Chapter 36 - Waking up

Opening his eyes, Jairo lay on his side. Almost all the the physical strain from the day before had lightened a considerable amount. The young man was the most comfortable he's ever been. Then again after doing a bunch of labour, even a small patch of hay and straw would become a five star mattress.

Anything to lay down. Jairo sat up in Mostly high spirits. leaned back, rolled his shoulders and stretched his arms. All was going well...at least mostly, as there were some things that he chose to ignore that he could no longer.

taking a deep breath, he turned to his right, and instead of being greeted with the sight of the trinkets a certain someone told him that he could not use he was greeted by Theons ugly mug. A frown quickly formed on his face as he had some to the realization.

'Of course he's here. What is his purpose besides being a thorn at my side and complain about menial tasks?'

Jairo opted to stop thinking about it or risk the bastard complaining aloud in his dreams as well.

For better or for worse, upon a second look at him Jairo came to the realization that the boy was far from ugly. a well angled face even from the perspective of whatever they were. If his eyes were opened, one could see how striking they were was a reflection of the confidence he held within.

That said, all would fade into nothing once you heard him speak, or you just so happened to spend more than five minutes around him. To Jairo that almost sounded like a fate worse than death.

moreover, as Jairo looked around at where Theon was laying, he came to the realization that the trinkets that he was not supposed to touch...just so happened to be in the place that Theon was laying right now.

Was it possible to pin the entire situation on the bastard if the items disappear? No unfortunately, as he was the first person to enter the tent and he had been given a warning. They might assume he's trying to test them. A brat seeing how far he can go with a prank.

Turning to his left, he saw Gabriel lying down, though his body was in a more protective position with his body curled up almost into a ball.

However quite frankly, he was done trying to prod at the young boy for anything that was not within his realm of business. Crawling over to where Then let, he looked around him and saw that His outstretched hands had the items near them, though they were at the edge of the tent.

making sure not to make much noise, Jairo leaned over and grabbed them The necklace Had The teeth of what Jairo assumes was big game that the man had hunted down over the years, yet despite that fact they seemed to be smoothed out. also due to the fact that he wasn't wearing it, one might think it was for someone else.

It was a bit too small for the neck of the average man. Jairo turned his head to the toy beetle carved from wood. It Had a few spots where it had to much or too little taken off. Whoever made it was not a master by any means, but one could tell that a lot of time was put into its creation.

Even more than that, he could feel something at the bottom. He flipped the toy over and saw writing. "when I am able to return, I will know I am favored."

As Jairo read it aloud, a small part of the mans life became obvious. This was a husband and a father desperately waiting and fighting to come back and bring gifts.

It was an odd feeling, He could not tell what the man looked like or how he sounded, but spiritually he felt connected. 'I wish you the best of luck...whoever you are.'

he set the toys down and turned around just in time to see someone opening the Tent, Rays of sunlight seeming to attach themselves to his fur.

Captain Emory looked into the tent with a calm Gaze, but his brows lifted seeing Jairo up so early "You're surprising me already. Awake swiftly and early, it seems you're trying to shake off first impressions."

Jairo nodded as a small formed on his face. "Of course captain. I plan to be a shining role model for how to navigate and it starts with waking on time." Not exactly what he was going for but he loved taking unnecessary praise.

Emory then threw two acorns and the other boys, causing Gabriel to quickly grab his head in annoyance and Theon to roll over and begin kicking the air.

"The hell?!" Theon shouted as he rubbed against his forehead aggressively and sat up.

Emory further opened up the tent curtains to let the sun shine through and into the young boys eyes. "Up. Now. It's time for your training."
