, we deeply regret disturbing your rest. Please forgive our intrusion."
The Fire Dragon King huffed. "Killing you would only dirty this place. Since you know your place, then leave."
"Yes, we'll leave at once," Tang San said quickly. Still glancing back longingly at the myriad immortal herbs within the valley, he helped his weakened father toward the exit.
But suddenly, a crushing aura pressed down on them. Both immediately dropped to their knees.
"I told you to roll, not to walk," the Ice Dragon King said coldly.
"Alright, alright—we'll roll, we'll roll!" Tang Hao said hurriedly. His proud figure hunched down, curling into a ball as he began physically rolling away across the ground.
Tang San hesitated. He was the chosen child of destiny, the successor of the Asura God. The idea of debasing himself like this made his mind quake. But logic screamed louder—survive first. And so, gritting his teeth, he too curled up and rolled after his father.
A second later, a dragon's tail lashed out, swatting the two "bouncing meatballs" clear out of the valley.
Both crashed hard in the outskirts beyond the Ice and Fire Well. Tang Hao absorbed the impact painfully, relying on sheer durability, while Tang San used his Blue Silver Grass to create a parachute of vines, softening his fall.
Even so, they landed with heavy groans, sprawled amid thick shrubs wrapped in eerie white mist.
The fog limited visibility severely. Then suddenly, music drifted through the air—a hauntingly familiar tune.
"Ah~ kei~ kuli hou ya hou ben~"
"Another illusion…" Tang San snarled through clenched teeth. His mind flooded with bad memories. He turned to his father. "Father, we need to leave immediately, or—"
But Tang Hao wasn't listening. He stood frozen, his eyes wide and dreamy. "Ah Yin… Ah Yin, is that you?"
"Di da lu gong ga o da hei~"
Tang San followed his gaze—and froze in shock.
Before them stood a figure he'd seen countless times in dreams—her graceful shape, her familiar aura. The mature form of Xiao Wu.
"Xiao Wu… is that you?" Tang San's rational mind screamed No!—but his heart overpowered it. It had been so long since she'd looked at him with such tenderness, even if this was a lie, he wanted to believe it.
"Ge sai ge hong mei o ya la~"
The woman turned, her soft eyes falling upon both father and son. She extended her hand invitingly.
Tang Hao moved first, overcome with longing, stumbling toward her.
Tears welled in Tang San's eyes as he too stepped forward. Logic told him this was a trap, yet emotion whispered otherwise. How could he reject that face—the warmth he craved more than anything?
They both reached out, placing their hands upon her soft, furred fingers.
"Du lu lu lu lu lu~ du lu lu lu~"
