Feng Qi's understanding of the Dream Realm's future was extremely limited.
According to the Star City Shelter's database, the world had been completely enveloped by the Domain Field 1,500 years later.
As for what the world had become after being covered by the Domain Field, he had no way of knowing.
The only certainty was that no living humans remained in that world.
Feeling the bone-chilling cold emanating from his left arm, he lost his composure.
A flash of lightning illuminated the slender figure to his left, revealing her appearance.
She resembled a human child, about three or four years old, with large eyes framed by long lashes and delicate features. However, the grayish-white pupils gave her a dazed, disoriented look.
He also noticed a shattered rune crystal embedded in the girl's left arm.
A domain creature? A rune augment?
Based on her appearance alone, he couldn't determine whether the girl was a domain creature or a human.
But he leaned toward the former.
The Star City Shelter's records stated that human civilization had been destroyed. Moreover, the girl had no body temperature, her skin ice-cold to the touch, making her feel like... a corpse.
Maybe she really is a ghost!
Faced with the Narrator's ominous warning, he was starting to believe it.
Within a Domain Field, anything is possible.
Some Domain Fields even operate under natural laws completely different from Earth's.
For example, some Domain Fields have gravity several times stronger than Earth's, while others have gravity less than one-tenth of Earth's. There are even Domain Fields where creatures exist purely as consciousness, lacking physical bodies and thus immune to physical harm.
Feng Qi vividly remembered Wang Jinsheng's lecture about the Yin-Yang Domain Field, which had cost numerous domain combat teams dearly.
In the Yin-Yang Domain Field, day and night alternated every four hours, with scorching heat during the day and extreme cold at night, resembling two hellish extremes. Even robust cultivators struggled to survive there for long.
Humans had paid a heavy price to dispel this Domain Field, ultimately shattering the "Spatial Core" at its center.
The world within the Dream Realm was now entirely covered by Domain Fields, likely governed by bizarre natural laws. The emergence of peculiar creatures like "ghosts" seemed perfectly normal under these circumstances.
With this thought, Feng Qi tried to shift slightly to the right.
The little girl mirrored his movement, pressing even closer against his left arm.
"I'm... scared," she whispered in a childlike voice.
"I'm even more scared than you!" Feng Qi couldn't help but retort.
The vicious dog might still be lurking outside, so he dared not make any rash moves. Faced with the little girl's clinginess, he could only try to maintain as much distance as possible.
But the girl clearly had no intention of letting him go. For every step he took, she closed the gap.
As time passed, the thunder gradually subsided, the dark clouds dispersed, and crimson light once again bathed the earth, restoring color to the world.
After enduring what felt like an eternity, he glanced down and discovered the girl had fallen asleep, her arms wrapped tightly around his left arm.
Just as he was about to try and free himself, the girl's eyes snapped open, her bewildered gaze heartbreakingly vulnerable.
But remembering she might be a domain creature, he suppressed his pity, even feeling a flicker of murderous intent.
Being constantly harassed by the girl was clearly not a solution. Gritting his teeth, he forcibly yanked her off his arm, strode to the window, and, adopting the stance of a soccer goalkeeper kicking the ball, launched her out with a powerful kick.
He then leaned out the window to observe her movements, only to see the girl spring to her feet with astonishing speed, race up the wall, and hurl herself into his arms, clinging to his chest like a suction cup.
He tugged at her several times, but to his surprise, his strength proved utterly useless.
Feng Qi: ...
Faced with the little girl clinging to him like a leech, Feng Qi sighed in exasperation and asked, "Narrator, what is this thing?"
I don't know. Since she's so clingy, let's just call her 'Suction Cup.'
Feng Qi: ...
He was speechless at the name.
Just as he was pondering how to shake off the little girl, the corridor outside the door trembled. A three-meter-tall hellhound with a tail composed of tentacles materialized in his line of sight.
Seeing this, Feng Qi decisively lunged toward the window, knowing that staying meant certain death.
But in that instant, the hellhound's tentacle tail lashed out with blinding speed, ensnaring Feng Qi before he could react. His feet left the ground as he was yanked toward the monstrous creature.
The hellhound's head slowly split open, revealing a maw dripping with viscous, stringy mucus.
Feng Qi struggled frantically, desperate to break free from the tentacles' grip.
His strength proved utterly futile against the thick, muscular appendages. Just as he resigned himself to being devoured, the little girl clinging to his chest like a sloth suddenly opened her eyes. Grayish-white irises flickered with starlight before she whirled around and slammed her fist into the hellhound's mucus-slicked maw.
Boom!
The air vibrated with the earth-shattering impact. The hellhound collapsed instantly under the monstrous force.
The cracked ground, unable to bear the weight any longer, collapsed with a thunderous roar, sending Feng Qi plummeting to the floor below.
Amidst the billowing dust, he stared in stunned disbelief at the little girl standing on the ground, her eyes swirling with starlight.
"This thing is that strong?!"
The fallen hellhound snarled as it struggled to its feet. After shaking its head, the tentacles on its tail suddenly lashed out at Feng Qi.
Ever vigilant, he reacted instantly, leaping through the window.
Landing on the ground, he didn't bother looking back to see what was happening behind him. He turned and sprinted away.
After fleeing the dilapidated neighborhood, he continued running without stopping.
Though he hadn't witnessed the battle between the little girl and the hellhound, the tremors in the ground made it clear that a fierce clash was underway.
He hadn't run far when a deafening explosion shook the earth. Glancing back, he saw the entire dilapidated neighborhood collapsing in a cloud of smoke and dust that billowed skyward.
"So powerful!"
He never imagined that the seemingly pitiful little girl possessed such terrifying strength.
The girl's display of power only reinforced his suspicion that she was a domain creature.
After all, how could a normal human child possibly wield such terrifying power?
At his age, he could only babble incoherently, unable to even urinate without his parents or second brother's assistance. Otherwise, his aim would be completely off.
As for why the little girl had protected him, he was puzzled but didn't dwell on it, assuming it was just a coincidence.
Yet the thought of her genuinely protecting him in the Dream Realm filled him with glee. If that were true, he could swagger through this place with impunity.
Just then, the Narrator's voice echoed in his mind:
Here comes your chance.
As the Narrator's words faded, a slender figure darted toward him at breakneck speed, colliding with his chest and clinging tightly to him.
Propelled by the impact, Feng Qi flew several meters before his head slammed heavily against the ground.
"Fuck!"
