Chapter 233: Kakashi, This Is Probably Fate~
Kazahana Dōtō was the current Daimyo of the Land of Snow and the current Kage of the Snow Ninja Village. At the same time, he was also an ambitious man.
Kenichi had not watched many movies, but this one was relatively early, so he remembered a few things.
After all, it was the first Naruto movie. He knew it.
For example, if his memory was right, Dōtō had rebelled and seized the throne. He only obtained his current position after killing his own kin. His goal was the "great treasure" of the Land of Snow, but later he discovered that the treasure his brother spoke of was nothing more than a very ordinary heater, something capable of making the Land of Snow resemble other countries, so its people would not have to endure brutal cold every day.
That device might have been a priceless treasure for the Land of Snow itself.
But for a man like Dōtō, it was an absolute waste.
What made it even more tragic was that before he could even use it to strengthen the Land of Snow, Naruto defeated him.
In the end, it was practically a tragedy born from terrible communication.
"Is this mission about finding the man who escaped?" Orochimaru had already put on a mask as well, and now he spoke in a calm, disguised voice. "What is his name?"
"That man is named Amado Sanzu." Dōtō's expression turned resentful as he answered. "He was once our most valued scientist in the Land of Snow, but he left without saying goodbye. These are some of his daily items that he abandoned."
He had finally succeeded in killing his brother, taking control of the Land of Snow and the Snow Ninja Village. He had searched for the so called great treasure, only to find nothing.
And then the chief scientist, Amado Sanzu, vanished as well.
Now Dōtō suspected that Amado might have been the one who stole the treasure.
Amado Sanzu.
It was an unusual name. Kenichi scratched his head, vaguely feeling as if he had heard it somewhere before.
But then again, maybe not. The name "Sanzu" was not rare. In his previous life, he had heard of the Sanzu River and the Sanzu Bridge.
So Kenichi did not dwell on it.
"We understand," Orochimaru said, taking the items. "We will do our best to find him."
He was about to leave.
But the moment he saw Dōtō's face, the look of someone practically screaming, I have a story, ask me, Orochimaru still flicked a glance at Kenichi.
Kenichi felt his patience tighten.
He had not expected his teacher to dislike dealing with people so much during missions. But with Orochimaru looking at him like that, Kenichi could only step forward and take the initiative.
And under Kenichi's "thoughtful" questioning, Dōtō finally began to share his "troubles" with a conflicted expression.
"Alas, speaking of it, this is also my fault." Dōtō sighed heavily. "My little niece, a girl named Koyuki Kazahana, also ran away because of some minor family matters. I want to…"
"This will count as a second request," Kenichi cut in, glancing at him.
He knew the truth. Koyuki was not "running away because of trivial family matters." She was fleeing to survive.
But almost immediately, another thought surfaced.
Kenichi remembered that during Koyuki's escape, she had received help from Kakashi, which allowed her to get away successfully, leave the Land of Snow, and later walk the path of an entertainer.
If that was the case, then this should be the plot that happened later.
And that meant he might even run into Kakashi, disguised and operating in the Snow Ninja Village.
For a moment, Kenichi did not know what to say.
He could only admit one thing.
This was, indeed, a ridiculous kind of fate.
He had not expected to get tangled up with Kakashi even after traveling all the way to a remote place like the Land of Snow.
"As long as you can find my niece, I will pay," Dōtō said firmly.
If someone did not know any better, they might truly believe he was a good man.
Kenichi knew what he was, but he did not care enough to interfere.
They paid. He worked.
The only thing Kenichi truly cared about was the Land of Snow's so called "great treasure." He was very interested in a device powerful enough to heat an entire country.
In his previous life, something like that would qualify as a proper weather weapon.
He had not watched the movie in a long time, so he could not remember what it looked like. But if he could locate Koyuki, he could probably find the device as well and study it.
After obtaining the girl's personal belongings, Kenichi and his teacher left the Snow Kage Building and headed into the capital's marketplace.
Orochimaru handed the "find people" task to Kenichi.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru went to search for the special chakra absorbing metal that Nagato had mentioned.
Kenichi had long since grown used to this distribution. Every time they left a village, Orochimaru would push most of the legwork onto him and call it "training."
"Amado Sanzu and Koyuki Kazahana." Kenichi sighed. "In a country this big, finding people is not easy at all."
To be honest, he had no enthusiasm for this kind of mission.
People were not idiots. They were not going to stand around and wait to be captured. They would run, hide, move, and vanish into crowds.
Unless he could directly see them, searching for them was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
So Kenichi felt the mission's real value was probably the special chakra absorbing metal, the miraculous material that would later be used to create the Land of Snow's armor.
However, just as he was about to leave the capital, he caught sight of a familiar figure.
Kenichi froze for an instant, then reflexively used the Body Flicker Technique to retreat, landing on a rooftop.
From there, he stared down at the person below.
In the end, Kenichi could only admit it.
This world really was small.
Hatake Kakashi.
He had just been thinking about how Kakashi once helped Koyuki escape.
And now Kakashi was here, in the capital of the Land of Snow, as if summoned by Kenichi's own thoughts.
Kakashi was disguised, but his white hair was still far too distinctive. And honestly, his disguise was not convincing at all. It was likely Kakashi himself did not take it seriously, so it was no surprise Kenichi recognized him.
"If Kakashi is here," Kenichi thought, interest rising, "then if I follow him, will I be able to run into Koyuki?"
Blind searching would get him nowhere.
But tailing Kakashi?
That was a different story.
