Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Teen Titans

Lucifer and Raven prepped for the Gold Rank delivery.

The package—the small, powerful cell—was secured, and the route to the remote California facility was memorized.

The air thrummed with the high-stakes tension of the mission.

They were crossing a massive suspension bridge outside of Metropolis—a crucial segment of their journey—when the chaos began.

Sirens blared, car horns jammed, and the distinct sound of high-impact energy blasts filled the air.

Lucifer and Raven looked up to see a massive, hulking figure—a villain covered in grotesque, living rock armor—actively fighting four highly distinctive figures.

[Danger: Immediate Collision Zone. Teen Titans vs. Rock-Hard Criminal.]

"Who are they?"

Raven murmured, adjusting her grip on Lucifer's waist.

"They are... less discreet than those men in black."

"Just drive through it,"

Lucifer muttered, increasing the scooter's speed.

"We're in a hurry; we don't stop for mid-level superhero skirmishes."

Just as they approached the worst of the melee, the rocky villain—Mammoth—was slammed backward by a bright, emerald-green energy blast from Starfire. Mammoth's massive body skidded right into their path, directly blocking the bridge.

"Damn it, there is no easy job for me!"

Lucifer swore.

"Shield Up!"

The Tier 8 Neutronium Force Field immediately encased the scooter and them both.

Mammoth, seeing the small, shielded vehicle, didn't hesitate. He grabbed the nearest civilian—a terrified, screaming man—and then spotted Lucifer and Raven.

"Hold it right there, brats!"

Mammoth roared, throwing the terrified civilian aside and pointing at Lucifer.

"I've got new hostages! The bike kids!"

He lunged toward them.

Mammoth reached for Raven first, his massive, rock-hard hand closing around her shoulder.

The effect was instantaneous and disastrous for the villain.

Raven didn't use a dramatic light show. Instead, she released a focused, micro-burst of pure, intense Contempt and Psychic Rejection.

The emotional force was so dense and sharp that it hit Mammoth's mind like a physical, crippling shockwave.

Mammoth screamed—not from pain, but from the sudden, agonizing mental intrusion—and instantly recoiled, dropping his hand and clutching his head.

"W-what are you?!"

Mammoth stammered, his massive body actually shaking.

Lucifer, shielded and already moving, didn't wait.

He drove the scooter forward, aiming right for the villain's legs.

The Neutronium shield hit Mammoth with the force of an armored truck.

CRASH!

Mammoth tumbled backward with a sound like grinding concrete, his rocky armor cracking from the impact.

The sudden reversal of power left the villain completely bewildered and momentarily incapacitated.

The four Teen Titans—Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, and Beast Boy—were mid-leap when they saw the scene: a scooter protected by a shimmering, metallic force field, completely flatten their target, who was already mentally disabled by the girl on the back.

Lucifer kept driving, weaving around the stunned villain, not slowing down for a second.

They had cleared the skirmish zone when a voice, synthesized and amplified, cut through the comms in Lucifer's helmet.

"Hold on! Scooter guy!"

A sleek, jet-powered vehicle—the T-Wing—pulled alongside them, piloted by Robin. He executed a perfect mid-air hover beside them.

"That move—the shielding, the takedown—that was incredible coordination,"

Robin's voice was sharp with impressed authority.

"And your friend… she took Mammoth down with a glare! We need to talk!"

Lucifer reluctantly pulled the scooter to the side of the bridge, dropping the Tier 8 Shield as they stopped.

Robin landed the T-Wing and quickly approached, flanked by a curious Cyborg. Starfire and Beast Boy hovered above.

"My name is Robin,"

The leader said, cutting straight to the point.

"You two are clearly meta-humans. Given your age and your demonstrated power level—that force field alone is off the charts—you should be using your abilities to help people. We're looking for new members for the Teen Titans."

He gestured to Raven, who was now calmly assessing the structural damage to the bridge.

"You two are powerful, you're on your own, and you just took down a major villain without breaking a sweat. We could use people like you."

Robin's Empathy signal was a blend of Genuine Altruism and Recruitment Intent.

Cyborg chimed in, equally impressed.

"Yeah, man! We're a team! We help each other out! You could get proper training and gear!"

Lucifer looked from the earnest leader to the shattered, emotionally exhausted Mammoth still groaning in the distance.

He then looked at Raven, who was patiently waiting for his response, her gaze filled with calm expectation.

"It's a great offer,"

Lucifer said, shaking his head.

"But I'll pass."

Robin frowned.

"Why? You have the power, and you clearly operate under a protective code—you saved that civilian."

"I saved the civilian because I didn't want him messing up my delivery route,"

Lucifer corrected flatly.

"I'm a logistics consultant, not a hero. I'm close to hitting a major financial goal, and I can't afford to be tied down to a central headquarters or weekly team meetings."

He patted the secure package.

"My entire life is built around moving this kind of high-risk cargo for payouts. I'm not ready to trade my salary for a spandex uniform and team bonding exercises."

He looked at Raven, who gave a small, approving nod.

"We appreciate the thought,"

Lucifer concluded, starting his scooter engine.

"But we're an autonomous unit. We prefer to work alone. Good luck with the rock monster."

Robin looked disappointed, but he recognized the firm refusal.

"If you ever need a place to belong, or run into something you can't handle, look us up. My offer stands."

Lucifer just nodded, revved the engine, and sped off, Raven holding him securely as they left the bewildered Titans to deal with the incapacitated Mammoth.

Raven leaned forward as they sped across the bridge.

"That was... polite. You were offered a structured existence based on your abilities."

"I already have a structured existence,"

Lucifer replied, feeling the familiar, exciting rush of the hunt.

"It just pays better. Besides,"

He grinned,

"I already have a co-pilot, girlfriend. I don't need four more."

Raven's emotional output was a pure, stable wave of Acceptance and Satisfaction.

They had one segment left. The Platinum-Tier delivery was within reach.
