Chapter 199 - Chapter 199: The Biggest Deception Is Telling the Truth

Chapter 199: The Biggest Deception Is Telling the Truth

"Have you ever seen the starry sky, Shisui?" Kenichi asked earnestly.

Shisui immediately felt something was off. It sounded like Kenichi was teasing him, but he had no proof. Still, he nodded. Of course he had seen it. In this world, looking up at the stars at night was normal.

Kenichi already knew the answer. The shinobi world did not suffer much from light pollution, so the night sky was clear and crowded with bright stars. If this place ever discovered tourism, it would be unfair to other worlds.

"Do you know that we live on a star?" Kenichi continued, his tone serious. "And do you know how many stars exist beyond that vast sky?"

What he said was true. The Otsutsuki clan had come to this world from another planet.

At the same time, Kenichi could not help suspecting that the planet beneath their feet was not very large. If it were, there would be no reason for only this small piece of land to matter, unless there were other continents beyond the ocean that no one had discovered.

That possibility felt unlikely. With so many merchants and shinobi traveling constantly, someone would have mentioned overseas nations by now.

"What do you mean?" Shisui asked. He felt like he almost understood, but it sounded crazy enough that he could not be sure whether Kenichi was speaking truthfully.

Kenichi smiled at him. "It's simple. The universe is huge. So why fight to the death on the planet that gave us birth?"

His goal was straightforward. He wanted the shinobi world to enter an interstellar era.

And the Otsutsuki clan fascinated him. Kenichi wanted to learn their technology, their culture, and just how far their civilization had advanced.

Peace was precious in any era. In the shinobi world, hatred ran far deeper.

Kenichi's own research was proving that in the cruelest way.

Inserting genetic information into a gene chain without damaging the cell was extremely difficult. And even if you managed the insertion, the real problem came after, gene collapse.

"I can't possibly master Yin Yang Release just to do gene programming," Kenichi said, rubbing his forehead with a helpless sigh. "I swear I'm going bald."

In his view, Yin Yang Release should be able to solve it.

But reality was harsher than theory.

Using ninjutsu to perform gene programming was far more difficult than he expected. Cells were too small, and controlling chakra input at that scale was brutally precise work.

Shisui's brows furrowed. "How do I know what you're saying is true? People can barely fly, and you're talking about reaching the stars."

Kenichi did not argue. Instead, he let the question hang for a moment, then shifted the conversation.

"War, hatred, blood feuds passed down generation after generation," Kenichi said quietly. "This world is drowning in slaughter. Unless the villages can stay at peace for eighty years, long enough for the war orphans to grow old, peace will never truly come."

He stepped forward, pressing while the iron was hot.

"How many Uchiha died in the war?" Kenichi asked.

Shisui stiffened.

Back in Konoha, he had been tormented by the same thoughts every day, how to leave the village, how many would die if Konoha pursued them, how he could cover their retreat. He had already prepared to stay behind himself, to hold off the pursuers and buy time with his own life.

And yet, in the end, they left Konoha through the sky.

That outcome was so absurd that it still felt unreal.

"A lot," Shisui said at last.

He remembered the family records, dozens of pages filled with names of the dead. His chest felt heavy just thinking about it.

Kenichi drew a slow circle on the ground with the tip of his foot.

"Hatred leads to new wars and retaliation," he said. "That creates new hatred. It never ends. It's a cycle."

He lifted his gaze.

"Did you ever think you would leave Konoha like that?" Kenichi asked.

Shisui fell silent. He truly had not.

"Death creates hatred," Kenichi murmured. "And hatred is one of the strongest emotions in the world."

Everyone could see what the shinobi world had become. Only a fool would pretend otherwise.

Madara chose the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Nagato chose pain.

Naruto could talk Nagato down because Nagato's plan had flaws.

But Naruto could not talk Madara down, because Madara's plan looked feasible on the surface, like a perfectly packaged dream, like turning reality itself into a clean digital life.

Kenichi understood that much.

He also understood something uglier.

Food vanished quickly. If peace lasted long enough while production could not keep up, supply would fail to meet demand. What happened then?

The simplest answer was war. War reduced mouths to feed.

Kenichi had even begun to suspect that the daimyo of the five great nations intentionally sent their shinobi into battle. If shinobi numbers grew too large, those rulers would not be able to sleep peacefully.

And in the most recent Third Shinobi World War alone, and even in clashes like Kumogakure against Iwagakure, Uchiha had died as well.

Kenichi did not say all of that to Shisui for comfort.

He said it because it was true.

Sometimes, the greatest deception was telling the truth.

Kenichi also had his own weapons, ones that were not flashy like killing techniques.

If he could identify what triggered cancer, it would be slow, insidious, and devastating. No one in this world even understood cancer properly yet. It could easily become a disease with no cure.

Compared to loud violence, that was the kind of threat that ended nations quietly.

Kenichi patted Shisui on the shoulder.

"And I want to end this cycle," he said.

Then he turned and walked away.

That was enough.

Even someone as smart as Shisui was starting to waver. He had begun thinking seriously, and the more he thought, the more he realized how much of Kenichi's reasoning was painfully correct.

After settling the Uchiha's situation, Kenichi returned to his laboratory and resumed his research. He wanted to solve gene programming as soon as possible.

But progress was suffocating.

Kenichi flipped through his experiment log, frustration tightening his jaw. "This is getting ridiculous."

The core issue remained the same.

How do you solve gene collapse?

Forcibly inserting genes and expecting them to fuse smoothly was like buying a lottery ticket and calling it a plan.

Kenichi stared at the notes and thought about the obvious answer.

Why not Yin attribute chakra?

Orochimaru's method relied on Yang attribute chakra. So what would happen if he tried the opposite?

He took out a lab mouse and tested it.

The result was immediate.

The mouse's genes could not be transformed. The genetic information he tried to insert was quickly erased by Yin attribute chakra, as if the chakra rejected it on principle.

So that path was dead.

Programming all cells in a grown body required every cell to adapt. If even a portion failed to accept it, the consequences would be horrific.

Organ dissolution.

Bleeding from every opening.

Death, complete and irreversible.

Kenichi exhaled slowly, then forced himself to think again.

Yin Yang Release could save Guy after the Gate of Death.

It could even give Kakashi an eye.

Its power was undeniable. Using it for genetic transformation should be possible.

So why did no one in this world master it?

Yin Release and Yang Release combined into Yin Yang Release. In theory, it sounded simple. In reality, if it were truly that convenient, the shinobi world would not be stuck in an era where no one had grasped it.

Kenichi rubbed his face, exhausted.

Even if he forcibly programmed cells using Yin attribute chakra, the cells could not withstand the effect.

And yet, a thought kept circling back.

"What if I use Yang attribute chakra to complete the gene programming," Kenichi murmured, "and then use Yin attribute chakra to maintain stability and prevent collapse?"

He sat in silence, staring at the log.

It was only an idea.

But at least it was an idea with a chance.
