Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

The days following the boardroom victory were a blur of meetings, press releases, and strategy sessions. Amanda threw herself into the work, determined to prove she belonged at Greyson's side. Yet beneath the surface, tension simmered — not from the outside world, but between them.

Greyson had begun to push harder, demanding longer hours, sharper focus, and absolute precision. Amanda understood the stakes, but she also felt the strain. Their relationship, once a secret sanctuary, was bleeding into their professional lives, and the collision was impossible to ignore.

One evening, Amanda stayed late, reviewing contracts under the dim glow of her desk lamp. Greyson entered, his presence filling the room. He placed a file in front of her, his tone clipped. "This needs to be corrected before morning."

Amanda looked up, exhaustion in her eyes. "Greyson, I've been here since dawn. I need rest."

His jaw tightened. "Rest comes after victory."

Amanda's chest tightened. "And what about us? What about the moments that aren't about contracts and battles? If all we do is fight, where does love fit in?"

The silence between them was sharp, cutting. Greyson's gaze softened, but his voice remained firm. "Love is sacrifice, Amanda. If you want to be with me, you have to accept that."

Amanda stood, her voice trembling but fierce. "No, Greyson. Love isn't just sacrifice. It's balance. It's choosing each other even when the world demands everything else. If you can't see that, then maybe you're not ready for me."

The words landed like a blow. Greyson's expression faltered, his armor cracking. For a moment, Amanda thought he might retreat into silence, into the walls he had built for years. But then, slowly, he stepped closer.

"You're right," he whispered. "I've been so consumed by winning that I forgot what I was fighting for. It's not just the company. It's you."

Amanda's breath caught, her anger softening. "Then prove it. Not with money. Not with power. Prove it by choosing us."

Greyson reached for her hand, his touch firm yet tender. "Then tonight, I choose us."

Amanda felt the tension ease, the collision of love and ambition settling into something steadier. For the first time, she realized they weren't just surviving the storm — they were learning how to stand together in it.
