Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: What Now Again?

Agent Hill reacted the fastest.

The moment she realized what had happened, she almost failed to hold back her laughter.

"My dear Director~ If you want to take advantage of Mr. Silver Duke, there doesn't seem to be a single successful case so far."

Corin was just trying to mess with Fury a little.

Who told him to step on Corin while showing off to his subordinates.

"This time it's my turn."

Watching the braised egg sneak over to whisper to him, Corin had no intention of really making things difficult for him.

"Mr. Destiny, the money has already been transferred to you. A full ten billion. Do you really have the heart to cut me again right here?"

Seeing Nick Fury lowering his voice to talk to him, Corin found it a bit amusing.

"Director Fury, was it fun using me to show off in front of your people?"

"Fun! Oh no… I mean, actually… it was okay. Mainly because you're just that amazing."

Seeing that his warning had achieved the desired effect, Corin did not continue to press Fury. He withdrew the magnetic field he had released.

Buzz!

Whew!

"Holy sh—"

The warship, freed from external control, shot straight up into the sky.

Everyone was thrown into another round of stumbling chaos.

"This time I won't charge extra."

"But…"

"Remember it!"

"Director Fury, you owe me a favor."

Hearing that Corin did not take the opportunity to fleece him, Nick Fury felt as if he had been granted amnesty. He secretly gave Corin a thumbs-up.

"No problem!"

Nick Fury readjusted his stance and stood firm at the command position.

As the braised egg signaled his subordinates to activate a certain program,

Agent Hill planted her hands on her hips and issued orders with professional precision, "SHIELD emergency protocol 193.6 activated! Indicators ready, Director!"

"Let's disappear!"

"Activate background reflection panels."

At Nick Fury's command, the warship flying into the sky gradually stabilized its speed and activated its cloaking system.

The stealth coating on the hull was activated, as if a special energy shield had been turned on. The massive aerial fortress instantly blended into the clouds.

"Finally, a smooth takeoff."

Letting out a quiet sigh of relief, Nick Fury turned and walked toward the group.

"Gentlemen."

Colonel Rogers stepped up to Fury, pulled out a wad of bills from his pocket, took ten dollars from it, and handed it to Nick Fury.

Nick Fury looked at the ten-dollar bill in his hand and recalled the bet he had made earlier with Captain America.

"At least one thing worth being happy about."

He then walked over to Dr. Banner, and after exchanging pleasantries, the two enthusiastically discussed how to track down Hawkeye and Loki.

Corin had no interest in that. He strolled back to the lounge SHIELD had prepared for him.

He casually flopped onto the bed.

At present, the Avengers roster was still missing Tony and Thor. The rest were basically in position.

The next step would be a direct confrontation with Loki, the God of Mischief.

Corin could not help but recall the scene of the portal opening above Stark Tower, with the Chitauri army invading Earth in droves.

Anything from outer space was good stuff. All of it was valuable.

"I wonder if these aliens can be exchanged. At the very least, their equipment should be worth money, right?"

Thinking about the fact that he would soon be facing an alien army head-on, Corin felt it necessary to further enhance himself.

After all, the movie only showed a few glamorous Avengers and did not fully reflect how powerful alien weapons really were.

If one assumed alien technology was underdeveloped or their weapons were weak, that would be a huge mistake.

The Avengers all had protagonist halos. Every war ended with narrow escapes.

But as an outsider, he was full of uncertainty.

Corin had no intention of getting written off or suffering a huge loss in the plot of the first Avengers movie.

Since he had money in his pocket, it was safer to turn all of it into combat power.

He had already decided how to use that ten billion dollars.

That's right, another Superman ability, Freeze Breath.

Heat Vision had already been upgraded to the strategic level, and its standalone power was impressive enough. Add Freeze Breath on top of that.

One cold, one hot. No matter how strong alien defenses were, they still had to respect the laws of physics.

'Right?'

With that thought, Corin opened the system shop and flipped to that page:

[Superman → Freeze Breath Lv1 (Auxiliary Low-Temperature Control) 50 million USD]

[Freeze Breath Lv2 (Tactical Freezing) 500 million USD]

[Freeze Breath Lv3 (Wide-Area Freezing) 1.5 billion USD]

[Freeze Breath Lv4 (Strategic-Level Ice Storm) 8 billion USD]

"Exchange!"

[-50 million USD. Exchange successful. Account balance: 10.15 billion USD]

The system prompt vibrated in his mind.

At this moment, Corin felt a trace of coolness rise in his chest. As he breathed, the air he exhaled formed a faint white mist in the warm lounge.

Trying to breathe out a puff toward the table, he saw the temperature of the water cup instantly drop. Room-temperature water turned into ice-cold water.

Condensation beads hanging on the outside of the glass reminded Corin that what he had now was not Freeze Breath at all, but Refrigeration Breath.

Thinking about never needing ice for cola again in the future, Corin felt delighted.

"Upgrade!"

[-10 billion USD. Talent upgrade successful! Account balance: 150 million USD]

Crack! Crack!

As Corin exhaled cold air, the temperature of the lounge dropped rapidly.

Bang!

The water cup on the table suddenly shattered due to the drastic temperature drop.

The room-temperature water inside turned into ice crystals the moment it scattered, crystal clear, with shards of glass stuck to them.

One could imagine just how absurdly fast the temperature had dropped.

At that moment, Agent Hill pushed open Corin's cabin door.

"Mr. Silver Duke, while things aren't busy, I made you a cup of hot coffee. Tha—huh?"

The instant Hill pushed the door open, her palm stuck directly to the metal door handle and would not come off.

A bone-chilling cold surged from her palm into her body, and her entire arm instantly lost all sensation.

"Th-this?"

Agent Hill's eyes widened as she watched the coffee in her other hand go from steaming hot to covered in shards of ice in an instant.

One of her shoes froze to the floor, leaving her unable to step into the cabin.

Before she could even process what had happened, she ignored the cold overtaking her body and stared blankly at Corin, her eyes gradually losing focus.

Seeing that his newly upgraded ability had turned the entire lounge into a world of ice and snow within just two breaths, Corin was astonished.

"No wonder it costs more than Heat Vision. This area-of-effect..."

The ice spread across the entire lounge and did not stop there, rapidly extending outward along the metal floor.

Suddenly, he noticed the uninvited Agent Hill standing there with coffee, frozen in place, her arm gripping the door handle about to frost over.

At the same time, the light in Hill's eyes was fading under the extreme cold. She was about to lose consciousness.

'This is bad!'

In a panic, Corin released Heat Vision and immediately thawed Agent Hill.

Two dark red beams shot from his eyes, first freeing Hill's arm from the door handle.

Then his gaze dropped to her feet, lifting the restraint that kept her from moving.

At the same time, he activated magnetic control to stabilize the metal on Hill's body, ensuring she would not collapse onto the floor.

Corin carefully controlled the energy output of his Heat Vision, moving it up and down to replenish heat throughout Hill's body.

Seeing light return to Hill's eyes, Corin still did not dare stop.

His breathing was still continuously releasing extreme cold.

He could only maintain the heating, because a single mistake would put her in mortal danger.

Everything happened too fast for Hill to even realize she had just brushed past death.

Her consciousness left her body in an instant and was dragged back just as quickly, creating a brief sense of disorientation, as if she had reloaded the moment she entered the room.

"Achoo! So cold!"

Leaving aside the fact that Corin kept Hill alive by constantly heating her with Heat Vision,

The extreme cold spilling from the cabin spread outward toward the nearby engines.

Crack! Groan!

The Helicarrier's engines were affected by the cold, producing abnormal sounds.

The entire ship began to tremble once again.

Nick Fury remained calm, but his dead-fish eye betrayed his current mood.

"This… what now? motherf**ker?"
