Chapter 1 - Tall Tales of a Tiny Voice

"-tell your parents about the wonderful bard Nurei!" A man sporting a moustache not yet entirely developed waved at the group of excited kids as they leave the tavern.

The man sat back down on his stool, positioned at the most spacious corner of the room. He straightened his tunic, cleared his throat, and went back to strumming.

Now: He's a normal dude that took the bard class as it was his childhood dream. As of now, he's just a fledgeling; not even a year of experience. He uses more exaggerated, flowery songs formed from rumors he hears from the locals and stories of adventurers from the guild tavern.

Then: A pair of nobles from differing families and ranks will visit the guild for business matters, and Nurei sees it as an opportunity to become a court musician. He tried his best to woo the younger noble with his songs, but on his 2nd attempt, he was accused by the noble of attempting assassination just because he got too close to the noble's personal space. He was promtly thrown into jail then sent to the gallows. Though before he was transferred to the platform, he pleaded the older noble, who was looking at him thru the carriage's glass window, to give him another chance. This gave the old noble an idea, to sent him into a suicide mission along with other fugitives: Retrieve a 'core' from his personal dungeon, and they will receive their freedom. The old noble interrupted the execution and had Nurei and the other fugitives taken into the old noble's estate, where they're not even given the bare minimum of protection. The estate guards threw them into the dungeon and given a box adorned with inscribed runes. They spotted a door with its cracks and holes illuminated by a purple-ish light, giving off malevolent vibes.

As the job was very simple enough, all of them hurriedly stepped inside the room, but their excitement was cut short as a dark, pulsating mass of red blood and bruised flesh immediately sensed their close proximity and was promptly stabbed by writhing appendages that came out of the mass. Out of 8 of them, only Nurei and another fugitive survived. The fugitive turned tail and ran away, attempting to climb up the stairs out of the dungeon. He was swiftly executed by the estate guards right after he got the taste of sunlight again. Nurei shakingly grabbed the box and opened it, and pleaded the mass to go inside. After an absence of response, he tried to sing a folk song that his mother used to sing to him, to calm him down. The mass finally responded, its pulses went from vigorous rage into calm, serene waves. He inched closer, slowly, until the mass was just one jump away from the open box he's carrying. He took the gamble and jumped, his arm outstretched to seal the mass inside the box. He was successful, he finally sealed it inside.
