"there are chains in all of us"
"Are their chains as physical as mine?" I raised my skinny hand bounded with rusty chains
She chuckled a bit
"No...not all. Some are physical while some are hidden deep inside our soul"
"I don't understand. I'm a slave and will always be slave, those with emotional chains have more freedom than me" I said
She chuckled again
"Wearing a chain doesn't make you a slave"
"It does" I glared at her
"No you choose to be one, God made man to be free, no man can make his fellow man a slave unless he chooses to be"
"Wait what do you mean?"
"I..."
The metal door to the cafe creaked open and two hefty guards entered, scanning the cage with their blood shot eyes. I shifted closer to mama Titi
"Stay behind me child, they won't harm you" she whispered
The guards continued scanning the cage until their eyes landed on mama Titi
"You" they pointed at her "you're coming with us"
"No" I grabbed mama Titi's hand in fear "please don't take her away!"
"Do not fear child" she smiled at me and pushed me away from her
"What are you doing?! They'll kill you" I cried
"You're wasting our time" one of the guards grabbed her forcefully
"Mama Titi!" I screamed
"Hey you shut up!" The other guard yelled and hit me with his metal baton
I screamed in pain and rushed towards mama Titi trying to pull her away
"Let me go dear, I have nothing to fear" she was still smiling despite the fact that she was about to be sold or killed for all we know
"Mama Titi they'll kill you, you're old and you can't be sold at this age. They did that to the lady that was here before you" I cried trying to save her
She just smiled and pushed me away again
The guards grabbed her and walked out of the cage while I screamed. Mama Titi's eyes were still on me, there was no sign of sadness or regret in them only hope and freedom. She whispered one last time before they vanished with her
"You're not a slave, you can be free too"
Her words kept ringing in my ears as the tears flowed
"You're not a slave..!!!"
