Research Record of Maj-Tech Academy
Research Codename: M.
Year of Record: 20XX
Research Objective:
To establish the Official Species Classification System for the Mixed-Species Era, in response to the rapid and diverse population growth of multiple species following the initiation of the era by the "Purple Witch." The system is intended to support new legislative drafting, public health strategy, and joint security operations in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Magic (FBM).
Population Classification in the Mixed-Species Era (2000)
Due to the sudden increase of various species populations within a short period, the central government and the Federal Bureau of Magic (FBM) convened to develop a population categorization framework with the following primary groups:
1. Humous
Definition:
Populations classified as Humans or species whose physical appearance and biological evolution closely resemble humans.
Description:
This category includes species with physical structures most similar to humans and that are capable of coexisting within human society with minimal physical limitations. The classification serves to unify groups with comparable fundamental needs (e.g., nutrition, housing, and living conditions).
Examples:
Halflings, Giants, Half-Giants, Dwarves
2. Bestia
Definition:
Populations classified as animals or animal-human hybrids that possess human-like civilization or social development.
Description:
This group comprises species with prominent animal traits but that have developed intelligence, social behaviors, and independent civilizations comparable to humans. The classification is essential for understanding biologically specific needs (such as hunting behavior, breeding cycles, or hibernation patterns).
Examples:
Nekomata, Lioness, and other civilized animal species
3. Occult
Definition:
Populations associated with dark arts, curses, or origins linked to fusion with dark energy or extra-dimensional forces.
Description:
These groups directly interact with what was historically considered "abnormal" or "forbidden" energy. This classification is critical to magical regulation and public security, as such populations often engage with forces that may disrupt the overall magical system or face restrictions under standard daylight environments or magical laws.
Examples:
Vampires, Tieflings, Ghosts, Gorgons, Demons, Half-Demons
4. Altos (The Gifted)
Definition:
Mystical populations whose species inherently possess high magical or natural energy capabilities.
Description:
Named in honor of the Altos clan, the initiators of the revolutionary movement. This group generally includes species with deep connections to nature or possessing complex magical structures surpassing those of ordinary humans. The classification supports regulation of magical education and ecological equilibrium.
Examples:
Dryads, Witches, Wizards, Wings (winged species)
5. In-Between Categories
Definition:
Species whose physical characteristics and energy properties overlap multiple primary classifications.
Description:
These populations represent the most challenging classification cases due to mixed genetic traits. A single category cannot adequately meet all their biological or legal needs. Regulatory and healthcare management for this group must prioritize their most prominent expressed traits.
Examples:
Werewolves:
Classified as both Occult (due to curse-based transformation) and Bestia (due to animalistic form and instincts).
Elementals:
Energy-based species, such as Frostkin, which display humanoid features yet rely on specific environmental conditions like water availability or controlled temperature. They may fall between Humous and Altos, depending on their origin.
6. Unclassified / Unspecified
Definition:
Populations that cannot be fully categorized by existing criteria, whether due to physical form, energy state, or anomalous phenomena.
Description:
This category is reserved for phenomena not yet understood, including individuals with energy abnormalities inconsistent with established laws (classified as Anomalies) or newly emerged species. This classification remains critical for advanced research and high-level security preparedness by the FBM.
