Chapter 15 - Hello Grammy's.

CHAPTER 15 — THE GRAMMY BUILT FROM A BEDROOM

Awards never mattered much to Billie.

What mattered were the fans, the art, and the late nights she and Finneas spent pouring their feelings into music. But when "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" exploded into global fame, the Grammy conversations began. Quiet at first — whispers, predictions — then louder as the nominations rolled in.

When she received six Grammy nominations in a single day, she sat silently in the living room, her phone buzzing nonstop.

Her mother asked, "Billie? You okay?"

Billie shrugged.

"This is insane. We made this album in Finneas's bedroom."

Finneas laughed nervously. "Guess the bedroom is iconic now."

But the pressure hit harder than the excitement. Everyone expected her to win — and that terrified her. She feared becoming a "hype artist," someone the industry builds up only to tear down.

The night of the Grammys, Billie wore an oversized black-and-green outfit, calm on the outside but shaking inside. Cameras flashed. Interviewers talked. Screens glowed.

Then the awards began.

Best Pop Vocal Album — Billie.

Best Song — "Bad Guy."

Best Album — Billie and Finneas.

Best New Artist — Billie.

By the fourth win, she couldn't even process the applause. Her ears rang. The stage lights felt too hot. Finneas kept squeezing her hand, grounding her.

Backstage, she whispered, "I don't deserve this much."

Finneas turned to her.

"Billie. You worked for this. You earned this. Stop shrinking."

She didn't realize it then, but this night didn't just make history — it changed the way she saw herself. The girl who wrote songs in the dark had become one of the youngest artists to sweep the major categories.

But with history came a new weight:

Now the world expected perfection.
