Tonight was Reagan's birthday, and my stomach churned with each passing minute. This wasn't just another celebration. Tonight would determine whether Michael and I had a future together, or if everything would crumble around us.
I wished I could stop the clock, freeze this moment before everything changed. But time doesn't work that way. Tonight, Michael and I would finally tell Reagan the truth about us, about the love we'd been hiding behind closed doors.
My chest felt tight just thinking about it. I could already see it playing out, the shock on Reagan's face, the anger that would follow, the words that couldn't be taken back. But I forced myself to stay calm. We'd known this day would come. Maybe, with time, he'd find a way to forgive us both.
Still, the timing stung. Why did it have to be his birthday?
