Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Embers of a forgotten flame (part 2)

Immortal Flame stood at the center of destruction. He looked toward Yamaru, an intense glow hidden within his gaze.

"Your trickery will no longer work on me" Immortal Flame declared just as he opened his mouth. A stream of fiery breath burst forth. Raising the temperature of the surroundings by the dozens.

Seeing the flames shooting towards him, Yamaru vanished.

His figure appearing towards Immortal Flame's back with a poise ready to strike. To his dismay , he found himself covered by a shadow from above. He looked up his eyes wide in alarm. From above, a scaly tail- close to 100 meters long came down like a sledge hammer.

Bang!

Immortal Flame's tail slammed into him, knocking him out the sky. Yamaru hit the ground with such force a depression was created, cracks spreading outwards. A trail of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth. His chest rising and falling rapidly. His gaze shot forward, Immortal Flame wasn't done.

From above his wings beat against the sky. His mouth wide open and glowing with a fiery orange color. He was charging up another attack.

Another beat of his wings and the great beast was directly above him, mouth spewing flames made to incinerate.

BOOM!

Smoke rose up but Immortal Flame could still see. The rocks had melted into magma that pooled at the center of the crater. The temperature so hot one would have thought they were in a volcano.

Immortal Flame squinted his eyes. There was no sign of Yamaru and he doubted something like that would be enough to take down someone with the strength of a Lord.

A growl rumbled in his chest. He couldn't let his guard down and indeed that was the right choice because a split second later, he was proven right.

Yamaru appeared over his head, his expression distraught and his state sorry. His robes were completely burnt to ashes, his pale skin covered in soot and burns. And his lips and hair charred He gnashed his teeth.

"Damn you old lizard! Your time has long since passed. You are nothing but a shell of your former self just die already!" Yamaru screamed, his frustration evident.

He refused to accept this.

He launched a fist forward. To a Mortal it might have looked like he had hit nothing but empty air but from his perspective, Immortal Flame saw something else.

He felt the fluctuations in space before he tilted his head to the side. However just then a round cavity was suddenly carved right in his shoulder. One could see the other side just by looking through.

Immortal Flame's gaze hardened.

Just now Yamaru's attacked incorporated a spatial element that more or less drilled through everything in his path. Had he been just a bit slow, he would have found his entire neck run through.

"Let's see you withstand this!" Yamaru roared his fists clenched at his waist.

Immortal Flame's eyes widened.

Then there was no time to think.

Yamaru unleashed a torrent of invisible spatial punches. All headed towards Immortal Flame.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Explosions rang out causing the entire realm to quake fiercely. Dust rose into the sky sharply. The strength behind those punches seemed to carry the weight of the world. Yamaru's barrage was so intense at some point large imprints of fist could be seen flying through the dust.

The shockwaves alone caused the skies to clear.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" he laughed into the skies. "Yes! I have done it. I have slain that which others consider a god!"

His voice echoed across every corner of the prison realm, testament to his power. This was it. This was his moment he had proven himself strong. Now all he had to do was bring back Immortal Flame's head…

Was there even any trace of him left?

'No matter' Yamaru waved it off before he turned back to look in the direction of the mountain. 'I'm sure I'll be rewarded quite well if I present the human boy instead'

"Human's" he spat. "…they make me sick"

With that he shot towards the mountain. He wiped the sweat that covered his entire face and ignored his slightly heavy breathing. That attack just now had taken a lot out of him. That was why he didn't just travel through space and appeared before the mountain. He was flying above the lake toward the mountain.

"Tch…loathsome lizard" he mumbled

"Hasn't Sin taught you never to turn you back on an enemy?" a familiar voice came from above.

"What_"

Bang!

A solid blow land on his back. The air exploded and he was hurled to the lake.
